A ritual that involves transposing a part of the owner's soul into the item, such that it always finds its way back to them.
The ritual is done by using the owner's blood to write sigils on and around the item, while chanting a phrase in Latin. Upon completion of the ritual, the owner feels more tired than normal, and wants to sleep with the artifact nearby. If the owner doesn't, they don't feel as if they've truly rested.

A little metal plate with the true owner's first name, middle initial, and last name engraved on it and riveted to the claimed item. Whatever it is attached to becomes so prized to the owner they can hardly sleep without it, and they hear it constantly whispering to them.
The whispers rise and lower in volume with surroundings, making it harder to distinguish noise in high volume situations, but quieting when things are calm.
When it is away from them and someone uses the item it's attached to the owner's eyes turn completely white for a moment as they see the thief. With a simple prayer to Jehovah-1, a warbling, glowing white portal appears, just large enough to pull the item through after a moment. It vanishes once the item is retrieved.
