Born to a human mother and a powerful vampire father, he was a middle child, often in the shadow of his gifted and talented siblings. To his and his father's disappointment, he took the most after his mother, lacking in vampiric powers and strength. While his family never openly admitted to it, the pressure and disdain from outside circles really weighed on Thale's young mind. Not only was he considered a failure by higher vampires, his whole family was looked down upon for coexisting with a human. Eventually though, his mother would start to feel that contempt and passing years taking a toll on her body, and so she would also join her husband as a creature of the night in order to preserve her youth. With this he drifted apart from his family even further, unable to find comfort in his no longer human mother.
There were many things that contributed to him leaving his home and family, but the one that tipped the scales was overhearing no other than his own mother, renounce him in a conversation during a ball. Usually he would sit in his room to avoid disparaging looks while fellow vampire nobility danced and indulged in their eternal pleasures, but this time he decided to use his experience sneaking out to taste some of that fun himself. There he saw his parents talking to what he can only assume important guests, awkwardly dismissing him as a mistake in order to save their face after the topic landed on him.
Feeling finally rejected and no longer at home, he quietly retreated to his room to pack some essential things, among which was a family heirloom in the shape of a beautiful ornate dagger, and his favourite crimson jacket. Leaving only a note for his younger sister, who was the only one to show him nothing but kindness and understanding, he quietly left through the window, not sure if he's ever to come back.
