Legendary Artifact

Created and held by Jules.
A grey backpack

The Goddess of Darkness assists Jules in his quest to return her sacred objects. She has allowed the backpack he was wearing the day he retrieved the Seal of Nephthys to form a bridge into the Otherworld. This 50 liter Backpack can hold an astonishing 150 liters. The pack can only be opened to the Otherworldly Dimension of Nephthys when in shadows or darkness - at all other times, it appears to be empty.

This Artifact can be used as a container. It is roughly the same size as a backpack and just as difficult to conceal. Unless night/shadows, this Artifact behaves as its mundane counterpart.

Your backpack holds 30 times times what it normally could. Objects stored inside are weightless.

Living things can be stored in your backpack. They will have access to anything else inside and may attempt to break free, damaging or destroying the backpack in the process.

If your backpack is destroyed, things inside may get out, and it will cease to function until it is repaired.

  • There is no cost to use your container.

Leviathan’s Rings of Binding

Created and held by Kyle Hughes.
A Pair of Rings with engravings of fishing line and sea serpents. One (the source ring) is gold, and the other, (the binding ring, is silver)

When the person wearing the silver ring moves 5ft or more away from the person wearing the gold ring, the silver ring turns into iron fishing line that tangles and binds down its bearer. When the bindings are broken free of, they transform back into a silver ring at the spot the bindings are broken. Both the gold and the silver ring glow a bright blue when this effect is activated.

If one studies the fishing line in more detail, they notice small engravings of sea serpents and beasts of the depths carved along its thin lengths in miniature detail. Inside the gold ring is inscribed a short line “May thy ambition weigh down leviathans”

Spend an Action to activate. Select a target within 20 feet. This Effect cannot be used unless the wearer of the silver ring is >5ft away from the gold ring, and as long as both rings are worn, the wearer of the gold ring may spend an action to transform the silver ring into iron fishing line that binds its wearer.. Roll Brawn + Legerdemain at Difficulty 6. The target] may contest by Defending or Dodging.

If you succeed, your target will be restricted at their location by a physical, tangible binding. They cannot move to a new location, and any physical actions they take suffer a dice penalty equal to twice the contested Outcome from the Effect activation, except attempts to escape or break the binding, which only suffer half this penalty.

The binding around a target must be destroyed in order for them to break free. Breaking the binding requires a total amount of damage equal to twice the contested Outcome from the Effect activation. Damage from multiple attacks is cumulative and stacks linearly.

This Gift's level is capped at 2 Gifts and cannot be increased further.

  • For entities whose movement could be considered an attack (e.g. a kaiju), the GM may rule that they are merely slowed instead of fully restricted.
  • You can target yourself if you qualify as a valid target by the other requirements.

The reaper's turncloak

Created by Leon Vanderblight, given to Penny Roberts.
To be given to Penny Roberts in exchange for assistance in locating Kitsune stones

An appropriately named jacket, coming in a variety of colors and woven with kevlar fabrics this blend of modern technology and fantastical ability can take you from anywhere to Leon's own home base. Though he's loathe to hand these out to any but those he trusts beyond all else, their incredible value in getting out of a shit situation when all else fails is beyond measure.

Exert your Mind and spend 2 rounds to activate. If you are at The heartstone of the Imp's Bog in Russia, you may choose a target Location within your line of sight; otherwise, your target may only be The heartstone of the Imp's Bog in Russia.

You are transported directly to the chosen Location. You must wait an hour before activating this effect again.

  • You can target yourself if you qualify as a valid target by the other requirements.

Stock Legendary Artifacts

This Artifact can change its appearance. When not transformed, it is roughly the same size as a passport and just as difficult to conceal.

Exert your Mind and spend an Action to activate. This Artifact changes its appearance into an Object within the category of forms of identification. This lasts until you decide to end the Effect, which may be done as a Free Action.

The new object's appearance can mimic specific items (such as a particular painting, a certain person’s ID, etc), but must be of a similar size and weight to this Artifact.

The new appearance is illusory; it will hold up to scrutiny, but its composition is not altered and it gains no new functionality. Any attempt to use it for a function which it cannot perform (for instance, making bread look like a knife and then trying to stab someone) will cause the illusion to fail or allow a Perception check to see through the illusion, at the GM's discretion.

You gain the following benefits as long as you are not at all wet and you are wearing this Artifact.

You and any clothes or equipment you are wearing are partially obscured from sight. All attempts to detect you using sight are rolled at a -3 dice penalty, , and all attempts to detect you where sight would assist are rolled at -1 penalty.

Entering Combat or being Injured does not cause the Effect to end early. Anyone you attack will immediately notice you; anyone else may re-roll to notice you each time you take a Combat action, at -1 Difficulty per Combat action you have taken. When the Effect ends, it is disabled for 1 hour.

  • GMs should use their discretion when determining the exact impacts of this Effect, particularly in conjunction with environmental factors. Standing still against a complex background may render you impossible to detect, and footprints in snow may make it easy. A chance to detect you is not guaranteed.

Take a Severity-1 Injury and spend an Action to activate. Select a Dead target within arm's reach with at least half its skeletal structure remaining. Make a Trauma roll when you activate this Effect.

Your target rises as an Animate being. The raised creature is totally mindless, with no memory of its past life or hint of its old personality. They can communicate as they would have been able to in life. They will follow any command you speak.

The creature lasts for the next day or until it dies again. It is revived at full health. Any Injuries it had in life are not accounted for when determining its penalties or progression towards re-death, though they may affect its ability to perform certain actions at GM's discretion.

Raised creatures have their Abilities set to the same that they were in life. Their Charisma and Intellect are set to 1, but their Dexterity, Brawn and Perception are the same as they had in life. A raised creature cannot use any Effects.

  • You can target yourself if you qualify as a valid target by the other requirements.

The Skeleton Key

At first glance, this appears to be a standard, modern house key made of ivory. A close observer might compliment its skull-shaped head or usual material. No one would suspect it to be one of the Thief's most prized possessions: The Skeleton Key.

Spend an Action to activate.

You may lock, unlock, and/or open any number of doors, locks, or locked targets within arm's reach of you. Cannot be used on Alien technology.

If you successfully operate a lock, you may choose to destroy it, rendering it inoperable.

This Gift's Cost is capped at 2 and cannot be increased further.

  • Any door or restraint that is fastened or shut with a mechanism may be considered locked, at the GM's discretion. Can be used on control panels or other electronic locks, but not computer security systems.
  • If you operate a locking mechanism through this Effect which has some other secondary effect (such as the ignition on a car causing the car to start) you may cause that effect as well.
  • You can target yourself if you qualify as a valid target by the other requirements.

You gain the following benefits as long as you are wearing this Artifact.

You have 5 Armor, which reduces incoming Damage. Armor from multiple sources does not stack.

Your Armor cannot be destroyed or shredded, and it always provides a minimum of 2 Armor regardless of any Armor penetration. Your Armor cannot be circumvented with Called Shots.

Any time your Armor prevents damage, your total Armor rating is temporarily decreased by 1. Whenever you go two Rounds without preventing any damage, it is restored back to its full value.

  • Armor recharging happens automatically and does not require an Action.
