Travis Lewis is a 25 year-old Caucasian male of medium build and normal height. He is clean shaven with well kempt hair and glasses, and has the look of a professional academic. Within formal or academic settings he dresses in khakis, blazers, or tweed jackets. In informal settings, he tends to wear cargo pants and novelty T-shirts. He has several tattoos that are well-hidden under professional dress.
Lewis is a newly minted instructor of folklore and mythology at a local university, having recently obtained his Ph.D.
Lewis grew up in a working-class family somewhere in the Appalachian mountains. Lewis, being something of an intellectual and nerd, and refusing to pay lip service to Christianity and other social staples of the area, suffered horribly while growing up. He was verbally (sometimes physically abused) and ostracized.
While growing up, Lewis noticed how a particular form of Protestant Christianity pervaded the local culture. Lewis became fascinated with religion as a motivating social force. He began to read about various religions, which in turn developed into an interest in folklore and mythology. This also led him to take up an interest in the occult and religious cults.
Having won a scholarship to college, Lewis joined a local group of pagans and further explored the occult, practicing magic with the group and in private. Lewis was looked down upon by the in-crowd for his low economic class, his rustic background, and his open paganism.
Lewis, having been largely snubbed in broader society for his low-class, rustic upbringing, desires nothing more than power and prestige. His master goal is to become a respected academic and author, and through his classes and publications, to amass a following. Lewis has the ultimate goal of crafting his own religious cult whose followers might even propel him into politics.
At the start of the contract, Lewis is interested in exploring any local supernatural occurrences which may increase his knowledge and power.
