Legendary Artifact

Ring of Power

Created and held by Jules.
a silver wedding ring

While Jules bears the Seal of Nephthys, the Goddess herself protects him, until such a time as he has avenged his family & returned the stolen artifacts of the Goddess. When Jules would be harmed one can see slender arms composed of shadows that ward off the attack. Even ethereal attacks can be thwarted by the Embrace of Darkness. When employing his Defensive Curl this effect is even more pronounced, with the wings of the Goddess enfolding him completely in a display of otherworldly power.

You gain the following benefits as long as you are wearing this Artifact.

You have 5 Armor, which reduces incoming Damage. Armor from multiple sources does not stack.

You may Exert your Mind and spend an Action or Reaction to double your armor rating for the Round.

When you take damage from a source which is within 5 feet of you, your Armor deals 5 back to them.

Those that bear the blessing of Nephthys, Goddess of Darkness, may defy the will of Geb, God of the Earth, running or walking up vertical surfaces or even sitting comfortably on the ceiling. This blessing remains in effect at all times, provided they bear the Seal of Nephthys as a conduit for the Goddess powers & remain in good standing with her; blasphemers may find this power fails them when they need it most...

Exert your Mind (unless Night/shadows) and spend an Action to activate.

You may move easily and without a roll in any of the following situations. Lasts 1 hour.

  • Spider Climber: You are able to climb on and cling to any surface without regard for the ordinary rules of gravity. You climb at your normal movespeed.
  • Surface Skimmer: You are able to move across the top of any bodies of water, ice, or other surfaces where others might sink with no penalty to your movement speed.

  • This Effect not provide any inherent protection from dangerous surfaces such as acid, lava, etc, so be careful!

The Gods of Ancient Egypt are renowned for their treasures. By holding or touching an item with one hand & making mystic passes with the hand bearing the Seal of Nephthys, Jules may invoke the Goddess to learn who values it, where it has recently been, & the presence of magical influence.

Exert your Mind and spend a minute to activate. Select a target Object within arm's reach. At the end of your investigation, roll Dexterity + Legerdemain at Difficulty 6.

You learn all the following information about your target:

  • Determine if this Object is Alien in origin or whether it has any Alien energy or outside influences.
  • You can discern where this object has recently been; this may be in the form of GPS coordinates, a visual description of the surrounding area, or other.
  • You gather information about who has used this object recently, which usually comes in the form of a visual description, but it could be a scent, a factoid about the individual, etc.
  • You learn the object's intended function and how to use it for its intended purpose, though not necessarily the ability to do so.
The quality and specificity of information gained depends on your Outcome.

After you finish activating this Effect, you cannot move quicker than a walk (max 15 feet per Round) for one minute and suffer a -1 dice penalty for an hour.

  • You can target yourself if you qualify as a valid target by the other requirements.

The egytians have been well know to hide their most precious valuables. This time the bag has been shifted and changed now a small part of the bag has been made so Gwell can hide and get air as she need to spend her time away from people.

Spend a Free Action to activate. This Effect cannot be used unless night/shadows.

You may withdraw an item from your stash, or add an item that is within arm’s reach to your stash. You may store Objects or Living things in your stash, each no larger than something which could fit inside a briefcase (15 liters), and you may store up to 7 things at a time.

  • Attempting to stash an Animate target may require a contested roll at GM’s discretion.
  • Containers which hold multiple things may count as a single item so long as the things within are generally packaged together. For instance, you may stash a clip full of bullets, a medical kit full of medical supplies, or a box of crackers, but you cannot stash a backpack full of miscellaneous equipment.
  • You may only attempt to store Objects which are free-standing and disconnected from other things. The use of this Effect will not allow you to sever any connections holding an Object in place.
  • The Maximum Object Size parameter is intended to roughly capture the weight / size restriction of items and isn’t intended to restrict shape. GM discretion is advised. A human being is level 4 in the Maximum Object Size parameter.

The power of the Gods has given me the ability to no longer feel pain.

You gain the following benefits as long as as long as night/shadows and you are wearing this Artifact.

Your Body and Mind Penalties are reduced to 0.

While Incapacitated, you may Exert your Mind to take a single action.

Any Body Penalty you would have had is instead added as a dice bonus to any rolls you make.

Any dice penalty from being stunned, diseased, cold, hot, dizzy, sick, distracted, or similar circumstances is reduced to zero. Does not affect penalties from Effects you activated.

From the ashes of despair a God appears before you. Anubis has returned to deal death and destruction in the name of the Godess. Jules transforms into a God like figure and is able to cause wanton destruction around him.

Expend a point of Battery and spend a Quick Action to activate. This Effect cannot be used unless Shadows/Darkness.

You transform into Annubis! for 30 minutes. You have access to all of your Powers while you are Annubis!, and you can use your equipment. The Injuries and Battle Scars of your Alternate Form and your true form are tracked separately. While transformed, your Attributes are the same.

Your alternate form is its own deadly weapon. Unarmed attacks made in your alternate form deal +3 Bonus Damage and Brawn does not act as Armor against them.

You cannot speak any coherent verbal language and must resort to other means of communication.

  • Reminder: Bonus Damage from multiple sources does not stack. Instead, the highest Bonus is used.

Jules has taken a Sacred Oath to the Goddess of mourning, darkness, the dead, protection, magic, health, embalming, & beer. Until the day he can return all her stolen artifacts, she sustains his life - causing even the most grievous wounds to heal in days.

Jules must be wearing her sacred ring, the Seal of Nephthys, for her healing power to flow.

You gain the following benefits as long as as long as Shadows/Darkness and you are wearing this Artifact.

Any Injury you receive heals quickly, reducing its Severity by one level each hour, starting once it becomes stabilized. Battle Scars caused by your Injuries are also healed when the Injuries that caused them regenerate.

By invoking the Goddess of Darkness in a short ritual, Jules can draw the shadows to him, rendering him unseen & unheard. He must be wearing the Seal of Nephthys & must invoke her secret names, not known to any living mortal for this power to function. If he steps into the shadows he now can disapear much easier.

You gain the following benefits as long as as long as night/shadows and you are wearing this Artifact.

You and any clothes or equipment you are wearing are obscured from non-human senses. All attempts to detect you via non-human senses fail. Detection attempts via other senses where non-human senses would assist are rolled at a -2 dice penalty.

Entering Combat or being Injured will end the Effect. When the Effect ends, it is disabled for 1 minute.

  • This does not include enhanced versions of common senses, such as a bloodhound nose.

Through the power of magic and Egyptian scroll Jules has learned and figured how to speak to those that he could not speak to in the past through the spirits. He can now talk to the dead, humans that can not speak my language.

Exert your Mind and spend an Action to activate. Select a Sapient being, human, Creature, or Dead target within arm's reach. Dead targets must have died within the past week, and you must have their remains in your possession. This Effect cannot be used unless Shadows/Darkness.

The target can communicate in your language for the next ten minutes.

  • Communing with creatures does not grant them intellect but does allow you to converse with them.
  • The target of "human" refers to any target that speaks a human language.
  • You can target yourself if you qualify as a valid target by the other requirements.

Morrigan Morphic Arm, Mk1

Created and held by Tommy Morrigan.
The first ensorcelled weapon crafted by the thaumsmith Morrigan.

A silver watch with a green leather band. With a thought and a whir of mechanical parts, it grows and expands into a sawn-off, pump action shotgun in the grip of the wearer. The shape of the weapon can then be altered as necessary to fit the needs of the wielder.

This Artifact can be used as a Shotgun. It is roughly the same size as a Shotgun but can be collapsed into a watch and concealed. Collapsing or expanding it costs a Free Action.

Attack by rolling Dexterity + Firearms, Difficulty 6. Successful attacks deal 2 Weapon Damage +1 Bonus Damage. The target's Armor is fully effective against this damage.

Possession of this Artifact causes the following Battle Scar to manifest over the course of a day: Veins of metal creeping up the dominant arm of the wielder. If you lose possession of this Artifact, the Battle Scar heals over the course of the next month.

Possession of this Artifact causes the following Trauma to manifest over the course of a day: Will not willingly part with this artifact. If you lose possession of this Artifact, the Trauma heals over the course of the next month.

  • You may spend a Quick Action to change this firearm's base stats into those of any other basic firearm.

  • Changing this weapon's base type affects its range, Weapon Damage, concealability, and roll. Other mechanics of the chosen base firearm (such as the tripod requirement for sniper rifles) apply.
  • Rifles are +1 difficulty to use in melee range. Sniper Rifles are +3 difficulty to use without a tripod or in melee range. Setting up a tripod takes an Action.

Rah'Zayr

Created and held by Leonard Alean.
A symbiotic mana-crystalline growth located around the spinal cord.

Leonard surges forward, as his back jerks upwards. In a flurry of mana particles and bloody red, crystalline shards begin to tear themselves free. Soon after, following the emergence of its extensions, the Guardian raises its primary body, in a gruesome display of warping its physical form outside of its host. Almost as if his spine were the entity itself, the Guardian would fully tear itself out his back, arching out its enormous crystalline 'limbs', as it stretches out several meters, taking careful guard behind its host.

The guardian is a mana symbiote long forgotten by history, almost all knowledge having been lost to the careful work of the Sabisians. The rare few scholars that still hold existing records of these beings believe them to long be extinct, lost to mana wars passed long since and the Sabisian incursion.

While in its docile state, the Guardian appears as a crystalline growth connected directly to its hosts nervous system through the spinal cord, easily being visible to the naked eye underneath the skin, alongside visible patches of mana-crystalline material left in patches above the skin containing it. While in its docile form, the guardian remains in a sort of dormant state, co-existing with its host and feeding off of its body.

During its active phase, the Guardian appears to burst out of body of its host. Despite this appearance, this process is all but a trick of the eyes, in reality being no more than an energy transference as the Guardian takes form, leaving behind no actual wounds on the host's body. The crystalline being seen during its active phase is not in reality the entity's true form, that being the crystaline growth located inside the host. Henceforth, destroying the active entity does little but return it back into its primary shell, where it can recover.

In appearance, during the active phase, the Guardian is a large, several meters tall crystalline biomechanical creature. It is composed of a long lanky crystalline 'spine' flanked by long sharpened shards that it uses to strike at the enemy or otherwise carry out its commands. When out of range, it uses a head-like appendage, which it can seemingly use to see, to fire a directed burst of energy.

The Guardian forms a bond with its host during the symbiotic period, carrying out their commands on its own free will, in exchange, the host provides it safety and nutrition.

Exert your Mind and spend an Action to activate.

Summon a single Guardian at your location. They will last until they are destroyed. They are controlled by the GM but will follow any commands you give. You may have at most 1 minion active at a time.

Minions have 6 Body and can make ranged attacks at targets up to 30 feet away with 5 dice to attack and +1 Damage. Your minions can move 20 feet per Round as Free Movement, and double that when performing an all-out Sprint. They cannot dodge or Defend. They have dog-level intelligence, and cannot communicate back to you. Any Perception checks they make are rolled with 8 dice.

Anyone who witnesses you during this Effect's activation or for its duration will almost certainly be disturbed to see The guardian 'tears' itself out of the hosts back.

Possession of this Artifact causes the following Battle Scar to manifest over the course of a day: Crystalline-mineral growth around the spine. If you lose possession of this Artifact, the Battle Scar heals over the course of the next month.

  • When narrating disturbing content, be cognizant of your group's tone and accommodating to those who would like to "fast forward" through the description.

Safety rope

Created and held by Andrew Went.
A 200 foot blue climbing rope

Andrew's lucky rope will never break. He knows anytime someone messes with his rope.

This Artifact cannot be broken.

If this Artifact is used by someone other than its creator, its creator is alerted and learns the user's appearance, direction, and distance at that moment. The creator may use a single investigation Effect on them once at any range. The user gets the feeling that they are being watched.

  • "Cannot be broken" means that damage cannot render the Artifact's Effects unusable, nor can it cease to be used for its primary mundane purpose, if it has one.

Ring of Phasing

Created and held by Dr. Jenna Harkness.
This platinum ring holds a translucent opal that shimmers when the power is activated..

When Dr Jenna Harkness uses this ring her body shimmers as if light was passing over glass. She is transparent and can not interact with objects in the world.

Exert your Mind and spend an Action to activate.

You become intangible for the next 1 minute. Once you revert to your solid form, you cannot use this Power again for 1 hour.

While intangible, you take no damage from physical attacks, and many Effects will be unable to interact with you. You cannot use any of your own Gifts. You cannot touch or interact with things in the physical world.

You may “drop” any intangible items which are on your person. They become tangible again once you have let them go.

You may end this effect prematurely as a Free Action.

  • Effects that do not require a physical target may still affect you. It is ultimately at GMs discretion whether a given mystical or supernatural thing in a Scenario will impact intangible targets, but generally things with physical components will fail to work properly on you when you are in this state.
  • Any items and equipment on your person become intangible along with you. You can hold them and move them around, but they are intangible and thus will not work for their intended purposes.

Stock Legendary Artifacts

This Effect activates whenever combat begins. It does not require an Action or Exertion.

You automatically detect all people wielding weapons within 50 feet of you for the next minute. This includes any who come within range during the duration. You have a sense of how many valid targets are nearby and their direction, and you have a clear sense of both the distance and direction towards any detected beings. This information is accurate enough to use for aiming at them, at +1 Difficulty.

This Artifact can change its appearance. When not transformed, it is roughly the same size as a passport and just as difficult to conceal.

Exert your Mind and spend an Action to activate. This Artifact changes its appearance into an Object within the category of forms of identification. This lasts until you decide to end the Effect, which may be done as a Free Action.

The new object's appearance can mimic specific items (such as a particular painting, a certain person’s ID, etc), but must be of a similar size and weight to this Artifact.

The new appearance is illusory; it will hold up to scrutiny, but its composition is not altered and it gains no new functionality. Any attempt to use it for a function which it cannot perform (for instance, making bread look like a knife and then trying to stab someone) will cause the illusion to fail or allow a Perception check to see through the illusion, at the GM's discretion.

This Effect activates whenever you are recorded. It does not require an Action or Exertion. Select a Non-Sapient Object within 20 feet no larger than a duffel bag (35 liters). Roll Perception + Culture Difficulty 6.

If your Outcome is 4 or higher, the target will be completely destroyed and can no longer function, though it may still be repaired. If your Outcome is less than 4, the target will be partially damaged, and any attempts to use it will suffer a dice penalty equal to your Outcome.

  • The penalty from an object being damaged will stack with itself if a target is hit multiple times, but the object is destroyed when it reaches a total penalty of -4.
  • You can target yourself if you qualify as a valid target by the other requirements.

The Bug-out Bag

No hiker would bat an eye if they saw someone wearing this 80 liter backpacking pack in the backcountry. Those who look closer find it's made of a curious mix of modern materials and what appears to be rawhide stitching.

This Artifact can be used as a container. It is roughly the same size as a 80 liter backpacking pack and just as difficult to conceal.

Your 80 liter backpacking pack holds 5 times what it normally could. Objects stored inside are weightless.

Living things can be stored in your 80 liter backpacking pack. They will have access to anything else inside and may attempt to break free, damaging or destroying the 80 liter backpacking pack in the process.

If your 80 liter backpacking pack is destroyed, things inside may get out, and it will cease to function until it is repaired.

Only you may open and close the container. Others can still destroy it to get at the contents

  • There is no cost to use your container.

This Artifact cannot be broken.

This Artifact's creator is always aware of the direction and distance to this Artifact.

  • "Cannot be broken" means that damage cannot render the Artifact's Effects unusable, nor can it cease to be used for its primary mundane purpose, if it has one.

This Artifact can change its appearance. When not transformed, it is roughly the same size as a passport and just as difficult to conceal.
