Cedric Rhodes is a talented swordsman from an ancient mystical order known as the Lasair Nicneven who will risk his life to become the ultimate master of fire and sword and rekindle the sacred flame within the Lasair Nicneven order bringing his organization back to it's former glory.

He is 21 years old, lives in The Lasair Nicneven's hidden stronghold which is nestled deep within the Scottish highlands shrouded by a perpetual mist far from prying eyes. The stronghold has fallen into heavy disrepair and abandon; only a few lingering souls remain, praying for the sacred flame to return., and often appears as a tall man with strikingly pale skin, silver hair, and vivid red eyes, often described as angelic or pretty despite his athletic physique. His long, pure white hair, tinged with subtle hues of grey, blue, and green, and his emotionless, neutral voice contribute to a demeanour that many find unapproachable and stoic.

Actions

Attack with your weapon or hands.
Evade by rolling to Defend or Dodge. Your Outcome is "spent" to reduce the Outcome of any incoming attacks until your next Action.

Hold your Action by declaring an Action and a triggering event. If the event occurs before your turn on the next Round, you perform the Action.

Reactions

Dodge by rolling Dexterity + Athletics ( dice) Difficulty 6. Your Outcome is subtracted from the attacker's.
Defend with your weapon by rolling its attack roll. Your Outcome is subtracted from the attacker's. Availability depends on weapon match-up (tap/hover).
Clash with the attacker using the same roll you would use to Defend. The higher Outcome (not contested) is treated as the result of a successful, undefended attack roll against the loser.

Desperate Defense

If you have already used your Action, you may Exert your Mind to perform a Reaction. Your next Round's Action receives a -2 dice penalty. You cannot Clash as a Desperate Defense.

Will to Survive

Once per Contract, you may reduce the severity of an incoming Injury up to 4 Severity levels (to a minimum of Severity 4). You take a point of Mind damage and suffer a Major Battle Scar that lingers after the Injury is healed, even with proper Stabilization.

If an attack's Outcome is positive after defense, it results in a new Injury with Severity = Outcome + Weapon damage - Armor

Makeshift Stabilization

Attempt a major treatment using insufficient or improvised medical equipment.

Biography

Cedric Rhodes was born into a dynasty of power and obligation. Son of Alistair Rhodes, the Grandmaster of Lasair Nicneven - an order of ancient warriors cloaked deep within Scottish Highlands, worshipping a Celtic fairy queen called Nicneven who endowed upon them the powers of the sacred flame. Cedric grew up amid their sacred customs and rigorous training rituals. At a young age, he was being groomed to take over from his dad, learning how to conjure fire with his hands, and how to use swords as well as participating in old rites that tied the order spiritually to their divine patroness Nicneven. During his childhood years, he combined tough training with his determined attitude to become a bewitchingly talented knight.

Alistair Rhodes, father to Cedric and the Grandmaster of Lasair Nicneven died during what appeared as a very suspicious event that involved a malevolent spirit. This was a terrible and premature passing away that left the order in disarray and unsure of what to do next. The previously venerated institution had difficulties remaining influential and coherent due to internal conflict as well as external menace. Worst of all, the sacred flame was extinguished, weakening the power source of all knights of the order.

To become grandmaster, Cedric Rhodes set out to reignite the sacred flame of the Lasair Nicneven, carrying on his father's legacy and bringing the order back to life. He started accepting risky contracts at the age of 21 to fight supernatural threats and find lost artefacts. Cedric wanted to solve the unanswered questions about his father's death including the evil forces at work while also strengthening the order, restoring its former glory, and honouring his father's sacrifice.
