Legendary Artifact

Nail-Studded Jacket

Created and held by Vito Losvegos.
The Mona Lisa of Elvis memorabilia, or at least that's what Vito would tell you. A powder blue jacket supposedly worn by The King himself. Only, the nails he worn didn't have long spikes facing outwards, right?

The baseball bat slammed into Vito's stomach with little fanfare, striking with the sound of slamming into a steel wall rather than the splintering of bone. A sinister smile crawled across the Elvis impersonator's lips, rather than the usual expected cries of agony.

At once, a torrent of sharp nails burst forth from the jacket that he wore, impaling the attacker with dozens of missiles.

Expend a point of Battery and spend an Action or Reaction. Roll Perception + Alertness at Difficulty 6.

If you succeed, you create a barrier around yourself, which absorbs the next Outcome + 4 Damage. Any Damage absorbed by the barrier is reflected back to the attacker, up to a maximum of the Barrier Strength Parameter’s bonus. Their Armor applies in full. The Damage reduction from the barrier is applied before Armor. This Artifact may only have 1 active barrier at a time.

You must maintain Concentration while using this Effect. The barrier will fall if you are interrupted, or if it absorbs the full amount of Damage. When a barrier falls, you cannot use this Effect again for a minimum of 2 Rounds.

  • If you use this Effect as a Reaction to dodge, you still need to make a roll to dodge. The Effect will occur regardless of the Outcome of this roll, but if you fail you will be hit by the relevant attack prior to the Effect occurring.

An ancient Aztec style gold coin, one side showing a skull and crossbones, the other inscribed with the words: "Cast into the sea"

A frigate style ship, fitted for war. The hull is painted black and seemingly scorched by eternal flames, it has 2 masts, and three flaming sails, painted with a red dragon. It is fitted out with 4 cannons and enough supplies for battle. The wheel and capstan are scorched black with a brand of flame on them. To finish off the looks it is adorned by a golden skeleton figurehead, with eyes of flame and holding a spear.

When you cast the coin into the sea it will sink, but soon from the depths will rise the ship in all its glory. When it rises it is fitted with a crew of skeletons to help him sail it. (Crew of One flavoring, no actual benefits from this)

What's in my pocket? Arthur found himself asking this question when he woke up one day. Upon reaching into his pocket he found a gold coin, one side showing a skull and crossbones, the other inscribed with the words: "Cast into the sea." Hesitantly he followed the instructions. When he cast it into the sea nothing happened at first. Disappointed he was about to head back when he heard a sound echo from the sea. From the sound arose a might ship, in all its glory the Blackwyche lunged out of the sea, fitted with canons and a crew of skeletons ready to sail.

This Artifact can be used as a Frigate. It is roughly the same size as a Frigate but can be collapsed into Gold Coin and concealed. Collapsing or expanding it costs a Quick Action.

This Frigate has 4 cannons, 60 cannonballs, 15 chain shot, 15 grapeshot, 5 kegs of grog, 5 gunpowder kegs, 50ft of rope, and standard living accommodations as well as barrels for storage. Any roll to pilot this vehicle receives +2 dice.

You also gain the following effects:

  • Crew of One: You alone may stand in for an entire crew if the vehicle would normally be piloted by more than one.
  • Steady As She Goes: The motion of your vehicle never causes your passengers dice penalties, and you do not suffer dice penalties from the unsteadiness of any vehicle you are riding in.
  • No Muffler: Any stealth rolls made to hide your vehicle automatically fail, and any rolls made to notice your vehicle automatically succeed.

  • If there is not enough free space to expand the object, it cannot be expanded. You cannot expand this Object as an attack.

Big Bessie

Created and held by Cleatus Abernathy.
Normally in the shape of a decativated .50 BMG bullet on a chain around his neck, the vehicle itself is a full sized APC capable of transporting 4 people in the front, and 6 in the back. The back compartment is separate, air tight, and equipped with heat and pressure sensors.

A black colored, military designated, and SCP branded 6 wheeled, all terrain capable, APC equipped to operate in any environment on the planet and now modded to function even underwater. Transitioning smoothly between on land and underwater Cleatus's mods to this APC show his talent as a mechanic.. even if he doesn't really understand what most of the parts are ACTUALLY called, his own internal system seems to have produced an anomalous vehicle perfect for the tasks he tackles on the day to day.

This Artifact can be used as a Big Bessie (Modded Foundation Anomaly Transport APC). It is roughly the same size as a Big Bessie (Modded Foundation Anomaly Transport APC) but can be collapsed into A decactivated.50 BMG bullet on a chain and concealed. Collapsing or expanding it costs a Quick Action.

This Big Bessie (Modded Foundation Anomaly Transport APC) has Armored vehicle, nitrous installed, back compartment is separate and air tight with an 8 hour oxygen supply. All other foundation compliant features, including built in police scanner, and radio communication.. Any roll to pilot this vehicle receives +2 dice.

You also gain the following effects:

  • Amphibious: Your vehicle may move on land as well as under water at its normal speed. If your vehicle includes an enclosed space, it will function as an airtight, pressurized cockpit.
  • Flying Car: Your vehicle may also fly at its normal speed. Taking off takes a full Action.

  • If there is not enough free space to expand the object, it cannot be expanded. You cannot expand this Object as an attack.

Through use of anomalous thaumaturgical runes, Cleatus's personal foundation APC has been upgraded with additional storage capability to allow it to store even the absolute largest of anomalies. As a bonus, it also allows him to roll around with all his daily necessities in the back, and hey. The anomaly will probably be a lot happier having access to a cooler full of coors than not right?

This Artifact can be used as a container. It is roughly the same size as a APC's transport space but can be collapsed into A decactivated.50 BMG bullet on a chain and concealed. Collapsing or expanding it costs a Quick Action.

Your APC's transport space holds three times what it normally could, and can be collapsed down to a pocket-sized version without losing any internal storage. You cannot access the contents while it is collapsed. Objects stored inside are weightless.

Living things can be stored in your APC's transport space. They will have access to anything else inside but cannot break free.

If your APC's transport space is destroyed, things inside may get out, and it will cease to function until it is repaired.

Only you may open and close the container. Others can still destroy it to get at the contents

  • There is no cost to use your container.

Reinforced siding with micron-scale thaumaturgic reinforcement on every surface, from the air hose to the muffler not a single part of this beauty is going to be anything less than perfect by the time Cleatus is done and he's not about to have his lovely lady Bessie in anything less than the most pristine shape so he's snagged some of those repair nanites from the foundation so even when it gets blasted it puts itself back together again before you can blink.

This Artifact has been upgraded.

This Artifact receives 3 extra dice to all actions taken for its intended use. Attacking with an upgraded weapon grants +3 Weapon Damage instead of additional dice. While it is upgraded, the item cannot be destroyed.

  • "Destroyed" in this context means "prevented from functioning for its primary purpose", so for instance, an upgraded land mine would still explode as normal if triggered, even though it cannot be "destroyed" and a car's windows may still be broken.
  • Reminder: additional Weapon Damage granted by this Effect does not stack with any other bonus to Weapon Damage. Instead the largest bonus is used. The same is true for extra dice.
  • Extra dice from this Effect do not apply to Gift activation rolls.

Frank's Multipass

SLE4442 Chip Card with nanomorphic coating.

A thin coating of nanite material has been applied to this plastic card, which can now change its outer form to become a driver's license, Passport card, government employee ID, security system badge, or any other form of ID or security pass the bearer wishes, including affecting the chip, mag stripe, or NFC components to generate valid responses on scanners.

This Artifact can change its appearance. When not transformed, it is roughly the same size as a Blank SLE4442 Chip Card and just as difficult to conceal.

Spend a Quick Action to activate. This Artifact changes its appearance into an Object within the category of Identification & Security cards. This lasts until you decide to end the Effect, which may be done as a Free Action.

The new object's appearance can mimic specific items (such as a particular painting, a certain person’s ID, etc), but must be of a similar size and weight to this Artifact.

The new appearance is illusory; it will hold up to scrutiny, but its composition is not altered and it gains no new functionality. Any attempt to use it for a function which it cannot perform (for instance, making bread look like a knife and then trying to stab someone) will cause the illusion to fail or allow a Perception check to see through the illusion, at the GM's discretion.

When used as identification and scanned, the scanner will act appropriately and bring up appropriate generic information. Further searches for the identity in the computer will turn up no results. This will not open security doors on its own.

  • Changing the Artifact’s appearance does not allow you to conceal its Alien nature while any of its other Effects are in use.

ECLIPSE 1

Created and held by Jack Thirston.
The ECLIPSE 1 (Dormant form) is a small white prism made out of white ceramic with extremely intricate details carved into the surface, that seems to resemble circuitry. Any mage worth their salt may recognise the circuits to be a spell framework, or enchantment. Though where "mana" or "magic" should be, there is instead a quiet hum of electricity. The ECLIPSE 1 (Dormant form) is built into a steel pendant with a built in tracker, attached to a sturdy tungsten chain.

The ECLIPSE 1 breaks apart into dizzying 4th dimensional prismatic fractals that grow and spread across the users body in a dull multi-coloured glow. Upon gaining enough mass the fractals subside into a more organic form... the ECLIPSE 1 (Combat form); a 7ft tall digitigrade mech suit equipped with limb mounted thruster's and a intimidating belt fed LMG attached to the left shoulder.

Exert your Mind and spend an Action.

You transform into the ECLIPSE 1 (Combat form) for 3 hours. You have access to all of your Powers while you are the ECLIPSE 1 (Combat form), and you can use your equipment. The Injuries and Battle Scars of your Alternate Form and your true form are tracked separately.

While transformed, your Attributes are the same. Your Stress is reduced by 2.

While transformed, instead of your normal clothes and equipment, you are equipped with: ECLIPSE 1 Combat form ( FPV 5 armour) (Shoulder mounted LMG, Red-dot) (Infra-red sensors), F90 Assault Rife (Red-dot, 3 Mags), Glock-19 (Red-dot, 2 mags).

Anyone who touches this Artifact will notice it warping their mind and may drop it. If they choose to hold or use it, they immediately receive the following Trauma: Dreams of the Eclipse home: When you sleep you dream of a pitch black maze full of violent creatures. At the start of each Contract and each time you fall asleep, make a Self-Control roll. If you fail, you take one Mind Damage. If they lose possession of this Artifact, the Trauma heals over the course of the next day.

  • Attribute bonuses from multiple sources do not stack. Instead the highest bonus is used.

Using your expert training you are able to activate the thruster's built into the rear of the suits back and limbs in order to take off and fly like... well, a Warmachine.

You gain the following benefits as long as you are wearing the ECLIPSE 1 (Combat form) and you are wearing this Artifact.

As long as you are conscious, you are immune to falling Damage. Additionally, you may glide as you fall, traveling 35 feet horizontally for every 10 feet you fall. While gliding, you fall at a minimum speed of 10 feet per Round.

You may ascend into the air and fly using your limb mounted thrusters. You don't require extra clear space on any side in order to fly, and get +2 dice for any rolls made to maneuver in mid-air. You may add 50 feet to Movement you take while flying. If you take more than a Severity 4 Injury to your limb mounted thrusters via a called shot or Battle Scar, you can only glide until they are healed.

You are subject to the following effects while gliding or flying:

  • Earthbound: You cannot fly or glide in an atmosphere thin enough to be unbreathable.
  • Weight-Limited: This Effect is suppressed any time you are over-encumbered.

  • Any penalties to dice or movement, including from Encumbrance, are applied as normal. If your movement is reduced to 0 due to encumbrance, you will begin to sink down to the ground.
  • You may activate this Effect while in midair, allowing you to slow and survive any free fall.

Arsenal of Cardistry

Created and held by Dave.
A box of cards

Artifact appearance: A normal looking playing card, specifically the 3 of hearts

Throwing Weapon: The Cardist preforms the move Flick, launching the card in the air, the normal card will fall back into the hand. While in the air will spawn a ethereal card seeking out its target

This Artifact produces ephemeral projectiles that can be used as a shuriken.

Attack by rolling Dexterity + Athletics, Difficulty 6. Successful attacks deal Contested Outcome +2 Weapon Damage.

You also gain the following effects:

  • Magic Quiver: Instead of throwing this Artifact, it is an object that produces an endless supply of temporary throwable objects. For example, bracers that allow you to throw ethereal javelins, or a sack of throwing rocks that doesn’t shrink when you withdraw one.
  • Not Quite Flying: You may Exert your Mind and use up your Movement to “follow” any attack using this weapon, traveling right next to its point of impact.
  • Ricochet: You can make a thrown attack against a target behind cover so long as there is at least one exposed pathway to them.

  • Created projectiles last only until they strike their target and cannot be shared or stockpiled.
  • The attack must be the primary form of attack for this weapon.
  • Reminder: additional Weapon Damage granted by this Effect does not stack with any other bonus to Weapon Damage. Instead the largest bonus is used.

Stock Legendary Artifacts

The Coffin

"The Coffin" is a black, alligator-skin briefcase made to look like its namesake. The interior is coated in red, quilted leather. It is quite a bit larger on the inside, appearing to stretch backwards like a dark passageway.

This Artifact holds 5 times what it normally could inside of it. Objects stored inside are weightless. Unless you are storing something commonly found in coffins, this Artifact behaves as its mundane counterpart. This Effect cannot be used unless you are storing something commonly found in coffins.

Living things can be stored in this Artifact. They will have access to anything else inside and may attempt to break free, damaging or destroying the Artifact in the process.

If this Artifact is destroyed, things inside may get out, and it will cease to function until it is repaired.

When scanned or investigated without opening, the contents of this container appear normal and unremarkable.

On a Downtime, you may change this Artifact from one type of container to another. Maximum once per Downtime.

If anyone other than you opens the container, it appears empty. Others can still destroy it to get at the contents.

  • You cannot change the container's type if you are not in possession of it.
  • A container of holding cannot be placed inside another created by the same Gift.
  • There is no cost to use this container.

Personal Shield Generator

The device itself is a metal hexagon that is worn on the belt and glows when active.

Expend a point of Battery and spend an Action or Reaction.

You phase out of reality for up to 4 Rounds. During this time, you cannot perceive or affect the outside world or take any Actions. You cannot move. Nothing can interact with you in any way.

When you activate this Effect, you may limit its duration to a period of your choosing. If you are able, you may also end it as a Free Action on your initiative.

You leave a golden glow shaped like yourself at your location.

  • If you use this Effect to dodge as a Reaction, it succeeds without the need for a roll. Cannot be used as a Desperate Defense.
  • You may use your Free Movement on the Round you phase back in, but you cannot take an Action.

Increase your sacrificial Injury's Severity by 1 and spend one minute. Select a Dead target within arm's reach with at least half its skeletal structure remaining. You must make a Trauma roll when you use this Effect. Its Difficulty cannot be reduced by any means. If you fail or Botch, you receive one Mind Damage and a new Trauma.

Your target rises as an Animate being. The raised creature is totally mindless, with no memory of its past life or hint of its old personality. They cannot communicate. They will follow any command you speak.

The creature lasts for eight hours or until it dies again. It is revived at full health. Any Injuries it had in life are not accounted for when determining its penalties or progression towards re-death, though they may affect its ability to perform certain actions at GM's discretion.

Raised creatures have their Abilities set to the same that they were in life. Their Charisma and Intellect are set to 1, but their Dexterity, Brawn and Perception are the same as they had in life. A raised creature cannot use any Effects.

Destroying one of your zombies requires a called shot to the head or heart. All other Injuries zombies suffer result in Battle Scars only, limiting their mobility and effectiveness in other ways.

Your revived targets deal 2 Weapon Damage with their unarmed attacks.

If you do not have a sacrificial Injury when you activate this Effect, take a new Severity-1 Injury.

  • The called shot requires 4 Outcome dealing 4+ Damage or 6 Outcome dealing 2+ Damage.
  • The sacrificial Injury received from activating this Effect cannot be prevented by any means or healed before 1 day has passed. It is shared with all Effects that use sacrifice. This Injury does not requires Stabilization or cause Battle Scars when it becomes Severe.
  • You can target yourself if you qualify as a valid target by the other requirements.
  • Your target must be within line of sight, or within range of another sense if more fitting for the Gift's flavor.

Winter Fang

A massive bow made of solid ice.

This Artifact can be used as a bow. It is roughly at least twice as large as a bow and cannot be concealed on your person or disassembled for storage.

Attack by rolling Dexterity + Athletics, Difficulty 6. Successful attacks deal Contested Outcome +3 Weapon Damage. Attacks do not require a successful called shot to do damage.

You also gain the following effects:

  • Infinite Ammo: This weapon never runs out of its standard ammunition.
  • Leave No Trace: Your projectiles crumble or vanish after impact, leaving no meaningful trace of your assault beyond the wounds they leave. If your attack would kill or incapacitate your target, they make no sound, even incidentally, for the next Round.

  • This Artifact cannot be disguised or morphed with other Effects like Shape-Changing object.
  • Reminder: additional Weapon Damage granted by this Effect does not stack with any other bonus to Weapon Damage. Instead the largest bonus is used.

This Artifact can change its appearance. When not transformed, it is roughly the same size as a passport and just as difficult to conceal.

Exert your Mind and spend an Action to activate. This Artifact changes its appearance into an Object within the category of forms of identification.
