Lex approaches a stranger and draws them into a conversation about the weather. A few one-word answers aren't enough to ward them off, their questions becoming less socially acceptable as their eyes dart between a patch of skin on the stranger's wrist, their bloodshot eyes, and their gait before abruptly wandering away a minute later.
Exert your Mind (unless you win a coin flip) and spend one minute. Select a Sapient target within 20 feet. You must actively converse with the individual in question for one minute in order to gather any information. At the end of your investigation, roll Perception + Medicine at Difficulty 6. The target resists by rolling Mind at Difficulty 7.
You learn all the following information about your target:
The quality and specificity of information gained depends on your Outcome.
You cannot investigate the same target more than once per day.
"OH GOD CONCRETE IS POURING FROM MY EYES MY EARS MY MOUTH PLEASE HEE---"
The Brutal Hammer strikes the spot: and from thy spot, concrete shalt make thy art.
Exert your Mind and spend an Action. Select a Location within 300 feet. Roll a single D10 as a critical failure check. If you roll a 1, the Effect fails, and you instead are affected by this as if it were a full success: you don't get to resist. (affects anyone nearby too! sorry guys). Roll Brawn + Crafts at Difficulty 6. All targets within 20 feet of the chosen Location may contest by Defending or Dodging.
If you succeed, all affected targets will be restricted at their location by a physical, tangible binding. They cannot move to a new location, and, if your Contested Outcome was greater than their Brawn, they are encased and cannot take any physical Actions other than attempting to escape until they break free.
The target may spend an Action and roll Brawn or Dexterity + Athletics to attempt to break free. They must accumulate a total Outcome equal to or greater than the original Contested Outcome to escape. Damage to the binding from outside sources also contributes.
Anyone who witnesses you during this Effect's activation will almost certainly be disturbed to see You point the hammer in a general direction and whoever's in that direction immediately gets enveloped in an encasement of concrete that envelops them as they scream: and are filled with concrete... entirely... inside & outside..
Garbed in illusion, Leon steps forward and speaks with the target, though little do they know that with each word dropped, every phrase spoken, and every little signal of body language they surrender more than they could ever possibly know to Leon and as they continue to interact with the illusion. The little tells that people give off as their social mask shifts, ever so different than how they'd wear it in front of him, and as he pulls the strings like a puppet master the mask slips at last. Exposing exactly what Leon wants to know.
Exert your Mind and spend one minute. Select a Sapient target within arm's reach. This Effect cannot be used unless They are interacting with one of Leon's illusions as if it is real. You must actively converse with the individual in question for one minute in order to gather any information. At the end of your investigation, roll Charisma + Influence at Difficulty 6.
You learn all the following information about your target:
The quality and specificity of information gained depends on your Outcome.
Fortuna tries to open a door she's unsure whether it's locked. Luckily it opens without much resistance. Last person to use it must've forgotten to close it.
Spend an Action. Select a Non-Alien door, container, knot, or lock within arm's reach , which is not electronic and can be no more complex than a standard key lock.
You may lock, unlock, and/or open your target.
This Effect is not obvious, and the only sign you are using an Effect is Eyes flashing for a moment. If someone suspects that an Effect was used, they must roll Perception + Alertness, Difficulty 8 to pick up on your Tell.
With the snap of her fingers, Mina can create or extinguish fires.
Exert your Mind and spend an Action to activate. Select a target within 20 feet which has both fuel and oxygen available (if you are starting a new fire).
You may start or extinguish a fire as large as a torch's flame at your target. You may create or extinguish fires the size of a lighter or candle flame without Exerting your Mind. Your fires require fuel and oxygen in order to continue burning.
Lighting a target on fire deals 2 Damage per Round, starting in the Round after the one in which they caught fire. This Damage is reduced by Armor, but the target’s Armor rating will be depleted by any Damage dealt, destroying the Armor once it reaches 0.
As Blake begins to cast Fireball, his eyes blaze with a fierce intensity, reflecting the elemental power he commands. Incantations flow from his lips, each word igniting the air around him.
The staff, carved with intricate runes, glows a brilliant crimson, and fiery tendrils dance along its length. Flames swirl around the staff's tip, coalescing into a searing orb of incandescent fire.
As he finishes his incantation, a huge ball of fire hurls towards his target. The area targeted by the Fireball heats immensely seconds before impact.
Upon impact, it explodes in a blinding flash, engulfing the area in a ferocious inferno that incinerates everything within its radius. The aftermath leaves scorched earth and smoldering embers, a testament to Blake's formidable pyromancy.
Exert your Mind and spend an Action. Select a Location no further than 40 feet from you and in your line of sight. You must actively and obviously use staff to activate this Effect. The area within 25 feet of the chosen Location immediately and obviously becomes imminently dangerous. Roll Intellect + Occult at Difficulty 6. Targets inside the radius may attempt an appropriate Reaction at GM’s discretion. Finding a physical barrier to use as cover will cut total Damage taken in half (applies after Reaction roll but before Armor).
If the Outcome is positive, your blast hits everything within 25 feet of the chosen Location with Damage equal to your Outcome + 4.
Any flammable Objects within the radius during the blast will catch fire, and any being who takes at least 4 Damage will catch fire. Starting the Round after they caught fire, flaming targets take 2 Damage per Round until the fire is extinguished.
All it takes is a flick of your hair and a bat of your eyelashes, and you’ve got their attention.

Audiences or mobs with a singular focus count as one target. Roll Charisma + Performance at Difficulty 6. All affected targets may resist by rolling Mind at Difficulty 7.
If you succeed, the targets will keep their full attention focused on you for Contested Outcome in Rounds. They will automatically fail any rolls related to noticing anything other than you.
If you pass from their perception and they are unable to pursue you, the Effect ends. If they can follow you, they must do so for 2 Rounds or the Effect will end. The Effect ends early if the target is Injured or violence occurs nearby.
This does not affect the target’s opinion of you or their mood, and they may take any Actions while affected (including attacking), as long as that action centers on you. Fascinated targets cannot Concentrate.
As a free creature, The Fairy cannot withstand being caged or imprisioned in any way. Luckily, they possess a glamour that allows them to unlock any lock binding them with a wink of their eye. The lock falls open with a sparkle of light and a sound like a ringing bell.
Spend an Action. Select a Non-Alien door, container, knot, or lock within arm's reach. This Effect cannot be used unless the targeted lock or door is being used to restrain or imprison you.
You may lock, unlock, and/or open your target.
The musician assumes a powerful stance and strums a mighty power chord on their guitar. A blast of sound waves radiate outwards, destroying all who dare face the power chord directly.
Exert your Mind and spend an Action. You must actively and obviously use your instrument to activate this Effect. The area within 25 feet of you immediately and obviously becomes imminently dangerous. Roll Charisma + Performance at Difficulty 6. Targets inside the radius may attempt an appropriate Reaction at GM’s discretion. Finding a physical barrier to use as cover will cut total Damage taken in half (applies after Reaction roll but before Armor).
If the Outcome is positive, your blast hits everything within 25 feet of you with Damage equal to your Outcome + 4. If you botched the activation roll, you will also take full Damage from the blast, otherwise it will not hurt you.
You may only use this Effect once per day.
The Future Soldier learned to create foam grenades in their own time period, and they still can, kinda. They look like glowing orange capsules with a rugged rubberized grip. When thrown, they burst into a splash of expanding neon orange foam. The foam hardens in seconds, severely hampering the movement of anyone unlucky enough to have been splashed. Those affected may use their hands or weapons to hack away at the foam and free themselves.
Occasionally, the fuses on these bootleg grenades fails, and they go off immediately.
Spend an Action and use up this small metallic grenade with pin (unless you succeed on 1d10, Difficulty 7). Make a thrown Attack at a Location within normal Attack range. Roll a single D10 as a critical failure check. If you roll a 1, the Effect fails, and you are hit as it activates immediately at your present location. The target may roll to dodge or Defend, as normal for thrown Attacks. The Attack itself does not deal any Damage beyond the Effect.
If you succeed, all affected targets will be restricted at their location by a physical, tangible binding. They can still move their arms and use Effects, but are reduced to ¼ of their movement speed.
The binding around a target must be destroyed in order for them to break free. Breaking the binding requires a total amount of Damage equal to twice the original Contested Outcome. Damage from multiple attacks is cumulative and stacks linearly.
Through the use of clever rhetoric, the spy is able to inspire a surge of emotion in a target with whom they are speaking.
Exert your Mind and spend an Action. Select a Living target within 45 feet as well as a specific emotion. This Effect cannot be used unless you are engaged in conversation with the target. Roll Charisma + Influence at Difficulty 6. Affected targets can resist by rolling Mind at Difficulty 6 -3 dice.
If you succeed, for the next minute, your target will do things they otherwise wouldn’t have done, inspired by the chosen emotion. They will not necessarily display their emotions in an obvious way.
Actions they take will be in keeping with their character and the way they tend to deal with strong emotions. They will be unlikely to change their mind about any actions taken or decisions made until after the Effect ends.
