Legendary Artifact

The Madame's Scepter

Created and held by Madame Ianthe.
A standing microphone with a silken strap to sling onto a shoulder one-handed.

Letting out a soft and melodious tune, a translucent golden film coated with black symbols appears over her target. The barrier sheds shimmering golden-black sparks as it deflects damage.

Madame Ianthe, in her quest for freedom, has made a host of friends with metaphysical beings. It is from them her strength comes as she speaks her dreams into reality.

Exert your Mind and spend an Action. Select a Animate target within 20 feet. Roll Charisma + Occult at Difficulty 6.

If you succeed, you create a barrier around your target, which absorbs the next Outcome + 4 Damage. The Damage reduction from the barrier is applied before Armor. This Artifact may only have 1 active barrier at a time.

The barrier will fall after two hours, or if it absorbs the full amount of Damage. When a barrier falls, you cannot use this Effect again for a minimum of 2 Rounds.

  • You can target yourself if you qualify as a valid target by the other requirements.
  • Your target must be within line of sight, or within range of another sense if more fitting for the Gift's flavor.

Community Artifacts

The black bag

Created and held by Allison Cooper.
On the outside.. it a normal bag although their are patches on the bag for local food charities and even bigger charities for donations. One of the noticable patches is a "Help Feed the Homeless!" in Red text on a black background. The material of the bag seems to be of a kevlar type matieral although it doesn't feel like Kevlar.

Looking on the outside the backpack seem completely normal with nothing out of place.. although that all changes when the bag is opened a dark greenish mist begins to pools inside the bag. from the opening as you peer into the bag you see a bright green eyes stare back at you.. although they seem content with just watching you. As you reach into the bag you seem to find whatever you were searching for.

For anyone else who opens the bag it seems to be an empty bag with nothing in it.

One night as Allison was trekking through the forests of upstate New York enjoying her day. As she was making her up Mount Mercy she came across a hurt dog in a middle of clearing.

Upon seeing the hurt dog, Allison quickly went to go save the dog as she felt immediately sadness, as she went to grab her Medical kit she realized that she left at home due to not having the room to carry it.

As she held the dog in her arms smoothing over the dogs fur, as she sat there the dog would slowly dissolve into a dark greenish mist as it flowed around her she would freak out as she jumps up and backs away.

However as she would back away the mist would follow her. As she would move around attempting to get away from the mist it would follow her anywhere she went, eventually Allison would open her bag to let the mist in, as she does this the Mist seems to get a tad bit excited as it moves into the bag.. Which becomes a friend of the person wearing the bag.

This Artifact can be used as a container. It is roughly the same size as a Black Backpack and just as difficult to conceal.

Your Black Backpack holds 3 times what it normally could. Objects stored inside are weightless.

Living things can be stored in your Black Backpack. They will have access to anything else inside and may attempt to break free, damaging or destroying the Black Backpack in the process.

If your Black Backpack is destroyed, things inside may get out, and it will cease to function until it is repaired.

When scanned or investigated without opening, the contents of your container appear normal and unremarkable.

If anyone other than you opens the container, it appears empty. Others can still destroy it to get at the contents.

This item is a living thing. When targeted, it counts as a Living Creature in addition to its other target types. If destroyed or abandoned for more than two days, it dies and becomes unusable.

  • There is no cost to use your container.

TORI 2.0

Created by Kurigo "Oz" Osikawa, given to Akira Han.
She is a 1963 Volkswagen Beetle with a racing strip and the number 53 on the hood.

TORI 2.0 stands for Tactical Off-Road Interceptor version 2

This Artifact can be used as a A car. It is roughly the same size as a A car and just as difficult to conceal.

This A car has Bulletproof Windows, Kevlar re-enforced body, run flat off-road tires, biometric security. Any roll to pilot this vehicle receives +2 dice.

You also gain the following effects:

  • Mind of its Own: This vehicle can move and take Actions without you driving it. It has seven dice for all Drive rolls.

Prosthetic Leg (Durga Class)

Created and held by Amarjeet Inderpal.
A sleek cybernetic leg made from advanced polymers & ceramics. The limb sleeve is strapless, adhering to the stump through internal compression creating a powerful seal. Nerve induction points on the sleeve transmit signals from the wearers nervous system to the leg's onboard weapon systems. As a Durga class leg, this prothesis is fitted for a female operative.

Amarjeet's broken leg has been replaced by a sleek, cybernetic model. Largely composed of State of the Art ceramics & polymers, it is still clearly artificial.

Onboard weapon systems include a 12 gauge "shotgun" port built into the knee. The leg is quite strong, & can deliver devastating kicks as a club. Blood Turbines & capacitors can provide current equal to a small generator through a adaptive plug.

Knee Gun: This weapon can only be fired with accuracy in Melee range, can hold 8 rounds, & is typically fired with a "Knee Strike" motion.

Striking: Kicks delivered by the leg count as strikes from a Baton/Club

The leg can be detached with some effort, & must be repaired or replaced if damaged.

You gain the following benefits as long as you are wearing this Artifact.

You gain an additional limb that functions as a standard human arm and hand.

Each additional limb you posses can take one Quick Action per Round without incurring a -2 dice penalty to your main Action. Any Battle Scars that affect or remove your additional limb will heal in a single week.

Your extra appendage can be used to attack in exactly the same manner as a Shotgun and Baton/Club.

Your extra appendage is not connected to your nervous or circulatory systems, and you will not take damage if it is hit by an attack or destroyed.

Your body provides you with the functionality of Electrical Generator. If used to attack, these "tools" use the same stats as a small knife.

Your Extra Appendage counts as an object and can be hacked or targeted by any Powers that affect objects or machines. Injuries to your Extra Appendage cannot be healed by Powers that affect living things but may be repaired during Downtime.

Your Extra Appendage is incapable of fine object manipulation.

Fleshbound Tome

Created by Owen Vanderstraaten, looted by Tabatha Van Sterling.
An extremely large book with bindings of sinew and pages of living skin, the Fleshbound Tome details many secrets regarding the intricacies of the flesh. Tabby laced it with a wonderful book cover.

Extracting a bloody lump of meat from the tome and hurling it to a nearby location, it bubbles in place for a few seconds before expanding into a fleshy sphere covered in gnashing teeth, claws, matted hair, and curved horns.

Expend a point of Battery and spend an Action. Select a Location within 50 feet.

Select one of the following alterations to create out of flesh originating at the target:

  • Dome: Create a dome or other simple, enclosed structure made of flesh up to 10 feet in radius, 6 feet high, and 6 inches thick.

The alteration begins to form when you activate this Effect and finishes forming on your initiative in the next Round. Until it finishes forming, it is not guaranteed to function.

This alteration lasts one minute but may be prematurely destroyed or altered. Your alterations may be broken through with appropriate tools. Anyone attempting to break through must roll Brawn + a relevant Ability. A cumulative Outcome of 3 across all attempts breaks a hole large enough to move through. See the extended system text for GM guidance on various tools.

You may end this Effect prematurely as a Free Action.

  • Attempting to break any alterations with inappropriate tools may damage or destroy the tools at the GM's discretion.
  • Any structures you create leave precise gaps for obstacles in their path or push them out of the way. You cannot directly destroy objects or structures or damage beings by creating walls or domes.
  • Tool guidance for GMs:
    • Difficulty 9: Brawn 5, no tools.
    • Difficulty 7-8: One-handed tools or makeshift tools (like a sword). Mythic Brawn without tools.
    • Difficulty 6: Appropriate manual tools. Crowbar, sledgehammer, armor-shredding attacks.
    • Difficulty 4-5: Power tools, vehicles, explosives.
  • You can target yourself if you qualify as a valid target by the other requirements.
  • Your target must be within line of sight, or within range of another sense if more fitting for the Gift's flavor.

Talaria

Created by Prototype, given to Jeremy Wesley.

The power of Hephaestus forges Talaria once more! Jeremy Wesley commissioned Kody Creighton for these- masterfully made metal and leather shoes flowing with power, swirling, molten designs of fiery kinetic energy that allow Jeremy to leap into the air like the god who owns the original set. Million dollar shoes for a billion dollar man.

Exert your Mind and spend an Action or Reaction. Select a Location which is at most 75 feet away horizontally or 15 feet away vertically. If you are using this Effect as a Reaction, you must travel at least 10 feet.

You jump to the chosen location. If the landing is precarious, the GM may call for a roll to land safely. You will never take fall damage from successfully landing a jump made with this Effect.

You may activate this Effect while in free-fall, as long as your target Location is a surface on which you can land. You are immune to fall damage.

When you use this Effect as a Reaction to dodge, if you Exert your Mind to activate the Effect, you do not need to roll; your dodge is automatically successful.

  • If you are Encumbered, the maximum range is cut in half. If Encumbrance has reduced your total movement to 0, you cannot activate this Effect.
  • vertical jump height measures to the bottom of your feet, so your total vertical reach is at least a body length greater.
  • Rolls to land safely will generally be Athletics, but GMs may call for a different roll at their discretion if it makes sense for the specific circumstances.
  • You may only use this Effect once per Round of combat, regardless of any Enhancements you have taken.
  • You can target yourself if you qualify as a valid target by the other requirements.
  • Your target must be within line of sight, or within range of another sense if more fitting for the Gift's flavor.

Stock Legendary Artifacts

Winter Fang

A massive bow made of solid ice.

This Artifact can be used as a bow. It is roughly at least twice as large as a bow and cannot be concealed on your person or disassembled for storage.

Attack by rolling Dexterity + Athletics, Difficulty 6. Successful attacks deal Contested Outcome +4 Weapon Damage. The target's Armor is fully effective against this Damage. Attacks do not require a successful called shot to do damage.

You also gain the following effects:

  • Infinite Ammo: This weapon never runs out of its standard ammunition.
  • Leave No Trace: Your projectiles crumble or vanish after impact, leaving no meaningful trace of your assault beyond the wounds they leave. If your attack would kill or incapacitate your target, they make no sound, even incidentally, for the next Round.

  • This Artifact cannot be disguised or morphed with other Effects like Shape-Changing object.
  • Reminder: additional Weapon Damage granted by this Effect does not stack with any other bonus to Weapon Damage. Instead the largest bonus is used.

255TE "Lancer" Rife

A metallic disk that, with the press of a button, expands into a futuristic-looking rifle.

This Artifact can be used as a rifle. It is roughly the same size as a rifle but can be collapsed into a metallic disk and concealed. Collapsing or expanding it costs a Quick Action.

Attack by rolling Dexterity + Firearms, Difficulty 6. Successful attacks deal Contested Outcome +4 Weapon Damage. The target's Armor is fully effective against this Damage.

You also gain the following effects:

  • Silencer: Shots you fire can be made silent at will.

  • If there is not enough free space to expand the object, it cannot be expanded. You cannot expand this Object as an attack.
  • Reminder: additional Weapon Damage granted by this Effect does not stack with any other bonus to Weapon Damage. Instead the largest bonus is used.
  • Rifles are +1 Difficulty to use in melee range. Sniper Rifles are +3 Difficulty to use without a tripod or in melee range. Setting up a tripod takes an Action.

Take a Severity-1 Injury and spend one minute. Select a Dead target within arm's reach with at least half its skeletal structure remaining. You must make a Trauma roll when you use this Effect. Its Difficulty cannot be reduced by any means.

Your target rises as an Animate being. The raised creature is totally mindless, with no memory of its past life or hint of its old personality. They cannot communicate. They will follow any command you speak.

The creature lasts for eight hours or until it dies again. It is revived at full health. Any Injuries it had in life are not accounted for when determining its penalties or progression towards re-death, though they may affect its ability to perform certain actions at GM's discretion.

Raised creatures have their Abilities set to the same that they were in life. Their Charisma and Intellect are set to 1, but their Dexterity, Brawn and Perception are the same as they had in life. A raised creature cannot use any Effects.

Destroying one of your zombies requires a called shot to the head or heart. All other Injuries zombies suffer result in Battle Scars only, limiting their mobility and effectiveness in other ways.

Your revived targets deal 2 Weapon Damage with their unarmed attacks.

  • The called shot requires 4 Outcome dealing 4+ Damage or 6 Outcome dealing 2+ Damage.
  • You can target yourself if you qualify as a valid target by the other requirements.
  • Your target must be within line of sight, or within range of another sense if more fitting for the Gift's flavor.

Personal Shield Generator

The device itself is a metal hexagon that is worn on the belt and glows when active.

Expend a point of Battery and spend an Action or Reaction.

You phase out of reality for up to 4 Rounds. During this time, you cannot perceive or affect the outside world or take any Actions. You cannot move. Nothing can interact with you in any way.

When you activate this Effect, you may limit its duration to a period of your choosing. If you are able, you may also end it as a Free Action on your initiative.

You leave a golden glow shaped like yourself at your location.

  • If you use this Effect to dodge as a Reaction, it succeeds without the need for a roll. Cannot be used as a Desperate Defense.
  • You may use your Free Movement on the Round you phase back in, but you cannot take an Action.

This Effect activates whenever you are recorded. It does not require an Action or Exertion. Select a Non-Sapient Object within 20 feet no larger than a duffel bag (35 liters). Roll Perception + Culture Difficulty 6.

If your Outcome is 4 or higher, the target will be completely destroyed and can no longer function, though it may still be repaired. If your Outcome is less than 4, the target will be partially damaged, and any attempts to use it will suffer a dice penalty equal to your Outcome.

  • When triggered, the Effect activation resolves immediately after the triggering Action. It is not Reaction speed.
  • The penalty from an object being damaged will stack with itself if a target is hit multiple times, but the object is destroyed when it reaches a total penalty of -4.
  • You can target yourself if you qualify as a valid target by the other requirements.
  • Your target must be within line of sight, or within range of another sense if more fitting for the Gift's flavor.
