Mrs. Ross has a gift. One that has been built over a good many years. First they started as whispers in her dreamscape, moans that clouded her mind like a fog in the late evening hours. She doesn't quite remember how it happened, the moment was vague. She heard a lamenting echo from a body in a casket, a relative who must've just died. Though she cannot speak, The Voice in her head certainly can, and she tried to reach out to the whispers like she never could anyone else. To her immense surprise, the urn responded, a cavalcade of emotions from the recently deceased.
When Ripley Ross focuses on the body of the recently deceased, she is able to open a line of communication with the entity. The event is extremely distracting, as opening this line of communication beyond the veil invites the whispers of all manners of entity.
Exert your Mind and spend an Action to activate. Select a Dead target within arm's reach. In order to target the Dead, you must have a piece of their remains.
The target can communicate in your language for the next ten minutes.
This Effect is not obvious, and the only sign you are using an Effect is that your eyes shimmer a faint purple. If someone suspects that an Effect was used, they must roll Perception + Alertness, Difficulty 8 to pick up on your Tell.
While this Effect is active, you are at -2 dice to all Actions and cannot Concentrate.
You may only use this Effect once per target per day.
- You can target yourself if you qualify as a valid target by the other requirements.

Charlatans

Nowadays you can't go a day without some phony prophet trying to peddle their wares to you.
Driven by the increased interest in the supernatural, charlatans from palm readers to televangelists are everywhere. And while the vast majority of witches, psychics, magicians, hypnotists, cures, potions, faith healers, and clairvoyants are complete fakes, they do make a living.
As the saying goes, "it's easier for an actor to make it in alternative medicine than Hollywood."
Most people scoff at these clearly-phony supernatural services, yet those same people often buy into at least one scam.
The most dangerous charlatans are the self-styled monster hunters who carry a mall-ninja arsenal and guns with silver bullets. Most have never encountered anything supernatural and do absolutely nothing besides burn some sage and patrol the area for a night or two. Even so, those who are superstitious, fearful, or desperate enough will hire them to solve the problems they simply don't understand. In some cases with disastrous results.
For Contractors, charlatans are red herrings and obstacles. Clumsy fakes that conjure a smokescreen of misinformation and escalate the situations they're in.

Charlie invokes the secret language of the beast, and uses a combination of audible sounds, sub-sonic communication and body language to communicate unto a creature how it would with another of its species.
Due to spiraling mutations and the recent information that had come to light about the actions of Genwyld, Charlie had stopped taking her pills that were supplied after every contract. And yet, when this almost drove her to retirement, someone happened that nobody expected. Voices from the trees, the birdsong itself was made language to her, as vulgar as they were. The animal sounds made while fully transformed? Those were understandable as well. Every noise by every beast were now a language she could hear if she took the time to listen.

- The target of "human" refers to any target that speaks a human language.

Nikki's plays a sad song that evokes feelings of loss and longing as his mind slides back from the Fleshlands into his native Shadowlands. He follows the connection the dead left to it's physical remains in the world and engages the consciousness in conversation.

The target can communicate in your language for the next hour.
- You can target yourself if you qualify as a valid target by the other requirements.
- Your target must be within line of sight, or within range of another sense if more fitting for the Gift's flavor.
Artist's Interpretation
Many things can be left up to interpretation, this is just how I see it.
Yvonnel using her artist's intuition can supernaturally understand the meaning or message of any writing, painting, or anything that may be considered art/artful. If one were to look at her eyes while she's doing this, they'd notice that they've gone from bright amber to glowing yellow with slitted pupils.
You gain the following benefits at all times. You must actively and obviously be using Yvonnels Journal to gain the benefits of this Effect.
You may understand and communicate to as if you are fluent in a relevant language.
This also includes understanding any recorded communications from the relevant targets, including writings, scent trails, etc.
- When reading written communications, you get no information beyond what the writer was intending to communicate.
Reflection's Instinct
Whilst corresponding to the target, should they be beastly, communicating through something instinctual, Nathan can tap into that innate language through the target's reflection to both receive and give information.
You gain the following benefits as long as you are communicating to them with Send Message.
You may understand and communicate to Creatures as if you are fluent in a relevant language.
- Communing with creatures does not grant them intellect but does allow you to converse with them.

Death Speak
They want to speak, but their mouths are too dry.
The Necromancer spits into the mouth of a recently deceased corpse. For the few minutes, the corpse's head comes back to life and speaks to the Necromancer.
Exert your Mind and spend an Action. Select a Dead target within 50 feet. Dead targets must have died within the past week, and you must have their remains in your possession.
The target can communicate in your language for the next hour.
- You can target yourself if you qualify as a valid target by the other requirements.
- Your target must be within line of sight, or within range of another sense if more fitting for the Gift's flavor.
