Actions

Activate a Power or use an Ability as normal.
Hold your Action by declaring an Action and a triggering event. If the event occurs before your turn on the next Round, you perform the Action.

Reactions

Dodge by rolling Dexterity + Athletics ( dice) Difficulty 6. Your Outcome is subtracted from the attacker's.
Defend with your weapon by rolling its attack roll. Your Outcome is subtracted from the attacker's. Availability depends on weapon match-up (tap/hover).
Clash with the attacker using the same roll you would use to Defend. The higher Outcome (not contested) is treated as the result of a successful, undefended attack roll against the loser.

Desperate Defense

If you have already used your Action, you may Exert your Mind to perform a Reaction. Your next Round's Action receives a -2 dice penalty. You cannot Clash as a Desperate Defense.

Will to Survive

Once per Contract, you may reduce the severity of an incoming Injury up to 4 Severity levels (to a minimum of Severity 4). You take a point of Mind damage and suffer a Major Battle Scar that lingers after the Injury is healed, even with proper Stabilization.

If an attack's Outcome is positive after defense, it results in a new Injury with Severity = Outcome + Weapon damage - Armor

An Outcome of 1 or greater will Stabilize the Injury and stop its degradation.
Complete success (Outcome 4+) puts the Injury on track to heal clean: its Battle Scar heals with it.
Failed attempts can be retried at +1 Difficulty per failure.
On a Botch, the Injury's Severity increases by 1.

Makeshift Stabilization

Attempt a major treatment using insufficient or improvised medical equipment.

Roll Intellect + Medicine, Difficulty > Severity

Any positive Outcome (1+) will Stabilize the Injury and stop its degradation.
However, any Outcome less than 4 increases the Injury’s Severity by 1. Botches also worsen its Battle Scar.
Regardless of Outcome, any Battle Scars caused by the Injury will persist after it is fully healed.
Failed attempts can be retried at +1 Difficulty per failure.

Self-stabilization attempts are rolled at +1 Difficulty.

By sealing the pieces of Martha's soul within items instead of giving her her body back, Martha's spirit has become filled with unspeakable rage. Each item with a piece of her soul will take the alive trait, but you'll gain no benefit from it as far as improvements go. The item can still be improved with improvement points. It just naturally has the "It's Alive" drawback, but you don't get any improvement points from that particular drawback nor can it be bought off via improvement points. And should the weapon ever die via said Drawback's effects, it would effectively free the soul piece to commit havoc on your life.

Biography

1) Who were you buried next to, what is your relation to them, and why do you care about them so much?

I was buried next to my brother Atzi and my mother Chimalma. They have always looked after me and saved me from peril of my fathers whip.

2) How did you die and how did the Afterlife you experienced reflect your end and your original life?

I was killed by a sword to the gut and then a bullet to the head as I kept trying to fight. The afterlife is a peaceful place my duwat was a peace. I saw the horror of what the was inflicted to my brethren. I tried to go back many times but was never able. My new life is with purpose and determination I am longer and young man hiding behind my brother I am my own man and will instill the legacy of the Aztec's.
