Rafael Davidson wasn't always a survivalist. He really only needed to after his family got murdered. Rafael was always into camping and just getting out of the city life and just having the feeling of freedom. When he was around 10 his dad took him to go hunting. Like normal Rafael was nervous and didn't take the shot on the buck when he had one. His dad didn't get mad about it because Rafael was just like him when he was young. So they started to go out more, not to hunt, but just to practice in the environment. Rafael's dad taught him how to shoot and shoot well. His dad was a Scout Sniper in the Marine Corps, so he knew a lot about hunting and being "invisible" while hunting. Rafael started to become more used to going out and just spending time with his dad. The idea of shooting the animal wasn't becoming a big deal to him because he knew every piece of meat that came off the animal would be eaten and they never killed an animal if they didn't need to. When he was about 15 he noticed that his dad was acting really weird. It wasn't uncommon that his dad would come back with some ammo, but he would come back with a lot of ammo quite often. His dad was also getting a lot more guns. They had a good amount of guns and Rafael didn't know why they were getting more. He also didn't know where all the guns and ammo were going. They had 3 big safes that didn't have too much space left in them. They also stopped going hunting as much, they would go out, but only late at night and use the night vision optics, something his dad just purchased. On one of these nights they went out late at night, he told Rafael that there were these people that were following him. His dad didn't know why they were, but they have tried to get him killed in the past and he thinks that they could be coming for his family as well. His dad explained that he has made stashes of weapons ammo and medical equipment. He told Rafael where they were and how to find them. A week after he learned about these stashes, his dad had him go to one of them to drop some supplies off to it. He used one of the quads they had because the stash was deep in the forest and it's hard to get a truck out there. While going back to the house, about a quarter-mile out, he heard gunshots. Right then he knew something was up. He stopped, grabbed his rifle out of his bag, and made sure that he had a fully loaded mag in his rifle and a few more in his pocket. He raced home and ran into his house. While going to open the door he saw his dad bleeding out on the floor and his mom got thrown against the wall. He could not see what was attacking them, but he did see that whatever it was, was pinning his mom against the floor now. she started to get mauled by this thing. It was tearing her apart. He pulled out his rifle and just shot a full mag into the thing that just tore his mom apart. He didn't know if he killed it, or if it ran away, but it was no longer attacking his mom. He went up to her and it was no use even trying to save her, she was dead. His dad was also gone. The cuts in his chest and throat were so deep that he could almost see the ground through him. His brother was in a lot better health than his two dead parents. Then he knew he couldn't live in that house, he packed all the essentials and the two of them headed out into the middle of the forest. A week later after living in the woods his brother died. Rafael thinks whatever this beast was that killed his family somehow infected his brother and he had no idea of it. At 16 Is when he had to start living off of the wild.
