Ana is learning to tap into the power of the ley lines and access true magic. She has learned to create a barrier around herself to protect herself from attacks. When the barrier is activated a pair of ethereal curtains close in front of her, and reopen when the barrier falls. While her barrier is active she appears to be surrounded by an aura of shimmering light.
Exert your Mind and spend an Action. Roll Dexterity + Athletics at Difficulty 6.
If you succeed, you create a barrier around yourself, which absorbs the next Outcome + 4 Damage. The Damage reduction from the barrier is applied before Armor. You may only have 1 active barrier at a time.
The barrier will fall after two hours, or if it absorbs the full amount of Damage. When a barrier falls, you cannot use this Effect again for a minimum of 2 Rounds.
- Dec. 4, 2023, 11:23 p.m. - Major Revision Cost: 1. Parameter Barrier Strength changed from 0 to 1.
Jeremy Soap takes a deep breath, then blows into a Bubble Wand, shaping a humanoid bubble capable of moving on its own and imbuing it with his will, which he calls a "Bubble Buddy". If he fails to properly imbue it, all that comes out is a bubble.
Exert your Mind and spend an Action to activate. You must actively and obviously use Bubble Wand to activate this Effect.
Summon a single Humanoid Bubble at your location. They will last for an hour, or until they are destroyed. They are controlled by the GM but will follow any commands you give. You may have at most 1 minion active at a time.
Minions have 4 Body and can make melee range attacks with 5 dice to attack and +1 Damage. They cannot move faster than a walk and cannot dodge incoming attacks. They have dog-level intelligence, but are capable of communicating information back to you. Any Perception checks they make are rolled with 3 dice.
Your minions can fly at their normal movement speed.
Recalling a time when you had an item that you've stashed, you "blip" out and a new you appears shortly after, with the gear on-hand.
Spend a Quick Action.
You may withdraw an item from your stash, or add an item that is within arm’s reach to your stash. You may only stash targets which are grappled, or otherwise controlled by you. You may Exert your Mind and spend an Action to stash items in others' possession, but they automatically notice that you stole the item.
You may store mining equipment in your stash, each no larger than something which could fit inside a briefcase (15 liters), and you may store up to 1 things at a time.
You may choose to equip any equipment you withdraw at no additional cost.
A greenish energy flows from the wand, transforming Kergan into a bear or bird. The bird has an obvious 3rd eye. The bear has antlers and has streaked brown and white fur.
Exert your Mind and spend an Action. You must actively and obviously use intricately carved wand to activate this Effect.
You transform into bird or grizzly bear until you transform into something else or choose to return to your original form. See the Extended System text for stats.
While transformed, you cannot use any equipment (including Artifacts and Consumables), and you do not have access to any of your Powers. Any equipment you are wearing transforms with you.
Injuries and Wound Level are carried over between forms. However, transforming can never kill you; you merely remain Incapacitated until your Injuries are sufficiently healed.
While transformed, you are obviously unusual, unnatural, or alien, and the average person will take a special interest in you.
The Passenger rips forward out of the host's flesh, spraying the ground and anyone near with warm blood. It surges forward, carrying all of its malice and anger to pierce straight through any who stand before it. Though The Passenger itself is about a liter of crimson, the activation of this ability releases a torrent of blood that can be easily controlled and manipulated by its host. The dark red stays close to the host, not usually moving beyond five feet from the host, but the extra manifested blood can be controlled up to 30 feet away.
While the host remains competent and capable, The Passenger will behave, being as vicious or soft as its controller requires. It does not, however, tolerate failures, and when its host cannot meet its demands, it attempt to find another, more suitable host to augment.
The Passenger can be destroyed or stolen in a number of ways:
* Injecting the host with anticoagulants.
* Sucking it out of the part of the body that it inhabits.
* Severing the limb that it inhabits.
* Something able to grapple incorporeal creatures should be able to pull The Passenger out of its host.
* Once dead, The Passenger will burst out of the host's body to find a new host.
Exert your Mind and spend an Action. You must use up 1 Liter of Blood in order to activate this Effect.
You gain an additional limb that functions as a standard human arm and hand. Lasts two hours.
Each additional limb you posses can take one Quick Action per Round without incurring a -2 dice penalty to your main Action. Each additional appendage you have gives you +1 dice to make and resist Grapples (up to a maximum bonus of +4 dice).
Any Battle Scars that affect or remove your additional limb will heal in a single week.
Your extra appendage can be used to attack in exactly the same manner as a Thrusting Sword.
Your appendage is capable of bending and squishing in normally-impossible ways. It may fit through any gap that is not water-tight and retain its functionality.
Your extra appendage can stretch to reach an additional 30 feet.
You may turn this Effect on and off at will during its duration.
Your extra appendage is not connected to your nervous or circulatory systems, and you will not take damage if it is hit by an attack or destroyed.
Your appendage has its own agenda (to Find a Better Host), which it will attempt to follow. You must roll Self-Control to reassert control when this occurs. If this occurs during Combat, it gets its own dice pool, and stopping it costs your entire Action.
Exert your Mind and spend one minute.
You may understand and communicate to as if you are fluent in a relevant language for the next hour.
While active and speaking to a single individual, you may choose to use glib tongue. When you do, anything you say to them (even gibberish) will be exactly what they want to hear. You gain no understanding of what that might be.
Whenever you encounter a Language you could commune in with this Effect, you immediately understand which language it is, the dialect, region, and other details about it.
The Necromancer stands over a corpse and makes a series of grandiose lifting gestures. The corpse rises from the ground as though suspended by invisible strings, barks a pained groan, and lands on its feet, now a full-fledged member of the living dead.
Take a Severity-1 Injury and spend an Action. You must use up a corpse in order to activate this Effect.
Summon a single zombie at your location. They will last until they are destroyed. They are controlled by the GM but will follow any commands you give. You may have at most 1 minion active at a time.
The mobster knows a guy they can call for a hired goon, who arrives about a minute later. The goons are dumb as bricks, but tough nonetheless, perfect for sending a message when you need to keep your hands clean.
Exert your Mind and spend one minute. You must actively and obviously use a cell phone to activate this Effect.
Summon a single goon at your location. They will last until they are destroyed. They are controlled by the GM but will follow any commands you give. You may have at most 1 minion active at a time.
You may only use this Effect once per day.
The werewolf unleashes their inner beast, transforming into an imposing hybrid of human and wolf. Their head reforms into that of a wolf, robbing them of speech but bestowing a maw of deadly fangs. Grey fur sprouts from their body as it swells with muscle, ripping any tight-fitting clothes. While transformed, the werewolf is impulsive and driven more by instinct than logic.
If The Werewolf is struck my moonlight, they are compelled to transform.
Exert your Mind and spend a Quick Action.
You transform into a werewolf for 3 minutes. You have access to all of your Powers while you are a werewolf, and you can use your equipment. Your Battle Scars, Injuries, and physical Liabilities are carried over between forms. Reverting from your Alternate Form cannot cause your existing Injuries to kill you. Instead, you remain Incapacitated.
While transformed, your Brawn is increased by 1 and your Dexterity is increased by 1. You do not suffer any Stress while transformed.
Your alternate form is its own deadly weapon. Unarmed attacks made in your alternate form deal +3 Weapon Damage (instead of the typical -2).
Your alternate form renders you unable to speak any human language and incapable of fine object manipulation. You can only hold or grasp objects in a crude, clumsy way.
After this Effect ends, you cannot move quicker than a walk (15 feet per Round) for one minute and suffer a -1 dice penalty for an hour.
While transformed, you automatically fail any Mind roll to resist an impulse and suffer -3 dice on all other Mind rolls.
Possession of this Power grants the following Trauma at all times: Whenever you are struck by the light of a full or gibbous moon, you must roll Self-Control to resist transforming. Triggers a max of once per night.
The Witch wiggles her fingers at her broomstick, and it leaps from the ground with a whoosh of wind. She may then hop on and fly around. It’s so fun, she often finds herself cackling uncontrollably.
Flight is brief but quick, and she must return to the ground in one minute.
Exert your Mind and spend an Action. You must actively and obviously use a broom to activate this Effect. This Effect remains active for two hours.
As long as you are conscious, you are immune to falling Damage. Additionally, you may glide as you fall, traveling 35 feet horizontally for every 10 feet you fall. While gliding, you fall at a minimum speed of 10 feet per Round.
You may ascend into the air and fly using your mind. Your Free Movement is Mind x5 feet/Round, including vertically. You cannot Dash. When sprinting, roll Mind and add your rating in Mind plus 1 to the outcome, multiply by 5 to find your sprint speed. Your encumbrance limit is 10 lbs per point of Mind.
You are subject to the following effects while gliding or flying:
Any successful musician knows the value of a good roadie. The musician calls for a roadie, and one will promptly arrive. The roadie doesn't talk much, and they aren't too bright, but they can sure haul gear.
After a couple hours of work, the roadie will retire to smoke and get some sleep.
Exert your Mind and spend an Action.
Summon a single roadie at your location. They will last for two hours, or until they are destroyed. They are controlled by the GM but will follow any commands you give. You may have at most 1 minion active at a time.
You may only use this Effect once per day.
