Open up a musky tome. Its pages flutter as it turns to a page it did not previously have: a description about the object right in front of you! The book will answer your questions about where the object was made, who by, and how it is used.
Exert your Mind and spend a minute. Select a target Object within arm's reach. You must actively and obviously use An old musty tome to activate this Effect. At the end of your investigation, roll Intellect + Occult at Difficulty 6.
You learn all the following information about your target:
The air seems to chill around you as you absorb energy from the surrounding area, channeling it in your vocal chords. Releasing the bolt of crackling blue energy with a meaningless phrase, your opponent crumples harmlessly to the ground as your sheer force of will overrides theirs.
Exert your Mind and spend an Action. Select a Sapient target within 20 feet. Roll Charisma + Influence Difficulty 6. Affected targets may resist by rolling Mind at Difficulty 7. If they are incapacitated or unconscious, they fail automatically.
If the Contested Outcome is positive, the target loses that much Source. Once their Source is depleted, excess Outcome is applied as Mind Damage. If you deal at least 3 Mind damage, the target gains a Trauma of the GM's choice.
This Trauma may be removed by Effects or mundane therapy, as normal. Affected targets are aware that they are being attacked and can generally tell who did it.
Murphy holds their musical instrument close as their eyes soften. They weave together a sweet melody, a tug on the heartstrings, as the target is suddenly overcome with intense emotion. The target starts to see things more clearly, that perhaps violence was never the answer. However, the experience might be... somewhat stressful for those who don't see things the same way.
Exert your Mind and spend an Action. Select a Sapient target within 20 feet. You must actively and obviously use a musical instrument to activate this Effect. Roll Charisma + Performance at Difficulty 6. Affected targets may resist by rolling Mind at Difficulty 8 with a -3 dice penalty. If they are incapacitated or unconscious, they fail automatically and their Outcome is 0.
If the Contested Outcome is positive, the target takes Mind damage equal to the Contested Outcome. If you deal at least 3 Mind damage, the target will gain Soft-Hearted: Fear of Causing Pain as a Trauma. This Trauma may be removed by Effects or mundane therapy, as normal. Affected targets are aware that they are being attacked and can generally tell who did it.
A golden Lotus pattern begins revolving in Amarjeet's eyes. After the Hack is completed, an identical pattern will be displayed somewhere on the UI of the affected device.
The Lotus III implant has been upgraded. Sophisticated decryption & code-breaking software is pre-loaded into the implant, optimized to synchronize with the end-user's conscious attempts to crack security systems. Capable of defeating the most sophisticated systems in moments, use of this feature causes the user's eyes to display the familiar Lotus Logo as a revolving pattern on the iris. Additionally, in what we consider to be a win for our marketing team, any device compromised by our software will display our Lotus Logo in system - all the better to alert potential clients of system vulnerabilities.
Operating the system linkage on a regular basis has been proven to damage the optic nerves: always use caution when operating prototype cybernetics.
Exert your Mind and spend 1 Action. Select a Computer within 300 feet. Can be used on Alien technology. Roll a single D10 as a critical failure check. If you roll a 1, the Effect fails, and you go Blind. Roll Perception + Technology, with the Difficulty set by the GM depending on the security of the system you are hacking. Sapient targets can resist by rolling Mind at Difficulty 6.
If you succeed, you may issue a single command to the targeted system. This command must have a specific outcome or be a request for specific login credentials. The command you issue must be within the machine's current capabilities. For example, you cannot order a standard security camera to grow legs and walk around.
If your command does not require bypassing the security of the target (for example, typing on a computer that is unlocked), you do not need to Exert your Mind to activate this Effect, and activation only takes a single Action.
Your Hack cannot be reversed through mundane means for a number of hours equal to your Outcome.
Every hack you make leaves behind Lotus Logo in the system as a personal "calling card" that informs anyone who uses the system that the hack occurred.
The scar alights with with vibrant energy upon touch and undoes itself. The user must identify what the scar is and have the knowledge to utilize "Wisdom's Embrace" to its full effect.
Another facet of "Wisdom's Embrace" is the ability to mend scars and deformities along the body. By having the user focus on the nature of those scars, they may unravel and reform them into normal wounds that will heal naturally. This impartation of knowledge onto the patients body helps it recovery normally instead of scarring the body due to lack of response by the patient's natural healing abilities.
Exert your Mind and spend a minute. Select a Living or Animate target within arm's reach. You must actively and obviously use a stethoscope to activate this Effect. Select up to four Battle Scars on your target to treat.
The treated Battle Scars heals as you finish activating this Effect. If used on a Battle Scar caused by an Unstabilized Injury, that Injury is Stabilized.
You cannot re-attempt to treat the same Battle Scar more than once a month. Your patient is required to not expose themself to an environment with tempatures greater than 80 degrees. for the next month. If they violate this rule, your treatment is immediately reversed.
You may choose to spend an Action activating this Effect instead of the normal cast time. If you do, the Battle Scar only remains healed for one day, after which it reverts to its original state.
Possession of this Power grants the following Battle Scar: Atrophied Legs.
the ring is slipped on the finger of the target searing their finger and dissipating the current host of Item ***-A
Exert your Mind and spend an Action to activate. Select a Creature target within arm's reach.
You possess your target and have control over their actions for the next three hours. You do not leave your original body behind when you possess a target. When a possession ends, your original body will reappear at the host body’s same location. You may spend a Committed Action to end the possession early.
Stats: Any actions you take will use the possessed creature’s Brawn, Dexterity, and Perception, but use your own Charisma, Intellect, and Abilities.
Gifts: You do not have access to any Gifts while you are possessing your target.
Death: If the host takes damage, or is destroyed or incapacitated in some way, you are evicted back into your own body.
Eviction: You cannot force your host to take actions which would violate their instinct for self-preservation (which includes engaging in Combat for any purpose other than self-defense or natural hunting); any attempt to do so will sever the connection and send you back into your own body. If you are forced out of the target's body prematurely, you must make a Trauma roll.
The doctor is a master at surgical transplantation. As long as they have a donor part, they can replace any permanent, lingering battle scars on their patient. Of course, the transplanted part doesn't always match, and the patient must be careful to follow the doctor's aftercare orders, or the replacement will be rejected.
Exert your Mind and spend a minute. Select a Living target within arm's reach. You must use up a donor body part matching the injured area in order to activate this Effect. Select a Battle Scar on your target to treat.
The treated Battle Scar heals as you finish activating this Effect. If used on a Battle Scar caused by an Unstabilized Injury, that Injury is Stabilized.
You may specify a specific condition that the patient must adhere to. If they break this condition, the treatment is immediately reversed. Record this regimen as a Condition. Lasts until the end of their next Contract or 1 month for non-Contractors.
Healing a Battle Scar in this way leaves behind a mismatched replacement on the target which cannot be healed.
The mutant now occasionally lays large, orange-speckled eggs. These Eggs do not hatch nor spoil. If cracked and applied to a chronic injury such as a missing limb, the scar heals completely within the hour. However, any area healed by the egg will forever carry an inhuman appearance as testament to the bizarre method of treatment.
Spend a minute and use up this unusually large egg (unless you succeed on 1d10, Difficulty 7). Select a Living target within arm's reach. Select a Battle Scar on your target to treat.
The treated Battle Scar heals as you finish activating this Effect. If used on a Battle Scar caused by an Unstabilized Injury, that Injury is Stabilized.
Healing a Battle Scar in this way leaves behind an inhuman attribute such as fur, scales, or feathers on the target which cannot be healed.
The Future Soldier learned to create foam grenades in their own time period, and they still can, kinda. They look like glowing orange capsules with a rugged rubberized grip. When thrown, they burst into a splash of expanding neon orange foam. The foam hardens in seconds, severely hampering the movement of anyone unlucky enough to have been splashed. Those affected may use their hands or weapons to hack away at the foam and free themselves.
Occasionally, the fuses on these bootleg grenades fails, and they go off immediately.
Spend an Action and use up this small metallic grenade with pin (unless you succeed on 1d10, Difficulty 7). Make a thrown Attack at a Location within normal Attack range. Roll a single D10 as a critical failure check. If you roll a 1, the Effect fails, and you are hit as it activates immediately at your present location. The target may roll to dodge or Defend, as normal for thrown Attacks. The Attack itself does not deal any Damage beyond the Effect.
If you succeed, all affected targets will be restricted at their location by a physical, tangible binding. They can still move their arms and use Effects, but are reduced to ¼ of their movement speed.
The binding around a target must be destroyed in order for them to break free. Breaking the binding requires a total amount of Damage equal to twice the original Contested Outcome. Damage from multiple attacks is cumulative and stacks linearly.
The creature's claws rip through the poor, defenseless doctor's coat, opening deep gashes in their gut. It bares its fangs to lunge for the killing blow, but the doctor looks up at the attacker. Their eyes filed not with utter terror at their imminent demise, only a look of disappointment and pity. Touched, the monster hesitates. . .
This Effect activates whenever you receive a Severity 2 or higher Injury from an attack. It does not require an Action or Exertion. Select a Living target within 45 feet. Your target should be intuitively based on the triggering event. Roll Charisma + Influence at Difficulty 6. Affected targets can resist by rolling Mind at Difficulty 6.
If you succeed, for the next minute, your target will do things they otherwise wouldn’t have done, inspired by remorse for hurting such a pure soul. They will not necessarily display their emotions in an obvious way.
Actions they take will be in keeping with their character and the way they tend to deal with strong emotions. They will be unlikely to change their mind about any actions taken or decisions made until after the Effect ends.
The Skeleton Key slips easily into any keyhole and turns without a fuss.
Spend an Action.
You may lock, unlock, and/or open any number of doors, containers, knots, or locks within arm's reach of you. Cannot be used on Alien technology.
If you successfully operate a lock, you may choose to destroy it, rendering it inoperable.
