Scaling Cards
Scaling cards is the art of throwing normal playing cards with such skill and precision that they slice vegetables or stick into walls. This one has learned to throw cards which are metal with auch finesse they are not dissimilar to shirikens.
Note that while all playing cards benefit from this gift, Bullet Parry requires the card to be reinforced in some way such as being made of metal to benefit from it.
You gain the following benefits as long as you are engaged in combat with Playing Cards.
+2 dice to all rolls utilizing Playing Cards.
You also gain the following effects:
- Bullet Parry: You may Defend against any attack in range of your attacks. Defending this way still costs a Reaction.
- Catcher In The Rye: You may catch anything flying or thrown as a Free Action with no roll, as long as it is not an attack.

Charlatans

Nowadays you can't go a day without some phony prophet trying to peddle their wares to you.
Driven by the increased interest in the supernatural, charlatans from palm readers to televangelists are everywhere. And while the vast majority of witches, psychics, magicians, hypnotists, cures, potions, faith healers, and clairvoyants are complete fakes, they do make a living.
As the saying goes, "it's easier for an actor to make it in alternative medicine than Hollywood."
Most people scoff at these clearly-phony supernatural services, yet those same people often buy into at least one scam.
The most dangerous charlatans are the self-styled monster hunters who carry a mall-ninja arsenal and guns with silver bullets. Most have never encountered anything supernatural and do absolutely nothing besides burn some sage and patrol the area for a night or two. Even so, those who are superstitious, fearful, or desperate enough will hire them to solve the problems they simply don't understand. In some cases with disastrous results.
For Contractors, charlatans are red herrings and obstacles. Clumsy fakes that conjure a smokescreen of misinformation and escalate the situations they're in.

Throwing Mastery Gifts
You gain the following benefits as long as you are engaged in combat with thrown weapons.
+2 dice to all rolls utilizing thrown weapons.
You also gain the following effects:
- Jackie Chan: You do not receive a Difficulty penalty when throwing objects that are not designed for throwing.
- Yeet!: You can throw things up to 100 extra feet per point of Brawn with no penalty. Anything thrown further than 100 feet will not land at its target until the next Round on your initiative.
Powerful Chucking
"Listen. As much as I wanna sugarcoat this, I'll just say that I did not ask for a good throwing arm. Band. Armband thing. Not complaining, though."
Quite simply, this bracer, when worn, adds a powerful throw to anyone. When throwing an object in your hand, the red gemstone embedded in the bracer glows brightly as a red aura outlines the thrown weapon. The thrown weapon itself is empowered for the throw only.
You gain the following benefits as long as you are wearing this Artifact and you are engaged in combat with thrown weapons.
Your attacks with thrown weapons no longer have their damage capped, and do +3 Bonus Damage. Armor is reduced to 1/2, rounded up against this damage.
- Reminder: Bonus Damage stacks with Weapon Damage, but does not stack with any other Bonus Damage. Instead, the highest Bonus Damage is used.
Expert thrower
Caspian’s use of his trident, the power from it bestowed upon him by the kraken and his own physical ability has improved his capabilities in terms of throwing (especially in combat).
You gain the following benefits as long as you are engaged in combat with thrown weapons.
+2 dice to all rolls utilizing thrown weapons.
You also gain the following effects:
- Bullet Parry: You may use a Reaction to Defend against any Melee, thrown, or projectile Attack in range of your Attacks.
- Pin Down: If you make a thrown attack with something sharp, and it hits a target near a wall or a floor, the projectile pierces through them, pinning them to the wall or floor. Unpinning oneself quickly will increase the relevant Injury’s Severity by 1.
- Track And Field: “If you move at least 25 feet in a straight line before making a thrown Attack in that direction its effective range is tripled, and you deal +1 Damage.
- Yeet!: You can throw things up to 100 extra feet per point of Brawn with no penalty. Anything thrown further than 100 feet will not land at its target until the next Round on your initiative.
Stunt Throw
Jenn taps into her training as a knife-thrower for a performance she did a long time ago, and the thing inside her runs with the idea.
You gain the following benefits as long as you are engaged in combat with throwing knives.
+2 dice to all rolls utilizing throwing knives.
You also gain the following effects:
- Boomerang: On your Initiative, in the Round following a thrown attack, the objects you threw will return back to you. You may catch them automatically, without making a roll or spending an Action.
- Bullet Parry: You may use a Reaction to Defend against any Melee, thrown, or projectile Attack in range of your Attacks.
- Finesse: When Attacking a single being, you may limit the Severity of any Injury you inflict or determine a maximum Wound Level, including Incapacitated. You may also choose to make this Injury properly or improperly stabilized, or to keep it unstabilized.
- Juggler: You may juggle a number of throwable objects equal to your Dexterity as a Free Action. When you make a thrown weapon attack, you may choose to roll or re-use the last thrown attack's Outcome. Resets at the start of Initiative.
Blade Storm
The wind gives my knives power. Each knife I throw moves forwards with unnatural speed, slicing the air so decisively it almost leaves a tray behind it
You gain the following benefits as long as you are engaged in combat with Throwing kunais.
+2 dice to all rolls utilizing Throwing kunais.
You also gain the following effects:
- Boomerang: On your Initiative, in the Round following a thrown attack, the objects you threw will return back to you. You may catch them automatically, without making a roll or spending an Action.
- Track And Field: If you move at least 25 feet in one direction before making a thrown attack, your throwing roll is made with +4 dice instead of the standard +2.

You also gain the following effects:
- Point Control: Called Shots that you attempt only require a Contested Outcome of 2 for small targets and 4 for tiny targets.
- Ricochet: You can make a thrown attack against a target behind cover so long as there is at least one exposed pathway to them.
