Charlie is a park ranger who will risk their life to become the ultimate wizard and end the extinction of animals.

They are 25 years old, live in small apartment with 1 contractor roommate Abigail, and often appears as a nonbinary icon! on the other side basic cheap costume wizard attire with a clearly fake beard and a pathetic plastic wand.

Charlie lives in Terms and Conditions, a setting where rent is high and will to live is low.

You get one Movement and one Action on your turn every Round of Combat.

Movement

Movement is taken immediately before OR after your Action. It cannot be split.
You may Free Move (0) feet. Minimum 5 feet.
You may Dash up to an additional (0 feet).
- Dashing penalizes your Action -1 die per 5 feet.
All-out Sprint: instead of using free Movement or Dash, you may spend your Action and roll Brawn + Athletics ( dice) Difficulty 6. You move (0 + (Outcome x 5) Feet).

Actions

Attack with your weapon or hands.
Evade by rolling to Defend or Dodge. Your Outcome is "spent" to reduce the Outcome of any incoming attacks until your next Action.
Activate a Power or use an Ability as normal.
Hold your Action by declaring an Action and a triggering event. If the event occurs before your turn on the next Round, you perform the Action.

If you have not yet spent your Action this Round, you may use it as a Reaction.

Reactions

Dodge by rolling Dexterity + Athletics ( dice) Difficulty 6. Your Outcome is subtracted from the attacker's.
Defend with your weapon by rolling its attack roll. Your Outcome is subtracted from the attacker's. Availability depends on weapon match-up (tap/hover).
Clash with the attacker using the same roll you would use to Defend. The higher Outcome (not contested) is treated as the result of a successful, undefended attack roll against the loser.

Desperate Defense

If you have already used your Action, you may Exert your Mind to perform a Reaction. Your next Round's Action receives a -2 dice penalty. You cannot Clash as a Desperate Defense or React more than once to a given Action.

Will to Survive

Once per Contract, you may reduce the severity of an incoming Injury up to 5 Severity levels (to a minimum of Severity 5). You also take a point of Mind Damage and suffer a Battle Scar as normal.

If an attack's Outcome is positive after defense, it results in a new Injury with Severity = Outcome + Weapon damage - Armor

Injuries Severity 4+ cause a Battle Scar or Equipment destruction and always require Stabilization

Stabilization is the Injury's main treatment, and each Injury can only be successfully Stabilized once

Unstabilized Injuries worsen by 1 Severity level every half hour

Proper Stabilization

Requires an advanced first aid kit for Severity 4 Injuries, a surgery setup for Severity 5 Injuries, and a surgery theater for Severity 6+ Injuries.

Roll Intellect + Medicine, Difficulty equal to Severity

An Outcome of 1 or greater will Stabilize the Injury and stop its degradation.
Outcome 4+ puts the Injury on track to heal clean: its Battle Scar heals with it.
On a Botch, the Injury's Severity increases by 1.
Failed or Botched attempts may be re-attempted at +1 Difficulty per failure.

Makeshift Stabilization

Attempt a major treatment using insufficient or improvised medical equipment.

Roll Intellect + Medicine, Difficulty > Severity

Outcome 1+ will Stabilize the Injury and stop its degradation.
However, any Outcome less than 4 increases the Injury’s Severity by 1. Botches also worsen its Battle Scar if it caused one.
Regardless of Outcome, any Battle Scars caused by the Injury will persist after it is fully healed.
Failed or Botched attempts may be retried at +1 Difficulty per failure.

Self-stabilization attempts are rolled at +1 Difficulty.

Battle Scars

Dice penalties from Battle Scars do not stack with Stress

Soft Spot (A specific spot on your body was previously injured and is now extremely vulnerable to further attacks. Called shots against your soft spot do +2 damage. If an attack hits you which could conceivably hit your soft spot, roll 1d10 at Difficulty 6. If you fail, the attack hits your soft spot and does +2 damage.)

Lanky You are particularly tall and have long limbs. Your "touch" range is ten feet instead of the standard five.

Deep Sleeper You require more sleep than most people, and are quick to fall asleep but slow to wake up. All attempts to put you to sleep succeed automatically. A full restful sleep requires at least 10 hours of sleep. Attempts to wake you up while sleeping, as well as Perception checks you make while you’re sleeping, are at +2 difficulty.

Animal You have the body of an animal. You are not capable of fine object manipulation, using equipment made for humans, or speaking a human language. You have no human legal status. Your form may impart other benefits or drawbacks depending on your species. Benefits are limited to a +3 dice bonus to one or two Actions your species is specifically adapted for (e.g. a chameleon blending in, a bloodhound tracking something by scent). You use your sheet’s stats as normal.

Biography

Charlie is a semi-well known park ranger in Yellowstone, known for their love of nature, the outdoors, and all animals. Charlie is a twig-like 6'5 Russian American who's parents immagrated to the US in 1991 after the cold war ended with the fall of the USSR. They currently live with their roommate Abigail in Jackson Whole Wyoming in a small cozy 2 bedroom apartment, with a spectacular breathtaking view of a red brick wall out their main window. Born in 1999 and grew up basically in the outdoors, was effectuated with the beauty it beholds and learned the rules of the wilderness very early on understanding that it wasn't just the animals that we have to respect out in the woods.
