Legacy Power: Distant Activation Paralysis Infliction Device (DAPID)

A ring that shuts down a target's muscles for a short period of time.

A 1 Gift Restrict Power used by Maximilian Calcolo, created by trollgorilla.

Description

A ring inscribed with an image of chains, a hidden control on the underside of the ring will imbue the wearers hands with a burst of energy. This energy can be released with the snap of a finger and concentrated on a living creature. The energy that is released temporarily shuts down the movement of the creature's muscles. This effect is effectively temporary paralysis.

System

Spend an Action, Exert your Mind, and roll Intellect + Science Difficulty 6 to Restrict a target within 20 feet. The target may contest this by rolling Mind, Difficulty 6 as a Free Action. Success fixes the target in place at their location, although they still can move their arms, use Powers, etc.

The target may attempt to break free by making an attack against their bonds at +1 difficulty. Breaking the binding requires an amount of damage equal to double the initial Outcome. Damage from multiple attacks is cumulative and stacks linearly. Other individuals may also damage the binding by attacking it at +1 difficulty.

Enhancements

  • Ethereal Chains (The binding affects intangible targets like ghosts and can no longer be attacked physically. Instead, a restricted target may roll Mind at Difficulty 7 to attempt to escape the binding.)

Drawbacks

  • Focus (Using this Effect requires a specific kind of item.)
    • Object - Ring
  • Unique Focus (This Power takes the form of a specific, unique item, which can be borrowed, lost, or stolen. You must use / wear this item as intended to use this Power.)
    • Focus - DAPID Ring

Parameters

Range: 1 ( 20 feet )
