(During Effect activation, you are obviously examining the target object. )

The Thief examines an object closely for a minute to appraise its value. As their eyes dance across the subject, their pupils split vertically, and their irises fade to gold. If it is a particularly valuable item, the Thief may greedily lick their lips, revealing a forked tongue.

Within a minute, they have determined how materially valuable the object is and why.

Exert your Mind and spend a minute. Select a target Object within arm's reach. At the end of your investigation, roll Intellect + Thievery at Difficulty 6.

You learn all the following information about your target:

  • Determine if this target is Alien in origin or whether it has any Alien energy or outside influences. You receive information about the type of energy, including the name of the relevant Source pool or equivalent. You determine the effect of any active Alien energy detected, and you get an idea as to the sorts of ways that latent Alien energy may be channeled by the target.
  • You learn the object's highest material value and why it is worth so much and who would purchase the object no questions asked for the highest price.
The quality and specificity of information gained depends on your Outcome.

Possession of this Power grants the following Trauma at all times: It's All Mine Roll self control to not attempt to automatically steal whatever this is used on.

Spend 2 Actions. Select a target Object within arm's reach. You must actively and obviously use Polaroid Camera to activate this Effect. You must make a Trauma roll when you use this Effect. Its Difficulty cannot be reduced by any means. If you fail or Botch, you receive one Mind Damage and a new Trauma. At the end of your investigation, roll Brawn + Alertness at Difficulty 6.

You learn all the following information about your target:

  • Determine if this target is Alien in origin or whether it has any Alien energy or outside influences. You receive information about the type of energy, including the name of the relevant Source pool or equivalent.
  • You gather information about where the object was made and when.
The quality and specificity of information gained depends on your Outcome.

This Gift cannot have more than 3 Drawbacks, and its Gift Cost is capped at 2.

David has walked through the Realms of Death many times, and spoken with many of the dead. Shades are starting to be drawn to him. Where another medium would be ignored by the dead, David’s rituals draw attention, even when they are done with such non-potent materials as commonplace Ouji boards. Unlike Blavatsky, whose earlier teachings inspire him, David does claim to speak with the dead, rather than other entities (Blavatsky was notably strange for her time for claiming that unlike other mediums the intelligences she consulted with were things other than ghosts).

This Effect is obviously Alien and eye-catching across its range to those witnessing it, and you are obviously the source.

You cannot investigate the same target more than once per day.

  • You can target yourself if you qualify as a valid target by the other requirements.

  • You may learn how much sentimental value an object has and to whom.
