Legendary Artifact

Life's Locket

Created and held by Wes Dorian.
A silver chain for wearing around one's neck meets at a quarter-sized intricately carved silver heart locket. Inside is an image of a person, place, or thing the user loves most.

The locket is plain and simple. It does not catch the eye, nor does it exude power on its own. When worn, however, it grants the first step towards eternity. As it sits around one's neck, and only their neck, opening it will reveal what the wearer loves most. Life and love fits in the palm of your hand.

Tapping into one's psyche is something that requires a lifetime of self-care and intrinsic reflection. When you look deep within yourself - at what drives you to strive for your goals - you can push aside pain, and fear, and the weight of the world. Suddenly, your goals become clearer. Your mind no longer needs to stop. Your lungs no longer need to contract, and your stomach never needs to consume. You are more than just your physical body. You are a bundle of nerves and dreams and nightmares that drive a fleshy suit. Life's Locket only asks that you let it handle the burdens of the body, so you can focus on what matters most.

You gain the following benefits as long as you are wearing this Artifact.

You no longer require any food, water, sleep, or air in order to survive. You no longer age naturally, and supernatural attempts to age you fail.

You may spend one minute entering a state of hibernation, during which you are inanimate and unaffected by any requirements for life. You may still perceive the outside world and may spend 3 Rounds ‘waking up’ to end it.

New Friends Freindship Bracelet

Created by Kevin Sparkles, given to David Silvana.
Classic freindship Bracelet with Kevins name and hearts and Sword Charm attached

Kevins Friends call to him and ask him for his support. He steps from a portal behind them and lifts them up on his back and they ride him as he gallops forward bringing his friends to safety.

Exert your Mind (unless you win a coin flip) and spend at least two Actions performing the following ritual: They grip the braclet and shout "Kevin Help me." to activate. This Effect cannot be used unless This power can only to flee from danger. You must maintain Concentration while activating this Effect, and it fails if you are interrupted.

You can run at four times your normal movement speed for the next minute.

While running, you may climb, jump, and roll without breaking stride, but you are at 1/2 speed while doing so.

If you move faster than your normal move speed, the world around you turns to a blur, and Perception rolls are made at -3 dice.

Possession of this Artifact causes the following Trauma to manifest over the course of a day: Inability to harm someone wearing one of Kevins Friendship Bracelets. If you lose possession of this Artifact, the Trauma heals over the course of the next month.

  • Any Encumbrance penalty to your movement still applies, but you do not suffer from any sort of exhaustion.
  • Damage from a collision depends on your speed at the time, as well as what you hit. GM's discretion, but generally moving faster than a car on the freeway and hitting a dense, solid object like a wall or a tree should be lethal. Mundane armor will not apply, but any supernatural forms of protection will.

Kevin has begun crafting protection into his friends bracelets. The weilder of these bracelets now carry their own sword of equestria allowing them to slay evil and protect friendship wherever they are.

This Artifact can be used as a Sword/Axe. It is roughly the same size as a Sword/Axe but can be collapsed into Friendship Bracelet Sword Charm the size of a lighter and concealed. Collapsing or expanding it costs a Free Action.

Attack by rolling Brawn + Melee, Difficulty 6. Successful attacks deal 1 Weapon Damage +1 Bonus Damage. The target's Armor is fully effective against this damage.

Knife of golden mist

Created and held by Bu Fang.
A knife with clouds inscribed on the blade and a golden hue to it.

A knife that's been attuned to Bu Fang restaurants spatial coordinates. Crafted with meteorite shards giving them affinity with the element of space. Allowing one to cut through space and go to where it is attuned to.
(Each knife are shackled to a restaurant. Which one is clarified in name.)

Exert your Mind and spend 2 Actions to activate. If you are at Bu Fang Restaurant's, you may choose a target Location within your line of sight; otherwise, your target may only be Bu Fang Restaurant's.

You are transported directly to the chosen Location. You must wait an hour before activating this effect again.

After you finish activating this Effect, you cannot move quicker than a walk (max 15 feet per Round) for one minute and suffer a -1 dice penalty for an hour. Exhaustion’s penalty and duration stacks with multiple activations.

  • Exhaustion penalties and duration stack. If you activate this Effect or another Effect with Exhaustion, your penalty will worsen, and the duration is increased by one hour.
  • You can target yourself if you qualify as a valid target by the other requirements.
  • Your target must be within line of sight, or within range of another sense if more fitting for the Gift's flavor.

Shadequiver, Bane Of Mooks

Created and held by Adrannis.
A jet-black compound bow with crimson accents.

Loosing a translucent arrow of inky blackness from your technical marvel of a weapon, you resist the urge to smile as you hit your mark dead-on. And dead really is the operating word, as your former obstacle crumples soundlessly to the floor. The satisfaction of a job well done almost overrides the stinging marks on your face. The shadows need more from you than just competence.

[Disfiguring]: Possession of this artefact causes the wielder to manifest inky-purplish-black pockmarks across their face. While summoning the arrows for this bow, the marks will sting ever so slightly, as the user's skin decays to fuel the weapon. It is slight enough to be barely noticed, even over long periods of time, but this bow does indeed use the archer as its ammunition.

This Artifact can be used as a bow. It is roughly the same size as a bow but can be collapsed into a keychain sports motorcycle and concealed. Collapsing or expanding it costs a Quick Action.

Attack by rolling Dexterity + Athletics, Difficulty 6. Successful attacks deal Contested Outcome +1 Weapon Damage. Attacks do not require a successful called shot to do damage.

Possession of this Artifact causes the following Battle Scar to manifest over the course of a day: Disfigured - Shadow Decay. If they lose possession of this Artifact, the Battle Scar heals over the course of the next day.

You also gain the following effects:

  • Infinite Ammo: This weapon never runs out of its standard ammunition.
  • Leave No Trace: Your projectiles crumble or vanish after impact, leaving no meaningful trace of your assault beyond the wounds they leave. If your attack would kill or incapacitate your target, they make no sound, even incidentally, for the next Round.

  • If there is not enough free space to expand the object, it cannot be expanded. You cannot expand this Object as an attack.
  • Reminder: additional Weapon Damage granted by this Effect does not stack with any other bonus to Weapon Damage. Instead the largest bonus is used.

Sucats other helping hand

Created by Terra Abaddon, given to Iryna Vorobyova.
Silver pendant given to Sucat Wrapped around a shillelegh
Crafted by Patrick Oneal

a user, perhaps inspired by the lore of the leprechaun, holds a shillelagh, a traditional Irish wooden walking stick. With a sense of wonder and anticipation, they mimic the actions of the mythical leprechaun and tap the shillelagh on the ground. The moment the stick contacts the surface, something extraordinary happens.

The ground beneath their feet begins to shimmer and swirl, opening up to reveal a glowing portal. It’s as if the tap of the shillelagh has unlocked a hidden, mystical doorway. The user, filled with a mix of excitement and a hint of apprehension, finds themselves suddenly dropping through this portal.

As they fall, the world around them transforms. Colors and lights blend in a kaleidoscope of hues, creating an ethereal tunnel around them. The sensation is otherworldly, as if they’re traveling through a conduit of magic and ancient energy.

Suddenly, the journey comes to an end as they emerge from a hole in the ground in a completely different environment.

Exert your Mind and spend 15 minutes. Select a Location within your line of sight.

You are transported directly to the chosen Location. Anyone who is touching you as you Travel will be brought along with you. You must wait an hour before activating this effect again.

If you traverse any Hills and Mounds for one minute, you may activate this Effect and travel to the edge of any other Hills and Mounds that you’re aware of, regardless of range.

  • You can target yourself if you qualify as a valid target by the other requirements.
  • Your target must be within line of sight, or within range of another sense if more fitting for the Gift's flavor.
Crafted by Terra Abaddon

Julian Vasquez lays on the black top, spit on his forehead as Jason and Jessica walk away laughing. The need for justice fills his heart and he looks down at his Amulet, Paranoias amulet. he grabs it and red light glimmers through his hands. He calls out for Paranoia and his calls are returned. A demonic figure blood across his body bursts from the floor grabbing Jessica by the throat and using its twisted claws to shape Jessica's face into that of a pigs. Julian smiles, justice is served.

Exert your Mind and Spend an Action to activate. Select a Living target within arm's reach. Roll a single d10, Difficulty 4. If you fail or botch, the Effect fails and you cannot activate it again for an hour. Roll Charisma + Influence at Difficulty 6. The target may roll Body, Difficulty 7, as a Free Action to resist.

If you succeed, the target receives a new Battle Scar of your choosing, limited by the contested Outcome:

  1. A Minor Battle Scar E.g. an aesthetic-only body modification (a disfigured face, a pig's tail), impacted hand or foot, or vocal changes that complicate communication
  2. A Major Battle Scar E.g. a disabled/removed hand or foot, an inability to speak, an impacted major sense, removal of a minor sense, impacted movement.
  3. A Severe Battle Scar E.g. a disabled/removed arm or leg, deafness, aesthetic changes that are nearly impossible to conceal.
  4. An Extreme Battle Scar E.g. removal/disabling both hands or both legs, blindness, a full-body deformation that leaves the target humanoid but makes it difficult to use clothes, vehicles, and equipment designed for humans.
Refer to the stock Battle Scars on the Character Sheet for specific systems.

  • If this Effect fails due to the Unreliable check, you must still pay any associated activation costs.
  • You may opt to inflict a Battle Scar that is less severe than what your Outcome allows.
  • Remember: A Contractor’s Body rating is reduced by 1 for each Battle Scar after their fourth.
  • You can target yourself if you qualify as a valid target by the other requirements.

Jury Rigged Injector

Created and held by Alice Abernathy.
This appears to be an epinephrine auto-injector, or at least it was. It's been modified, its contents replaced. The needle is questionably clean. A small white label is applied to it, and in sharpie, is written 'ALICE ABERNATHY.' In smaller text under it, barely legible, is 'BATCH 27, REV A9, RGE-S'

The injector plunges in. Rapid onset fever, elevated heart-rate, some hyperventilation. It settles, typically. The retrovirus isn't perfect. But for the moment, it's good enough. The outcome is striking. Skin or fur blotches, growing patterns that settle into something resembling the background. A formless shape. With an act of will, it can change. Thickened padding, making one silent, or modified sweat glands, eliminating your scent.

It doesn't last forever - not this revision, at least. The body doesn't like it, fights it. Takes it about a half hour to win, on average. But for that time, you're pretty hard to spot.

Exert your Mind and spend one minute.

You and everything you are carrying is obscured in one of the following manners. Lasts 30 minutes.

  • Hearing: You are completely obscured from hearing. You produce no sounds while this Effect is active. All attempts to detect you via hearing fail. Attempts via other senses where hearing would assist are rolled at -2 dice.
  • Sight:You are partially obscured from being noticed by sight. All attempts to detect you using sight are rolled at a -3 dice penalty, and all attempts to detect you where sight would assist are rolled at -1 penalty. Anyone who detects you cannot determine any visual details about you beyond your general shape.
  • Smell and taste: You are completely obscured from smell and taste. You do not leave scent trails while this Effect is active. All attempts to detect you via smell or taste fail. Attempts via other senses where smell or taste would assist are rolled at -2 dice.

While this Effect is active, any Effect that would obscure you or your equipment specifically from other, additional senses fails automatically.

If someone discovers you, this Effect will not help you hide from them for the next minute. Activating a targeted or obvious Effect, attacking, or being Injured ends the Effect. When the Effect ends, it is disabled for one minute.

This Gift does not affect your clothes or equipment.

  • GMs should use their discretion when determining the exact impacts of this Effect, particularly in conjunction with environmental factors. Standing still against a complex background may render you impossible to detect, and footprints in snow may make it easy. A chance to detect you is not guaranteed.

Stock Legendary Artifacts

The Coffin

"The Coffin" is a black, alligator-skin briefcase made to look like its namesake. The interior is coated in red, quilted leather. It is quite a bit larger on the inside, appearing to stretch backwards like a dark passageway.

This Artifact holds 5 times what it normally could inside of it. Objects stored inside are weightless. Unless you are storing something commonly found in coffins, this Artifact behaves as its mundane counterpart. This Effect cannot be used unless you are storing something commonly found in coffins.

Living things can be stored in this Artifact. They will have access to anything else inside and may attempt to break free, damaging or destroying the Artifact in the process.

If this Artifact is destroyed, things inside may get out, and it will cease to function until it is repaired.

When scanned or investigated without opening, the contents of this container appear normal and unremarkable.

On a Downtime, you may change this Artifact from one type of container to another. Maximum once per Downtime.

If anyone other than you opens the container, it appears empty. Others can still destroy it to get at the contents.

  • You cannot change the container's type if you are not in possession of it.
  • A container of holding cannot be placed inside another created by the same Gift.
  • There is no cost to use this container.

Expend a point of Battery and spend an Action.

You automatically detect all people wielding weapons within 300 feet of you for the next hour. This includes any who come within range during the duration. You have a sense of how many valid targets are nearby, as well as their distance and direction.

  • This Effect does not satisfy the line of sight targeting requirement for other Effects.

The Airship of Solitude

The airship of solitude is an imposing black blimp. While flying through the air, it is regularly struck by lightning, terrifying those below.

This Artifact can be used as a blimp. It is roughly the same size as a blimp but can be collapsed into a phone-sized canvas cube and concealed. Collapsing or expanding it costs a Quick Action.

This blimp has full science laboratory, bullet-proof envelope, and ample parachutes. Any roll to pilot this vehicle receives +2 dice.

You also gain the following effects:

  • Crew of One: You alone may stand in for an entire crew if the vehicle would normally be piloted by more than one.
  • Mind of its Own: This vehicle can move and take Actions without you driving it. It has seven dice for all Drive rolls.
  • No Muffler: Any stealth rolls made to hide your vehicle automatically fail, and any rolls made to notice your vehicle automatically succeed.

  • If there is not enough free space to expand the object, it cannot be expanded. You cannot expand this Object as an attack.

You gain the following benefits as long as you are wearing this Artifact.

You have 6 Armor, which reduces incoming Damage. Armor from multiple sources does not stack.

Your Armor cannot be destroyed, and it always provides a minimum of 2 Armor regardless of any Armor shredding or penetration. It cannot be circumvented with Called Shots. When shredded, it returns to full potency in one hour.

Any time your Armor prevents Damage, your Armor rating is temporarily decreased by 2. Whenever it goes five Rounds without preventing any Damage, it is restored back to its full value.

  • Armor recharging happens automatically and does not require an Action.
  • This Effect’s Armor rating cannot be increased by any other Effects.

Exert your Mind and spend an Action. Select a Location within within arm's reach. All Sapient targets within 20 feet are affected. This Effect cannot be used unless the target is looking directly into the device with uncovered eyes. Roll Charisma + Influence at Difficulty 6. The target may resist by rolling Mind at Difficulty 7.

If the contested Outcome is positive, the most recent 1 hour from your target’s memory is either replaced with new memories or forgotten entirely. This is recorded as a Condition. The level of detail and completeness of the alteration depends on your Outcome. If you fail, the target realizes that you are attempting to alter their memories.

The period is chosen either by time (i.e. “last Friday night”) or by reference to a specific event (i.e. “when the murder occurred”).

  • You do not gain mind-reading through this effect, so your ability to alter their memory is limited by your knowledge of what they might know.
  • The target's roll to realize their memories have been altered can be made a maximum of one time per day.
  • You can target yourself if you qualify as a valid target by the other requirements.
  • Your target must be within line of sight, or within range of another sense if more fitting for the Gift's flavor.
