Vladimir Novikov is a chess prodigy who will risk his life to become the ultimate immortal ruler and use people as he would chess piece's.

He is 13 years old, lives in an oligarchs mansion in Moscow, and often appears as An introverted short kid with Black hair and a black and white suit. When you look down(which isn't very far because he is 4 6") you see black and white shoes, a black and white cat named king, and a cane. He is Obsessed with chess and always mumbling to himself about ruling the world.

Movement

Movement is taken immediately before OR after your Action. It cannot be split.
You may Free Move (0) feet. Minimum 5 feet.
You may Dash up to an additional (0 feet).
- Dashing penalizes your Action -1 die per 5 feet.
All-out Sprint: instead of using free Movement or Dash, you may spend your Action and roll Brawn + Athletics ( dice) Difficulty 6. You move (0 + (Outcome x 5) Feet).

Actions

Attack with your weapon or hands.
Evade by rolling to Defend or Dodge. Your Outcome is "spent" to reduce the Outcome of any incoming attacks until your next Action.
Activate a Power or use an Ability as normal.
Hold your Action by declaring an Action and a triggering event. If the event occurs before your turn on the next Round, you perform the Action.

I'm being attacked

If you have not yet spent your Action this Round, you may use it as a Reaction.

Reactions

Dodge by rolling Dexterity + Athletics ( dice) Difficulty 6. Your Outcome is subtracted from the attacker's.
Defend with your weapon by rolling its attack roll. Your Outcome is subtracted from the attacker's. Availability depends on weapon match-up (tap/hover).
Clash with the attacker using the same roll you would use to Defend. The higher Outcome (not contested) is treated as the result of a successful, undefended attack roll against the loser.

Desperate Defense

If you have already used your Action, you may Exert your Mind to perform a Reaction. Your next Round's Action receives a -2 dice penalty. You cannot Clash as a Desperate Defense.

Will to Survive

Once per Contract, you may reduce the severity of an incoming Injury up to 4 Severity levels (to a minimum of Severity 4). You take a point of Mind damage and suffer a Major Battle Scar that lingers after the Injury is healed, even with proper Stabilization.

If an attack's Outcome is positive after defense, it results in a new Injury with Severity = Outcome + Weapon damage - Armor

Proper Stabilization

Requires an advanced first aid kit for Severity 4 Injuries, a field surgery kit for Severity 5 Injuries, and a surgery theater for Severity 6+ Injuries.

Roll Intellect + Medicine, Difficulty equal to Severity

An Outcome of 1 or greater will Stabilize the Injury and stop its degradation.
Complete success (Outcome 4+) puts the Injury on track to heal clean: its Battle Scar heals with it.
Failed attempts can be retried at +1 Difficulty per failure.
On a Botch, the Injury's Severity increases by 1.

Makeshift Stabilization

Attempt a major treatment using insufficient or improvised medical equipment.

Roll Intellect + Medicine, Difficulty > Severity

(Difficulty based on materials and tactics used)

Any positive Outcome (1+) will Stabilize the Injury and stop its degradation.
However, any Outcome less than 4 increases the Injury’s Severity by 1. Botches also worsen its Battle Scar.
Regardless of Outcome, any Battle Scars caused by the Injury will persist after it is fully healed.
Failed attempts can be retried at +1 Difficulty per failure.

Self-stabilization attempts are rolled at +1 Difficulty.

Short You are very short, 4’6” at most. You have difficulty reaching or manipulating objects designed for normal adults, and your move speed is reduced by half.

Glass Jaw You are easily knocked out. Whenever you take an Injury that is Severity 4 or higher, or if you take any blow to your head, you pass out for the next Round. When you pass out, you drop what was in your hands, fall to the ground, cannot move, and cannot take any Actions.

Convenient Klutz Your manner of tripping over yourself is so unpredictable, it makes you difficult to target. When you are attacked, you may spend a Reaction to instead fall on your face and take a Severity-1 Injury, avoiding the attack. Only works if your Dexterity rating is 1.

Pathetic You are so pathetic, no one takes you seriously as a threat. Opponents must succeed a Difficulty 7 Mind roll in order to attack you instead of other opponents in combat. Only works if your Brawn rating is 1.

Focused You are able to remain focused despite your circumstances and surroundings. Any Mind Penalty you have is reduced by 2.

Biography

Vladimir Novikov is a thirteen-year-old boy currently under the care of a Russian oligarch. His parents sent him away to the orphanage at the age of 3 due to their inability to pay for his cerebral palsy treatment. Fortunately, he only spent a year there because he was adopted by his current guardian a Russian oligarch. His father hired professors to teach him subjects such as world politics, the languages of Russian allies, and continue his advancement in his favorite subject of all, chess. Grandmasters would come from around the world to teach him. Some even came to learn from him. He won his first chess championship at the age of 8 and for some reason felt emptier than expected. He knew he was a great chess player but soon another subject became more interesting to him. Politics. The joys of controlling others were just like the chess pieces he had become so accustomed to. He knew what he wanted. The immortal ruler of a global Soviet Union had a nice ring to it.
