Legendary Artifact

E.G.O EQUIPMENT

Created and held by Mormon Icasas.

To know means to understand. We successfully extracted the archetype and materialized it, and the observer reshaped it into a weapon.
This is why we highly regarded the act of observation.

The eye sockets of the hollow skull stare into sins, and the crown of thorns casts blame. Those who are willing to spill blood for the greater good will be readily given approval for its use.

This Artifact can be used as a club / improvised weapon. It is roughly the same size as a club / improvised weapon and just as difficult to conceal.

Attack by rolling Brawn + Melee, Difficulty 6. Successful attacks deal Contested Outcome +3 Weapon Damage.

You also gain the following effects:

  • Bane: Injuries dealt to WHITE WEAK ABNORMALITIES are increased by 2 Severity levels.

  • Reminder: additional Weapon Damage granted by this Effect does not stack with any other bonus to Weapon Damage. Instead the largest bonus is used.

"The people you love will remember you as yet another victim that lost their head. This is still a battlefield."

You gain the following benefits as long as you are wearing this Artifact.

You have 4, which reduces incoming damage from all sources of physical attack except PALE DAMAGE. Armor from multiple sources does not stack.

Your Armor cannot be destroyed, and it always provides a minimum of 2 Armor regardless of any Armor shredding or penetration. It cannot be circumvented with Called Shots. When shredded, it returns to full potency in one hour.

  • This Effect’s Armor rating cannot be increased by any other Effects.

"I... didn't want to remember the people I loved anymore..."

This Artifact can be used as a shotgun. It is roughly the same size as a shotgun and just as difficult to conceal.

Attack by rolling Dexterity + Firearms, Difficulty 6. Successful attacks deal Contested Outcome +10 Weapon Damage.

You also gain the following effects:

  • Bane: Injuries dealt to RED DAMAGE ABNORMALITIES are increased by 2 Severity levels.
  • Infinite Ammo: This weapon never runs out of its standard ammunition.

  • Reminder: additional Weapon Damage granted by this Effect does not stack with any other bonus to Weapon Damage. Instead the largest bonus is used.
  • Rifles are +1 Difficulty to use in melee range. Sniper Rifles are +3 Difficulty to use without a tripod or in melee range. Setting up a tripod takes an Action.

"Further experiments were canceled. Scientific ethics decree that all footage of those who participated in the experiment is to be kept sealed. However, the incident left us no choice but to review the footage of the Containment Unit."

Exert your Mind and spend 1 Action. This Effect cannot be used unless Penitence weapon is equipped.

You may cure any Non-Alien diseases, toxins, or poisons afflicting yourself so long as you have fully diagnosed or understood it. You may cure diseases or poisons even if they are not treatable through modern medicine. During treatment, the malady you are treating does not progress or cause additional Damage or other effects.

You may use this effect to sanitize a 15-foot radius, destroying all poisons, toxins, diseases such that they are inert and cannot affect any new targets

You may only use this Effect once per day.

  • Without some sort of diagnostic Effect, “fully diagnosing” a disease or poison will always require a roll of some sort, frequently Intellect + Medicine, but the specific roll and difficulty is at GM’s discretion.

placeholder

This Effect activates whenever Targeted for more than 2 rounds.. It does not require an Action or Exertion. Your target should be intuitively based on the triggering event.

You transform into Gazed for 3 Rounds. You have access to all of your Powers while you are Gazed, and you can use your equipment. Your Battle Scars, Injuries, and physical Liabilities are carried over between forms. Reverting from your Alternate Form cannot cause your existing Injuries to kill you. Instead, you remain Incapacitated.

While transformed, your Brawn is increased by 3. Your Stress is reduced by 2.

Your alternate form is its own deadly weapon. Unarmed attacks made in your alternate form deal +3 Weapon Damage (instead of the typical -1).

If you take Injuries totaling 4 Severity or higher while transformed, you recover all Injuries and change into Face disfigures into a lock with an eye on it, much like the abnormality.. All dice rolls are at -1 Difficulty for the next minute or until this Effect ends. Cooldown 1 day.

Your alternate form renders you unable to speak any human language and incapable of fine object manipulation. You can only hold or grasp objects in a crude, clumsy way.

Whenever you enter Combat, roll Self-Control. If you fail, you cannot choose which targets to attack and cannot stop fighting until there are no targets remaining.

  • Reminder: Weapon Damage from multiple sources does not stack. Instead, the highest value is used.
  • When triggered, the Effect activation resolves immediately after the triggering Action. It is not Reaction speed.
  • Attribute bonuses from multiple sources do not stack. Instead the highest bonus is used.

SPEND 3 PHYSICAL SEVERITY TO ACTIVATE THIS EFFECT; DOES FULL DAMAGE TO ALLIES IN THE BLAST ZONE.

"A single bullet ain't enough… Until echoes of gunshots and plumes of smoke bury all that I've ever remembered…!"

Increase your sacrificial Injury's Severity by 1 and spend an Action. Select a Location within 150 feet. This Effect cannot be used unless FELL BULLET EGO IS FULLY WORN & AGENT OF DISCIPLINARY. You must make a Trauma roll when you use this Effect. Its Difficulty cannot be reduced by any means. If you fail or Botch, you receive one Mind Damage and a new Trauma. The area within 50 feet of the chosen Location immediately and obviously becomes imminently dangerous. Roll Dexterity + Firearms at Difficulty 6. Targets inside the radius may attempt an appropriate Reaction at GM’s discretion. Finding a physical barrier to use as cover will cut total Damage taken in half (applies after Reaction roll but before Armor).

If the Outcome is positive, your blast hits everything within 50 feet of the chosen Location with Damage equal to your Outcome + 10.

If you successfully hit your target, the value of any Armor they are wearing is reduced by 2. For material armor, this penalty lasts until it is repaired. For intrinsic armor, it lasts until the end of Combat and any relevant wound is healed.

If you do not have a sacrificial Injury when you activate this Effect, take a new Severity-1 Injury.

  • The sacrificial Injury received from activating this Effect cannot be prevented by any means or healed before 1 day has passed. It is shared with all Effects that use sacrifice. This Injury does not requires Stabilization or cause Battle Scars when it becomes Severe.
  • You can target yourself if you qualify as a valid target by the other requirements.
  • Your target must be within line of sight, or within range of another sense if more fitting for the Gift's flavor.

"The gaze from the keyhole is fixed on its target without ever stopping. No one knows what it wanted to peep at so dearly. As long as this is equipped, ambush won't be a concern."

This Artifact can be used as a great sword / giant axe. It is roughly the same size as a great sword / giant axe and just as difficult to conceal.

Attack by rolling Brawn + Melee, Difficulty 6. Successful attacks deal Contested Outcome +5 Weapon Damage.

You also gain the following effects:

  • Any Injury inflicted is considered Unstabilized no matter its Severity. The roll required to Stabilize it is treated as though it is a minimum of Severity 6. These wounds do not heal naturally, though Effects may still be used to heal them.
  • Bane: Injuries dealt to RED WEAK ABNORMALITIES are increased by 2 Severity levels.

  • Reminder: additional Weapon Damage granted by this Effect does not stack with any other bonus to Weapon Damage. Instead the largest bonus is used.

Spear of the Wild Hunt

Created by Colvin Whistler, looted by Enteln keller.
A spear with an obsidian spear tip that draws in the light around it, its iron shaft is engraved with scenes of the legend of the Wild Hunt, oft lead by different figures (Wodan, Siegfried, Gwyn ap Nudd, etc.)

Colvin takes off his necklace, and its chains seem to melt around his hand, the metal reforming and expanding into a spear. Engraved along the spear’s length are figures of legend (Siegfried, Odin, even King Arthur) hunting things down across a black expanse of sky. As he thrusts with the spear, the obsidian tip of the spear pierces through the shaft of his opponent’s weapon, breaking it into pieces that are strangely sucked, like the light around it, into the inky darkness of the spearhead.

This, spear, engraved with scenes of the Wild Hunt, was initially the channel for the powers of a former damned spirit of the hunt, captured and enchained. That being had seen many leaders of the hunt come and go through its “lifetime”. With its taking from that being’s prison, the Spear lost most of its power. It seems to be reclaiming some of its history, however, in consuming the remains of Fae beings (the Fae are intimately intertwined with the history of the hunt, after all.).

One last note: This gift used a trophy from a Contract as the object for the artifact, and that spear trophy had the quirk of being unbreakable. It is completely up to individual GM’s whether they choose to uphold this quirk or ignore it.

This Artifact can be used as a thrusting sword. It is roughly the same size as a thrusting sword but can be collapsed into An iron thin chain necklace which has an engraved steel pendant of a hunting hound, wreathed in flames, on the end of it. and concealed. Collapsing or expanding it costs a Quick Action.

Attack by rolling Dexterity + Melee, Difficulty 6. Successful attacks deal Contested Outcome +5 Weapon Damage. The target's Armor is fully effective against this damage.

You also gain the following effects:

  • Bane: Injuries dealt to Fae/Fairies, and their blooded descendants are increased by 2 Severity levels.
  • Blade Breaker: If you successfully Defend against a melee attack or if an opponent is unsuccessful at Defending against your melee attack, you may break your opponent's weapon.

  • If there is not enough free space to expand the object, it cannot be expanded. You cannot expand this Object as an attack.
  • Reminder: additional Weapon Damage granted by this Effect does not stack with any other bonus to Weapon Damage. Instead the largest bonus is used.

Warp Band

Created and held by Kee.
A chunk of meteorite forged into a arm band that rests near the shoulder, there is Kee's logo engraved into it.

The artifact glows brightly as the user accelerates to near light speeds, shooting off.
Anything this is crafted onto has Kee's logo stamped/engraved into it.

Exert your Mind and spend 2 Actions. Select a Location within your line of sight.

You are transported directly to the chosen Location. You must wait an hour before activating this effect again.

If you traverse any Radius around Interstellar beacons for one minute, you may activate this Effect and travel to the edge of any other Radius around Interstellar beacons that you’re aware of, regardless of range.

When you Travel, you leave a beam of hyper drive light as a distinct trail between your starting and end points.

After you finish activating this Effect, you cannot move quicker than a walk (max 15 feet per Round) for one minute and suffer a -1 dice penalty for an hour. Exhaustion’s penalty and duration stacks with multiple activations.

You may only use this Effect once per day.

  • Exhaustion penalties and duration stack. If you activate this Effect or another Effect with Exhaustion, your penalty will worsen, and the duration is increased by one hour.
  • You can target yourself if you qualify as a valid target by the other requirements.
  • Your target must be within line of sight, or within range of another sense if more fitting for the Gift's flavor.

harpoon gun

Created and held by Reed.
it is a harpoon gun

it appears to be a standard harpoon gun, but much to large, when fired a new harpoon appears within the gun

This Artifact can be used as a crossbow. It is roughly at least twice as large as a crossbow and cannot be concealed on your person or disassembled for storage.

Attack by rolling Dexterity + Firearms, Difficulty 6. Successful attacks deal Contested Outcome +4 Weapon Damage. Attacks do not require a successful called shot to do damage.

You also gain the following effects:

  • Infinite Ammo: This weapon never runs out of its standard ammunition.
  • Pin Down: If your attack hits a target near a wall or a floor, the projectile pierces through them, pinning them to the wall or floor. Unpinning oneself quickly will increase the relevant Injury’s Severity by 1.

  • This Artifact cannot be disguised or morphed with other Effects like Shape-Changing object.
  • Reminder: additional Weapon Damage granted by this Effect does not stack with any other bonus to Weapon Damage. Instead the largest bonus is used.

Ring of Proimse

Created and held by Jack Sput.
A small sliver band. It throbs with a barely noticeable blue glow when in use. It has a 3 point Battery that must be used to fuel it's powers.

After his first contract Jack found himself with a terrible battle scar. After being unable to find others to help him, he took matters into his own hands. He got himself a ring, The Ring of Promise, to heal his major battle scar and any other battle scars in the future.

Expend a point of Battery and spend an hour. Select a Living or Animate target within arm's reach. Select a Battle Scar on your target to treat.

The treated Battle Scar heals as you finish activating this Effect.

  • You can target yourself if you qualify as a valid target by the other requirements.
  • Your target must be within line of sight, or within range of another sense if more fitting for the Gift's flavor.

Tool Belt

Created and held by Liam Anderson.
A black belt with a circular belt buckle.

A normal suit belt that looks like your average belt with a round belt buckle. It doesn’t stand out too much, other than being a belt with a unique design.

This belt contains 3 small wards. One of these wards can be activated inside the belt, and the other three can be spread out. This allows Liam to communicate with others, but also be alerted to beings entering his perimeter as well as his comrades if he chooses to give them his wards.

Exert your Mind and spend an Action. Select a Location within 10 feet.

You place a ward,. You can see through the ward as though you were standing at its location. This Artifact may have at most 3 wards active at once.

The ward requires Concentration to monitor, though it will remain active until you deactivate it. The ward can be discovered if someone knows what they are looking for, but is otherwise inconspicuous and cannot be identified as a ward.

Whenever something crosses into the observational range of the Ward, you and those you've allowed to tune in are alerted by Synapse alert (nervous system registers direction).

You may communicate through your ward, though doing so will reveal its presence.

  • Your ward cannot be used to satisfy the line of sight requirement for targeted Effects.
  • You can target yourself if you qualify as a valid target by the other requirements.
  • Your target must be within line of sight, or within range of another sense if more fitting for the Gift's flavor.

Stock Legendary Artifacts

You gain the following benefits as long as you are wearing this Artifact.

You have 6 Armor, which reduces incoming Damage. Armor from multiple sources does not stack.

Your Armor cannot be destroyed, and it always provides a minimum of 2 Armor regardless of any Armor penetration. It cannot be circumvented with Called Shots.

Any time your Armor prevents damage, your total Armor rating is temporarily decreased by 1. Whenever you go two Rounds without preventing any damage, it is restored back to its full value.

  • Armor recharging happens automatically and does not require an Action.

This Artifact can change its appearance. When not transformed, it is roughly the same size as a passport and just as difficult to conceal.

Whenever you show this Artifact to someone, you may give a general description of an Object within the category of forms of identification, and anyone who hears the description and sees the Artifact will have their mind fill in the details to complete the illusion.

The way the Artifact is seen can mimic specific items (such as a particular painting, a certain person’s ID, etc), but must be of a similar size and weight to this Artifact.

The new appearance is illusory; it will hold up to scrutiny, but its composition is not altered and it gains no new functionality. Any attempt to use it for a function which it cannot perform (for instance, making bread look like a knife and then trying to stab someone) will cause the illusion to fail or allow a Perception check to see through the illusion, at the GM's discretion.

Exert your Mind and spend an Action. Select a Location within within arm's reach. All Sapient targets within 20 feet are affected. This Effect cannot be used unless the target is looking directly into the device with uncovered eyes. Roll Charisma + Influence at Difficulty 6. The target may resist by rolling Mind at Difficulty 7.

If the contested Outcome is positive, the most recent 1 hour from your target’s memory is either replaced with new memories or forgotten entirely. This is recorded as a Condition. The level of detail and completeness of the alteration depends on your Outcome. If you fail, the target realizes that you are attempting to alter their memories.

The period is chosen either by time (i.e. “last Friday night”) or by reference to a specific event (i.e. “when the murder occurred”).

  • You do not gain mind-reading through this effect, so your ability to alter their memory is limited by your knowledge of what they might know.
  • The target's roll to realize their memories have been altered can be made a maximum of one time per day.
  • You can target yourself if you qualify as a valid target by the other requirements.
  • Your target must be within line of sight, or within range of another sense if more fitting for the Gift's flavor.

The Bug-out Bag

No hiker would bat an eye if they saw someone wearing this 80 liter backpacking pack in the backcountry. Those who look closer find it's made of a curious mix of modern materials and what appears to be rawhide stitching.

This Artifact can be used as a container. It is roughly the same size as a 80 liter backpacking pack and just as difficult to conceal.

Your 80 liter backpacking pack holds 5 times what it normally could. Objects stored inside are weightless.

Living things can be stored in your 80 liter backpacking pack. They will have access to anything else inside and may attempt to break free, damaging or destroying the 80 liter backpacking pack in the process.

If your 80 liter backpacking pack is destroyed, things inside may get out, and it will cease to function until it is repaired.

Only you may open and close the container. Others can still destroy it to get at the contents

  • There is no cost to use your container.

This Artifact cannot be broken.

This Artifact's creator is always aware of the direction and distance to this Artifact.

  • "Cannot be broken" means that damage cannot render the Artifact's Effects unusable, nor can it cease to be used for its primary mundane purpose, if it has one.

This Artifact can change its appearance. When not transformed, it is roughly the same size as a passport and just as difficult to conceal.

Exert your Mind and spend an Action to activate. This Artifact changes its appearance into an Object within the category of forms of identification. This lasts until you decide to end the Effect, which may be done as a Free Action.

The new object's appearance can mimic specific items (such as a particular painting, a certain person’s ID, etc), but must be of a similar size and weight to this Artifact.
