i always knew there was something my mother wasn't telling me about my father, other than that he's an abusive maniac.
but i have a feeling that this ability i have, this ability to get out of any tight squeeze is from him. that's what he was known for anyway, leaving without saying goodbye.
celia and I went to an old library and have been doing some in-depth research on conspiracies regarding people who just... disappear. Needless to say it was a mostly unsuccessful venture, except for one thing.
I found a journal from an old botanist who studied plants and their relationships to bugs, and he seemed to write about these species of very small people, who he called the faefolk. apparently these folk lived and pollinated like bees or butterflies, and hid within hollow trees or under mushrooms. when a faefolk is discovered by a human (supposedly a hard feat) the human is rewarded with either a beautiful gift or a dark curse, depending on how they were feeling that day.
Of course it sounds like bullshit, but it's the only thing i have right now to explain why this is happening to me.
my dad must've found one of these faefolk and been gifted, and he passed on this gift from me.
I don't know if I'm ready or if i'll ever be ready to use a power like this, but if i'm going to keep doing these contracts, it's gonna come in handy.
Exert your Mind and spend an Action.
Select a Location which is at most 60 feet away horizontally or 15 feet away vertically.
Roll a single D10 as a critical failure check. If you roll a 1, the Effect fails, and you Lights self on fire (2 per round). You must actively and obviously use Lighter to activate this Effect.
You jump to the chosen location. If jumping blind or landing precariously, must roll Dexterity + Athletics to land safely. You will never take fall Damage from successfully landing a jump made with this Effect.
Instead of physically passing through the air, you are teleported directly to your destination. Does not allow you to go through walls, cages, or grapples.
Extended System - If you are Encumbered, the maximum range is cut in half. If Encumbrance has reduced your total movement to 0, you cannot activate this Effect.
- vertical jump height measures to the bottom of your feet, so your total vertical reach is at least a body length greater.
- Rolls to land safely will generally be Athletics, but GMs may call for a different roll at their discretion if it makes sense for the specific circumstances.
- You must be on a surface of some kind in order to activate this Effect; it cannot be activated while in mid-air.
- You may only use this Effect once per Round of combat, regardless of any Enhancements you have taken.
- Your target must be within line of sight, or within range of another sense if more fitting for the Gift's flavor.

Spend an Action and Exert your Mind to jump to a Location within a maximum of [[jump-distance]].
Landing on horizontal surfaces is easy, but if the landing is precarious, you’ll need to make a Dexterity + Athletics roll to land/grab on safely. You can land safely when falling from twice your vertical height. After that amount, you take damage as normal.
If you are Encumbered, your range is halved. If you are too encumbered to walk, you cannot use this Ability.
Enhancements- Cantrip: Activating this Effect has no Exertion cost, but it can have no more than 3 Drawbacks and its Gift Cost can never be increased above 2.
- Too Slow!: You may activate this Effect as a Reaction.
- Short-Range Portal: Instead of leaping through the air, you are teleported directly to your destination. This does not allow you to travel through walls, cages, grapples, or similar.
Drawbacks- Focus: Using this Effect requires a specific kind of item.
- No Landing Gear: You can only land safely when falling from a max distance of your vertical height. If you fail your leap, you have no protection from fall damage.
- Critical Failure: Roll a single D10 when you activate this Effect. If you roll a 1, you critically fail in a way that is extraordinarily dangerous. Failure should cause at least a Severity-4 Injury, a Major Battle Scar, or an effect counter to its purpose.
- Critical Failure effect: Lights self on fire (2 per round)
