Crafted Artifact

Goroshades

Created by Stan T. Mann, given to Goro Hamada.
Messy aviator sunglasses, their exterior is adorned with a number of tally marks. Current True Owner: Goro Hamada.
Crafted by Delphyrion Arcanis

Delphyrion's spray can releases a rainbow mist that coats this artifact in a translucent, glittery purple substance that's incredibly hard to destroy. It resembles rubber (pliable and flexible) so it allows a full range of motion. As long as this artifact is in your possession, the armour spreads to you as well.

On source material:
Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs has always been a classic. The shoes Flint Lockwood had seemed to be made of some elastic biopolymer adhesive that stuck to his feet until it wore off a few days later. At first he was pretty disappointed by it, but Delphyrion was interested in how Flint couldn't destroy it at all.

On applications:
It is actually quite useful as sealant for plumbing and other repairs. Actually, Delphyrion derived the substance from Flex Seal, which was used for roofs. Since it would be stationary with this usage, unlike how a person would constantly move around, it takes a while for the spray to wear off. Delphyrion has tested it out on a number of equipment and it has almost always been successful. That is, until he tried using it to fix his glassware. Those kept exploding no matter what they were used for.

On rainbow spray:
It was actually an accident that the spray ended up being rainbow-coloured; they didn't expect it to be anything like the movie, but Delphyrion's very satisfied with it. It just gives the armour a nice sheen, like the psychedelic colours on the surface of an oil spill. Also, it's gay.

On clothing:
Wear your clothes. Literally, this is not an alternative for clothing. This stuff is translucent so chances are that people can actually see what's underneath. If you're really brave (and not afraid of indecency charges) it'd generally look like you're wearing a skintight jumpsuit. Or, like, spray it on top of your clothes.

On the spray can:
It's just a regular spray can with a label on it. Also, Delphyrion's last name is Arcanis. Hence, ArCANis, get it?

Delphyrion's original artifact description:
ArCANis Spray Can - Just a spray can with a colourful label. What's important is Delphyrion's addition to the contents: a rubbery substance that sprays out in a rainbow mist.

You gain the following benefits as long as you are wearing this Artifact.

You have 4 Armor, which reduces incoming Damage. Armor from multiple sources does not stack.

Your Armor cannot be destroyed, and it always provides a minimum of 2 Armor regardless of any Armor shredding or penetration. It cannot be circumvented with Called Shots. When shredded, it returns to full potency in one hour.

Any Injury received from Damage that was reduced by this Armor is considered Makeshift Stabilized and will not degrade further, and any Battle Scar caused by them is reduced by 1 level. You may attempt a single Proper Stabilization on such Injuries.

  • This Effect’s Armor rating cannot be increased by any other Effects.
Crafted by Stan T. Mann

Everyone’s seen swords thrown in movies with supposedly pinpoint accuracy. Everyone’s seen weaponized hats that are thrown like a frisbee. Heck, we've seen shields that ricochet and bounce around, defying all sense of realism. But has anybody ever seen somebody throw their kickass shades at somebody, knock em unconscious, then catch ‘em afterwards? Heck, why stop there? Why not have the shades fly back onto the thrower's face?
Stan pondered this for a while… and decided that he should be the first!
With the power of movie magic (and some fiddling with object vectors), this item can be thrown at a guy, boomerang style, and bounce between a bunch of goons. Afterwards, they fly right back into the wielder's hand; if they're kickass shades, they fly right back onto the wielder's face as if they were never taken off in the first place. So badass.
Stan typically uses his shades, but if a shield can be flung effectively, why can't anything else? Easier to throw small stuff, though. More believable.
All you need is that suspension of disbelief, kid. It'll take you to places you could've never imagined.

This Artifact can be used as a shuriken. It is roughly the same size as a shuriken and just as difficult to conceal.

Attack by rolling Dexterity + Athletics, Difficulty 6. Successful attacks deal Contested Outcome +2 Weapon Damage.

You also gain the following effects:

  • Chain Lightning: You may Exert your Mind to perform a chain lightning attack. If your attack succeeds, All targets within 5 feet of your primary target take full Damage. The Damage can “jump” up to 5 times. Each target can be hit only once.
  • Return: When you throw this weapon, you may opt to have it return to your possession at the end of the attack. Whoever threw this artifact last may use an Action to recall it from up to 100 feet away, attacking one target in its return path as they do so.

  • Reminder: additional Weapon Damage granted by this Effect does not stack with any other bonus to Weapon Damage. Instead the largest bonus is used.

Sometimes things don't work out. Sometimes they malfunction or go haywire.
For you? They seem to go well every time.
Thanks to movie magic (and some fudging of the coefficient of friction, though you don't realize it), any weapons that are swung at you seem to melt and become malformed as they collide with both you and the surrounding air, so long as you wear these kickass aviators that're emitting this li'l field of movie magic.
If you don’t pull em down and wink, then these babies won’t work. Little equations float around the glasses whenever they’re used in this way, too.
You still gotta act like you're taking the blow though. The trick works best when you get the fight choreography... just right.
How else will the audience appreciate the work put into this.

This Effect activates whenever you are attacked by a melee weapon. It does not require an Action or Exertion. Select a melee weapons within arm's reach no larger than a duffel bag (35 liters). Your target should be intuitively based on the triggering event. Roll Dexterity + Athletics Difficulty 6.

If your Outcome is 4 or higher, the target will be completely destroyed and can no longer function, though it may still be repaired. If your Outcome is less than 4, the target will be partially damaged, and any attempts to use it will suffer a dice penalty equal to your Outcome.

  • When triggered, the Effect activation resolves immediately after the triggering Action. It is not Reaction speed.
  • The penalty from an object being damaged will stack with itself if a target is hit multiple times, but the object is destroyed when it reaches a total penalty of -4.
  • You can target yourself if you qualify as a valid target by the other requirements.
  • Your target must be within line of sight, or within range of another sense if more fitting for the Gift's flavor.
Crafted by Koriol Celestheryne

You chase each bond after bond like it's all you'd ever want, not knowing it was always meant to be fleeting. The beauty of life and serendipity escapes you as you insist on pinning the red string of fate upon each and every milestone.

Now, it has made it to your gifts as well. They are tethered to you by what may be an invisible string, and eventually you are bound to be connected to so many that you become a network of promises. The visuals remind you of an evidence board, beautiful in its ordered chaos, soon to be smothered in red.

This item has been promised to you. Do not let anyone take it away.
Never again.

On the red string:
Koriol, ever the artist, weaves in crimson strings. They wrap around and through the artifact, pinned down in the same manner that one would install 10 locks on a door. He's slipping. He needs a safety net. This will have to do. Soon enough the strings appear to vanish, but deep down we all know... it was meant to be.

This Artifact cannot be broken. If this Artifact is lost and in no one else’s possession, it finds its way back to its true owner during the next Downtime.

By default, the creator of this Artifact is its true owner. The true owner may formally bequeath this Artifact onto another person within arm’s reach, after which they are its true owner. If the true owner dies or is destroyed, their ownership ends. If this Artifact has no true owner, anyone may spend one day attuning to it to become its true owner.

If this Artifact is in no one else’s possession, its true owner may Exert their Mind and spend two Actions to bring it to themselves.

  • "Cannot be broken" means that damage cannot render the Artifact's Effects unusable, nor can it cease to be used for its primary mundane purpose, if it has one.

Community Artifacts

Contract Name: The XO

Created and held by Selia Regoria.
A futuristic tablet that folds into a compact smartphone sized device.

The XO was a proud and power hungry man. His will to keep going was so much in fact that dying and going down with his ship didn't stop him from lingering as a violent spirit. At the owner of his ledger's behest he manifests near his target and swings with his blade, the spectral weapon cuts only what is living tissue of the target, an extension of his envy.

Spend an Action. Select a target within 300 feet. Roll Charisma + Occult Difficulty 6. The target may contest by rolling to Dodge or Defend as a Reaction, Difficulty 6.

If the Contested Outcome is positive, the target takes that much Damage plus 2.

You may use this Effect to Defend against any melee, projectile, or firearm Attacks within range or Clash against any Attack targeted at you. Using it to Defend deals no Damage but does not cost Exertion.

This Gift's Cost is capped at 2 and cannot be increased further.

  • You can target yourself if you qualify as a valid target by the other requirements.
  • Your target must be within line of sight, or within range of another sense if more fitting for the Gift's flavor.

Sticky Hand

Created and held by Remus Zigadenus.
A tiny pink toy sticky hand, attached onto the side of a pallid right arm sprouting with Clownflesh, once little more than a ruined white stump.

At once, the tiny adornment to Remus's missing right hand stretched out to proportions far beyond the appendage that had once been there, extending the length of his wrist immensely with additional rubber.

Yanking back on his index, middle and ring fingers until his hand was pulled flat against his shoulder, the large rubber prosthesis was launched back at his mark with a startling amount of bludgeoning force!

Thought this could be fun to reference the Clown Makeup battle scar I got from the Thomas Clown Affair, similar to how comic powers are attached in other ways to clowny injuries that disrupt an otherwise themed toolkit.

You gain the following benefits as long as you are wearing this Artifact.

You gain an additional limb that functions as a standard human arm and hand.

Each additional limb you posses can take one Quick Action per Round without incurring a -2 dice penalty to your main Action. Each additional appendage you have gives you +1 dice to make and resist Grapples (up to a maximum bonus of +4 dice).

Any Battle Scars that affect or remove your additional limb will heal in a single week.

Your appendage is capable of bending and squishing in normally-impossible ways. It may fit through any gap that is not water-tight and retain its functionality.

Your extra appendage can stretch to reach an additional 30 feet.

  • You may stretch, retract, or move your limbs 30 feet once per Round.

Magic Body Pillow

Created and held by Reginald Jackson.
A body pillow infused with unknown dark arts and strangely, Vocaloid hair. It stinks to high hell, and you can notice some suspicious stains on it. There is an illustration of a blue haired anime girl with twin tails on it holding a peace sign up. No one but the user knows what it's true power holds.

The user lays down the body pillow gently and begins reciting a speech from their favorite anime, others will witness the pillow begin to rise at first and will watch on in horror as the girl illustrated begins to form, layer by layer, bone, sinew, muscle, tissue, and hair all form into an adorable anime girl who will defend the user to the death if necessary.

Exert your Mind and spend two Actions performing the following ritual: Inspirational anime speech.. You must maintain Concentration while activating this Effect, and it fails if you are interrupted.

Summon a single Miku-Tan at your location. They will last for two hours, or until they are destroyed. They are controlled by the GM but will follow any commands you give. You may have at most 1 minion active at a time.

  • Attacking: Minions can make melee range attacks with 6 dice to attack and +2 Damage.
  • Body: Minions have 6 Body.
  • Movement: Minions can move 45 feet per Round as Free Movement, and double that when performing an all-out Sprint.
  • Intelligence: Minions have dog-level intelligence, and cannot communicate back to you. They cannot actively use Equipment.
  • Actions: Minions cannot dodge or Defend. Any Perception checks they make are rolled with 3 dice.

Rapid Biological Prototyper

Created and held by Alice Abernathy.
A rather sterile looking device, looking somewhat like a pistol. The 'barrel' end of it has a rubber eyepiece and a camera. An array of needles are positioned around the camera. An exposed circuit board shows signs of work with an unsteady hand and a sodering iron. At the bottom is a canister of some sort of a thick blue fluid. Printed on the top of it is "WARNING: Improper use will result in irreversable eye lesion."

The device is pressed to the ocular canal, and the trigger pulled. There's a snapping sound, and blood begins to leak around the rubber gasket around the eye. It is exceedingly unpleasant. The person being treated experiences a rapid fever during the procedure, and can feel the needles moving inside of them.

Their body changes. A chime indicates the end, and the device can be removed, the needles around bloody.

Exert your Mind and spend 30 minutes. Select a Living target within arm's reach. The target can easily Resist.

You may add one augmentation to your target. Each augmentation counts as a Battle Scar and can have exactly one of the following Effects:

  • Specialized: You receive +2 dice to a particular non-combat Action.
  • Environmental Adaptation: You do not suffer harm from heat, cold, pressure, or lack of oxygen in a particular environment, provided that challenge normally exists in that environment.
  • Implanted Tool: You have access to the functionality of some common Device at all times. The selected Device can be no larger than a motorcycle helmet.
  • Armor: You have 2 Armor at all times. As always, Armor from multiple sources does not stack.
  • Pouch: Part of your body functions as a hidden pocket. It can hold no more than a briefcase (15 liters).
  • Zippy: Your Free Movement is increased by 10 feet.
  • Maws and Claws: Your unarmed attacks do +2 Weapon Damage instead of -1.

The augmentations you provide are not outwardly visible nor obvious.

You may end this Effect prematurely as a Free Action.

Anyone who witnesses you during this Effect's activation will almost certainly be disturbed to see Needles piercing into the subject's eye - when the device is removed, blood running down their face, their eye completely bloodshot.

  • When narrating disturbing content, be cognizant of your group's tone and accommodating to those who would like to "fast forward" through the description.
  • Remember: A Contractor’s Body rating is reduced by 1 for each Battle Scar after their fourth.
  • You may not augment targets with pouches or implanted devices that are larger than they are.
  • Targets without Body ratings may have a maximum of 4 augmentations.
  • You can target yourself if you qualify as a valid target by the other requirements.
  • Your target must be within line of sight, or within range of another sense if more fitting for the Gift's flavor.
