After putting in extra study within marine biology, Eric has taken on more of a "mad scientist" outlook on it. With some experimentation on only himself, because he wouldn't dare bring his pet Terry nor any animal to harm, he was able to develop an innate method of altering his biology with a more aquatic physique-- one that allows him to shapeshift and do many new things. He can grow gills to breathe underwater, sprout the shells of a crab across his body to protect himself, or all manner of possible things when it comes to the animals that live under the sea.
Of course, it not only takes some time to create the change, but it also wears off after about a month passes. However, at will, Eric is capable of simply "turning it off" and reverting the changes before the time passes.
Exert your Mind and spend 30 minutes to activate. You may only target yourself. The target can easily Resist.
You may add one augmentation to your target. Each augmentation counts as a Battle Scar and can have exactly one of the following Effects:
You may cure any Battle Scars you have created with this Effect with a Free Action on your initiative. They are healed over the course of the next hour.
Your alteration "heals" over the course of the next month, after which it is fully cured.
Lines of a magnetic ferro-fluid flow from underneath the steel bracelet, forming a Henna pattern on the desired surface. This effect cannot be employed unless "unlocked" by the activation of an Inderpal Close Protection Contract. When activated, the R.I.S.H.I. will release ferro fluid markings that will form a lotus pattern on either the wielder or the target.
To count as "Under Contract" the target must have an active Binding Oath negotiating a Close Protection Contract with Inderpal & the target must either a) be in close enough proximity for those services to be rendered or b) Inderpal must be attempting to regain such proximity at all costs.
Exert your Mind and spend an Action. Select a Location within 10 feet. This Effect cannot be used unless under a Close Protection Contract.
You place a ward, which is fixed to its initial location. You can hear and see through the ward as though you were standing at its location. This Artifact may have at most 3 wards active at once.
The ward requires Concentration to monitor, though it will remain active until you deactivate it. It can be detected with a roll and destroyed through mundane means.
You may declare a condition to watch for on an active Ward. If it occurs, you may roll Perception + Alertness, Difficulty 6, to notice it, even if you are not actively monitoring that ward.
Your Ward records all activity it observes, regardless of whether or not you are actively monitoring it. This recording can be played back and referenced later.
You may communicate through your ward, though doing so will reveal its presence.
When used, the rock starts heating up to a firm 40 degrees Celsius, the previously mundane slate blue matrix of the rock now glistens with a glassy texture and a pale blue pigment. A human eye rests within the glassy crystal, staring at the target.
When used, the little magic eye within the rock fires a laser at the target(s), provoking the distortion of the target's form.
The user must be holding the rock and pointing it towards the target(s) to activate it.
Spend an Action. Select a Living target within 45 feet. Roll Dexterity + Occult at Difficulty 6. The target may roll Body, -2 dice at Difficulty 7, as a Free Action to resist.
If you succeed, the target receives a new Battle Scar of your choosing, limited by the contested Outcome:
You may affect up to 3 targets within range.
If two or more of your targets are touching and more than one fails to resist, you may conjoin them where they touch. This counts as a shared Battle Scar.
This Gift cannot have more than 3 Drawbacks, and its Gift Cost is capped at 1.
Your alteration "heals" over the course of the next month, after which it is fully cured.
Leon enhances his illusions with a few somber-plucked strings, energy flowing from the instrument in question as, for a moment, you can see the moon in the object's reflection. As he does so, the moon's reflection shifts from brilliant white to impossible pink; it bathes them in the magenta light that has come to him in his dreams. The morning of the hateful sun wreaths the object in question, and like a vacuum of sensation and knowledge it draws viewers in. An iota of the genuine unknown as what was is changed and twisted. The dark hunger of curiosity draws the viewer in: what is this, who is this, why is it? The pain of never knowing compels the onlooker to pursue, to ask after more, and to see to the exclusion of all else as their mind is trapped by the curse that comes with this enchantment. They have to know, and even those things with only the barest semblances of consciousness are introduced to this pain, though they cannot satiate it, doomed to pursue forever this new feeling that without the light of the moon, they will never know again.
Spend an Action. Select a Animate target within 1000 feet who can perceive you through. This Effect cannot be used unless An illusion is within cast range and in line of sight of both you and the target. You must actively and obviously use A musical instrument to activate this Effect. Roll Charisma + Performance at Difficulty 6. The target may resist by rolling Mind at Difficulty 7.
If you succeed, the target will keep their full attention focused on you for as long as you maintain Concentration. They will automatically fail any rolls related to noticing anything other than you.
If you pass from their perception and they are unable to pursue you, the Effect ends. If they can follow you, they must do so for 2 Rounds or the Effect will end. The Effect ends early if the target is Injured or violence occurs nearby.
This does not affect the target’s opinion of you or their mood, and they may take any Actions while affected (including attacking), as long as that action centers on you. Fascinated targets cannot Concentrate.
You may activate this Effect as a Reaction to contest any Action a valid target is taking. The target does not roll to resist, and beating their Outcome does not fascinate them. This interrupts Concentration.
This Gift cannot have more than 3 Drawbacks, and its Gift Cost is capped at 2.
When used, the rock starts heating up to a firm 40 degrees Celsius, the previously mundane slate blue matrix of the rock now glistens with a glassy texture and a sickly purple pigment. A human eye rests within the glassy crystal, staring at the target.
Then, the little magic eye within the rock fires a teeny laser at the target, afflicting the target with the sickness.
The user must be holding the rock and pointing it towards the target(s) to activate it.
The target will be affected with consistent coughing, sneezing and a noticeable shaking from the afflicted fatigue. The target's eyes will consistently tear up whilst afflicted.
Any Ailments related to suppressing the immune response or protecting lung diseases will calm the illness down and cure it.
Exert your Mind and spend an Action. Select a Living target within 25 feet. Roll Dexterity + Occult at Difficulty 6. Your target may resist by rolling Body at Difficulty 8.
If you succeed, the target is afflicted with a Condition that causes any number of the following symptoms:
The affliction can be diagnosed with a Medicine roll, and may be cured by modern medicine through treatment at a fully equipped facility. Treatment outside of a facility may stop the affliction from worsening for a day, but will not cure the underlying Condition.
Carver, with an air of professionalism, listens to her patient speak of their past experiences, and how they affect them in the day to day.
All Carver does is remove the compulsions left by traumatic experiences, allowing her patient control over themselves while tackling their traumas. They'll remember what happened to them, but it will no longer spark the same trauma response.
As long as the mind isn't traumatized *again* shortly afterwards. Otherwise the old connections resurface and it's back to square one, with extra baggage this time around.
All of this works on inhuman, even unliving physiology thanks to Carver's familiarity with the not-quite-human people around her. As long as they have a sentient mind capable of being traumatized, her powers allow her to detangle them.
Exert your Mind to activate. Select a Living or Animate target within arm's reach. Over the course of one day, your patient must communicate with you and reveal at least one of their Traumas to you, including the details of those Traumas and the circumstances of how they were acquired. After the full treatment time has elapsed, roll Charisma + Medicine at Difficulty 6.
Your target may Resist. If your treatment is successful, you may remove one of the patient's revealed Traumas without incurring any Experience cost.
Your patient is required to not fail a limit check for the next month. If they violate this rule, your treatment is immediately reversed.
The psychic can glean various important details about a person simply by engaging in a short conversation with them.
Spend one minute. Select a Sapient target within 20 feet. You must actively converse with the individual in question for one minute in order to gather any information. At the end of your investigation, roll Perception + Influence at Difficulty 6.
You learn all the following information about your target:
The quality and specificity of information gained depends on your Outcome.
Any information you gather is spoken aloud in conversation and made publicly available.
This Gift cannot have more than 3 Drawbacks, and its Gift Cost is capped at 2.
You cannot investigate the same target more than once per day.
Come one, come all! Stand in amazement and behold as the Fire Eater consumes a flame as if it were cotton candy! Gasp with fright as they breathe a plume of fire a great distance! And yes, ladies and gentlemen, it is quite dangerous.
Exert your Mind (unless you win a coin flip) and spend two Actions performing the following ritual: perform a fire-breathing trick. Select a target within 20 feet which has both fuel and oxygen available (if you are starting a new fire). Roll a single D10 as a critical failure check. If you roll a 1, the Effect fails, and you take a Severity-4 Injury as the fire burns your throat. You must maintain Concentration while activating this Effect, and it fails if you are interrupted.
You may start or extinguish a fire as large as a firepit's fire at your target. Extinguishing a fire does not cost Exertion. You may create or extinguish fires the size of a lighter or candle flame without Exerting your Mind. Your fires require fuel and oxygen in order to continue burning.
Lighting a target on fire deals 4 Damage each Round on your turn, starting in the Round after the one in which they caught fire. This Damage is reduced by Armor, but the target’s Armor rating will be shredded by any Damage dealt, destroying material Armor once it reaches 0.
You may extinguish flames as a Reaction. This does not extend to explosives.
The detective can learn a lot by watching someone for a minute. Each subtle detail, every unexplained stain, reveals something about where the target has been. Ocassionally, they'll drop a business card, or explain how to contact them. The detective is listening.
Exert your Mind (unless you win a coin flip) and spend a minute. Select a Sapient target within 20 feet. This Effect cannot be used unless the target does not know you're watching them. At the end of your investigation, roll Charisma + Investigation at Difficulty 6.
You learn a single specific piece of information, chosen from the following list, about your target:
The quality and specificity of information gained depends on your Outcome.
You cannot investigate the same target more than once per day.
The mobster presents a reasoned, logical case to the target: there's a lot of dangerous folks out there, and only they can offer safety... for a price.
If they agree, they will pay the mobster a monthly fee for protection. If they stop making their payments... well, let's just say, the mobster can't be held responsible for any unsavory types that might pay them a visit.
This Effect cannot be used unless you are making a deal to exchange money for protection.
You may make an oath with a physically-present, Sapient target. Communicate the oath's terms to the target, including the requirements and penalties for each participant. If all agree to the terms, you must Exert your Mind and all participants must shake hands to seal the deal.
Record the oath as a Condition. If a party breaks the oath, the Condition ends and they suffer the oath's penalty.
When crafting your oath, you may incorporate any of the following penalties:
The target cannot be compelled to agree via a direct threat of violence, another Effect, or another oath. If you would like to use clever wording to mislead the target, you must succeed a contested Intellect + (Culture or Influence) roll.
The Scepter of Ang-Kapal is a gruesome device fashioned to look like a skeletal arm clutching a glass eye. When used, blood from the person holding is drawn into the eye where it swirls with dark energy. The eye turns to a nearby corpse and shudders, reviving the creature. The creature does not retain any of its memories or personality, but it is absolutely loyal to whoever is holding the scepter.
The Scepter of Ang Kepal has the unfortunate side effect of driving its owner mad.
Increase your sacrificial Injury's Severity by 1 and spend one minute. Select a Dead target within arm's reach with at least half its skeletal structure remaining. You must make a Trauma roll when you use this Effect. Its Difficulty cannot be reduced by any means. If you fail or Botch, you receive one Mind Damage and a new Trauma.
Your target rises as an Animate being. The raised creature is totally mindless, with no memory of its past life or hint of its old personality. They cannot communicate. They will follow any command you speak.
The creature lasts for eight hours or until it dies again. It is revived at full health. Any Injuries it had in life are not accounted for when determining its penalties or progression towards re-death, though they may affect its ability to perform certain actions at GM's discretion.
Raised creatures have their Abilities set to the same that they were in life. Their Charisma and Intellect are set to 1, but their Dexterity, Brawn and Perception are the same as they had in life. A raised creature cannot use any Effects.
Destroying one of your zombies requires a called shot to the head or heart. All other Injuries zombies suffer result in Battle Scars only, limiting their mobility and effectiveness in other ways.
Your revived targets deal 2 Weapon Damage with their unarmed attacks.
If you do not have a sacrificial Injury when you activate this Effect, take a new Severity-1 Injury.
