Legendary Artifact

Nikki's Crowbar

Created and held by Nikki Sparks.
An old crowbar, worn and cracked in places, but holding on

Nikki focuses, channelling the raw, electric power of human potential into her crowbar. Voices, spirits, souls, wrenched from the Material and base and forming a blade of lightning around the metal. All of this stored energy can push the memories of people into her psyche, however.

When Kitty Lundstrum died, all of the energy absorbed over zir life, as well as zir volatile and rebellious nature was reborn as an electric conduit of human potential, Nikki Sparks...who'd later used this connection to tap into all death, and gained even more awareness and presence of others.

The anchoring, supernatural black hole parts of zir soul went...to other places.

This Artifact can be used as a club / improvised weapon. It is roughly the same size as a club / improvised weapon and just as difficult to conceal.Unless you Exert Your Mind or spend a point of Nimbus, which allows this weapon to work for 1d10 rounds and your Stop When I'm Dead power is active, this Artifact behaves as its mundane counterpart.

Attack by rolling Brawn + Melee, Difficulty 6. Successful attacks deal Contested Outcome +1 Weapon Damage.

Anyone who touches this Artifact will notice it warping their mind and may drop it. If they choose to hold or use it, they immediately receive the following Trauma: Whispers of Humankind: You must succeed on a Self-Control roll to avoid succumbing to the thousands of voices of the dead and in pain...losing control over yourself, repeating this roll at the end of each turn. If they lose possession of this Artifact, the Trauma heals over the course of the next day.

You also gain the following effects:

  • Any Injury inflicted is considered Unstabilized no matter its Severity. The roll required to Stabilize it is treated as though it is a minimum of Severity 6. These wounds do not heal naturally, though Effects may still be used to heal them.
  • Bane: Injuries dealt to magical beings are increased by 2 Severity levels.
  • Blade Breaker: If you successfully Defend against a melee attack or if an opponent is unsuccessful at Defending against your melee attack, you may break your opponent's weapon.
  • Lasersaber: Given time, you may demolish any object or wall. To destroy 1 cubic foot of material: spend 1 Action for material demolishable with a crowbar or sledgehammer, and 2 Actions for other materials (like steel).
  • Mjolnir: You may call your weapon back to your hand as a Quick Action if it is within 50 feet of you. Can only be used on melee weapon that you have wielded in the past hour.
  • Shredder: If you successfully hit your target, the value of any Armor they are wearing is reduced by 2. For material armor, this penalty lasts until it is repaired. For intrinsic armor, it lasts until the end of Combat and any relevant wound is healed.

  • Reminder: additional Weapon Damage granted by this Effect does not stack with any other bonus to Weapon Damage. Instead the largest bonus is used.

Nikki's crowbar has been used and abused and fixed to the point it acts as an extension of her body, dealing more damage than normal.

This Artifact has been upgraded.

This Artifact receives 2 extra dice to all actions taken for its intended use. Attacking with an upgraded weapon grants +2 Weapon Damage instead of additional dice. While it is upgraded, the item cannot be destroyed.

Upgraded weapons count as any material your opponent might be particularly vulnerable to. Upgraded Armor cannot be circumvented by called shots. Upgraded Devices do not run out of fuel or energy.

  • "Destroyed" in this context means "prevented from functioning for its primary purpose", so for instance, an upgraded land mine would still explode as normal if triggered, even though it cannot be "destroyed" and a car's windows may still be broken.
  • Reminder: additional Weapon Damage granted by this Effect does not stack with any other bonus to Weapon Damage. Instead the largest bonus is used. The same is true for extra dice.
  • Extra dice from this Effect do not apply to Gift activation rolls.

Mundane Knife

Created and held by Jake Daniels.
An abnormally mundane knife, it's too leveled and slick, too properly beveled, too sharp, too unchipped, always looks freshly store bought, always slick and shiny, always abnormally normal. It speaks to me sometimes, telling me to be alone and to not trust others. I listen.

The blade is unbelievably sharp, capable of slicing through many materials with unnatural ease. Even people.

This Artifact can be used as a knife. It is roughly the same size as a knife but can be collapsed into Mask and concealed. Collapsing or expanding it costs a Quick Action.

Attack by rolling (Dexterity or Brawn) + (Melee or Brawl), Difficulty 6. Successful attacks deal Contested Outcome +5 Weapon Damage.

  • If there is not enough free space to expand the object, it cannot be expanded. You cannot expand this Object as an attack.
  • Reminder: additional Weapon Damage granted by this Effect does not stack with any other bonus to Weapon Damage. Instead the largest bonus is used.

The mask wraps and warps around the user's face, changing their physical features and allowing them to turn into another physical shape.

You may roll Charisma + Crafts to attempt to make your disguise Beautiful. If your Outcome is 6 or higher, non-Effect Charisma rolls where your good looks could help are rolled at -2 Difficulty. If you fail or botch, you are ugly instead, and non-Effect Charisma rolls are made at +2 Difficulty.

After this Effect ends, you cannot move quicker than a walk (15 feet per Round) for one minute and suffer a -1 dice penalty for an hour.

Universal Remote v1

Created by Karn Fenrir, looted by Len.
A chrome cylinder with a single button and a microphone on it.

This artifact is a plain, handheld cylinder, has a microphone on the top of it, and a transmitter on the bottom. When held in the hand, and holding a button on the side, the unit will accept voice commands and transmit them to the desired target.

The onboard AI will explain the steps it's undertaking to carry out the command while it works, and occasionally ask for clarification. If the target is used on a computer the calling card manifests as a wolf head joker playing card displayed on the screen. If used on a device that's doesn't have a screen, instead a laser engraving will appear on the target of a wolf head joker card.

Exert your Mind and spend 1 minute. Select a Device within 20 feet. Does not work on Alien technology. Roll Intellect + Technology, with the Difficulty set by the GM depending on the security of the system you are hacking. Sapient targets can resist by rolling Mind at Difficulty 6.

If you succeed, you may issue a single command to the targeted system. This command must have a specific outcome or be a request for specific login credentials. The command you issue must be within the machine's current capabilities. For example, you cannot order a standard security camera to grow legs and walk around.

When targeting non-computer devices, you may operate switches, buttons, dials, levers, and latches.

Every hack you make leaves behind a wolf head joker playing card. in the system as a personal "calling card" that informs anyone who uses the system that the hack occurred.

  • You can target yourself if you qualify as a valid target by the other requirements.
  • Your target must be within line of sight, or within range of another sense if more fitting for the Gift's flavor.

Spend an Action. Select a Living target within 50 feet. Roll Charisma + Performance Difficulty 6. The target may contest by rolling to Dodge or Defend as a Reaction, Difficulty 6.

If the Contested Outcome is positive, the target takes that much Damage plus 4. Armor is fully effective against this Damage.

You may choose to have this Effect Damage all targets in a perfectly straight line up to its maximum range.

If you successfully hit your target, the value of any Armor they are wearing is reduced by 2. For material armor, this penalty lasts until it is repaired. For intrinsic armor, it lasts until the end of Combat and any relevant wound is healed.

This Gift cannot have more than 3 Drawbacks, and its Gift Cost is capped at 1.

  • You can target yourself if you qualify as a valid target by the other requirements.
  • Your target must be within line of Effect. There must be no substantial obstructions between you and your target.

A beautiful low-pitched G String piece of classical music is played with The Golden Fiddle (the piece being played is Air on G String by Johann Sebastian Bach). This produces a giant transparent-ish shield, with a clef insignia in the middle, to form from the fiddle.

Exert your Mind and spend an Action or Reaction. Roll Charisma + Performance at Difficulty 6.

If you succeed, you create a Barrier extending out 15 feet from yourself, which absorbs 2 times the next Outcome + 2 Damage. Only applies to attacks which originated outside the 15 foot radius, and protects anyone who is within that radius. You may choose to create a bubble barrier. If you do, no physical objects or entities can pass into your bubble until the barrier is broken, but you and the barrier cannot move. Any Damage absorbed by the barrier is reflected back to the attacker, up to a maximum of the Barrier Strength Parameter’s bonus. Their Armor applies in full. The Damage reduction from the barrier is applied before Armor. This Artifact may only have 1 active barrier at a time.

You must maintain Concentration while using this Effect. The barrier will fall if you are interrupted, or if it absorbs the full amount of Damage. When a barrier falls, you cannot use this Effect again for a minimum of 2 Rounds.

  • If you use this Effect as a Reaction to dodge, you still need to make a roll to dodge. The Effect will occur regardless of the Outcome of this roll, but if you fail you will be hit by the relevant attack prior to the Effect occurring.
