Nature's Beast The all natural creature

2
The power to transform into a non-humanoid creature.
Used by Lavender, Created by katiniki.
(Your transition from one form to the next is obvious to all observers. You must actively and obviously be using up A handful of seeds.)

Lavender holds out seeds and throws them to the ground. As they slowly dissolve into the Earth below them, they transform into _______ with cracking and shaping bones and flesh.

Exert your Mind and spend one minute. You must use up A handful of seeds in order to activate this Effect.

You transform into Native creature or any region-appropriate medium-sized animal until you transform into something else or choose to return to your original form. See the Extended System text for stats.

While transformed, you cannot use any equipment (including Artifacts and Consumables), and you cannot use your Active, Direct, or Trap Powers. However, you can use your Passive Powers. Any equipment you are wearing transforms with you.

Injuries and Wound Level are carried over between forms. However, transforming can never kill you; you merely remain Incapacitated until your Injuries are sufficiently healed.

  • Creature Stats
    • Medium (large house cat up to human) Body 3. Brawn 1. Dexterity 3. Fall damage reduced by 1.
All creatures get +3 dice to any non-combat Action that they are naturally adapted for. All creatures Medium and larger may attack by rolling Body, dealing +0 Damage (+1 for “predators”). Gms and Playgroup leaders can apply other bonuses and effects to specific animals.
  • Animals that are quicker than humans (like dogs) have 50 feet of Free Movement. Animals that are very slow (like turtles) have 0 feet of Free Movement.
  • You cannot transform if there is not enough room to do so.

We were on a routine inspection. A domestic violence case. The neighbors called because of screaming. The Armstrong family has been on our rather for a couple of weeks now. A father, a mother and a 4 year old daughter.

We went over there, not for the first time and definitely not the last. At least that’s what we thought. We arrived and the door was open. Dexter told me before we went in:”I have your back, if you have mine”. I nodded and opened the door. We went inside with our guns raised, announcing our presence. I glanced to the left towards the direction of the toilet.

Dexter was covering me, looking into the direction of the living room. As I looked for any sign of life I heard the cocking of a shotgun from behind me.

It all went so fast after that. I heard Dexter shout something as he tackled me to the side. His shouting was interrupt by the sound of the double barrel shotgun going off. I felt a sharp pain go through my left hand as a couple of my fingers got shot off, by the same bullets that ripped a hole through dexters chest. As I fell to the ground, I took my pistol and shot James Armstrong three times in the chest while he was reloading.

I was in agony. I ripped off a part of my shirt and I wrapped it around my fingers. I rushed over to Dexter, his white shirt was stained by his blood. He was chocking on the blood entering his lunges, I could only comfort him in my arms as I felt his life drain out of him.
My partner, the man who had my back for years, the first man who I ever loved dying in my arms. With me not being able to do anything about it.

Exert your Mind and spend an Action.

You have a sense of how many valid targets are nearby and their direction, and you have a clear sense of both the distance and direction towards any detected beings. This information is accurate enough to use for aiming at them, at +1 Difficulty.

Instead, you remain Incapacitated.

While transformed, your Brawn is increased by 1, your Dexterity is increased by 1, your Perception is increased by 1, your Charisma is increased by 1, and your Intellect is increased by 1. You do not suffer any Stress while transformed.

After this Effect ends, you cannot move quicker than a walk (15 feet per Round) for one minute and suffer a -1 dice penalty for an hour.

You may only use this Effect once per day.

Your alternate form renders you unable to speak any human language and incapable of fine object manipulation. You can only hold or grasp objects in a crude, clumsy way.

While transformed, you automatically fail any Mind roll to resist an impulse and suffer -3 dice on all other Mind rolls.

  • When narrating disturbing content, be cognizant of your group's tone and accommodating to those who would like to "fast forward" through the description.
  • Attribute bonuses from multiple sources do not stack. Instead the highest bonus is used.

These cookies do have a taste- it simply happens to be... nothing. The absence of intensity. It is a cultivated emptiness, like the negative space in a painting- deliberate, guiding the mind and senses to the things all around the cookie. They are bland, mildly pleasant in no identifiable way. Additionally, they do not trigger any known allergies or food sensitivities- whatever they are, they're gluten free and hypoallergenic.

Use up this snack and spend an Action to activate.

Your senses are enhanced in the following way. Lasts for three hours.

  • Smell: Your nose is highly sensitive and can differentiate between scents the way a dog can, as well as recognize things you have smelled before.
  • Taste: You can recognize any flavor you have previously tasted and name it, and may determine the composition of something based on its taste.

Any senses which have been heightened cannot be overloaded. Battle Scars you receive cannot affect these senses.

  • Examples of overloading a sense include: an explosion causing temporary deafness, a bright light causing blindness, a sedative causing numbness, etc.
  • This consumable is destroyed when used and cannot be used again.

Expend a point of Battery and spend an Action or Reaction.

You phase out of reality for up to 4 Rounds. During this time, you cannot perceive or affect the outside world or take any Actions. You cannot move. Nothing can interact with you in any way.

When you activate this Effect, you may limit its duration to a period of your choosing. If you are able, you may also end it as a Free Action on your initiative.

You leave a golden glow shaped like yourself at your location.

  • If you use this Effect to dodge as a Reaction, it succeeds without the need for a roll. Cannot be used as a Desperate Defense.
  • You may use your Free Movement on the Round you phase back in, but you cannot take an Action.

Exert your Mind and spend an Action. You must actively and obviously use a watch or clock to activate this Effect.

Lasts 1 minute. Whenever you use your Movement, after all other calculations, the distance you may travel is doubled.

Outside of Combat, any non-Gift, non-movement Actions you attempt take drastically less time to complete, as long as your personal speed is a factor in the Action. Total time reduction is determined by the GM and capped at 90% (executing the Action takes no less than 1/10th the normal time).

While using this Effect, you may carry one other being without affecting your Encumbrance, so long as you maintain contact with them for the duration and they consent or are grappled.

  • The time reduction on non-Movement Actions applies only to the parts of actions when your personal speed is a factor,: pouring water or smoking a steak are not affected, but constructing a shelter or picking a lock would be. The GM will determine how much the total time is reduced based on how relevant personal speed is to the task.
  • Any Encumbrance penalty to your movement still applies, but you do not suffer from any sort of exhaustion.
  • Damage from a collision depends on your speed at the time, as well as what you hit. GM's discretion, but generally moving faster than a car on the freeway and hitting a dense, solid object like a wall or a tree should be lethal. Mundane armor will not apply, but any supernatural forms of protection will.

Spend a Quick Action. You must actively and obviously use a scarf, sheet, or handkerchief to activate this Effect.

You may withdraw an item from your stash, or add an item that is within arm’s reach to your stash. You may only stash targets which are in your possession, grappled, or otherwise controlled by you.

You may store Objects in your stash, each no larger than something which could fit inside a briefcase (15 liters), and you may store up to 3 things at a time.

You may choose to equip any equipment you withdraw at no additional cost.

  • "Equip" refers to drawing a gun, putting on a piece of armor, etc. You may store or withdraw a maximum of 6 items in a given Round. Reminder: you may perform up to two Quick Actions for -2 dice each or 3 if you use up your Action, unless a different Effect grants you additional Quick Actions.
  • Containers which hold multiple things may count as a single item so long as the things within are generally packaged together. For instance, you may stash a clip full of bullets, a medical kit full of medical supplies, or a box of crackers, but you cannot stash a backpack full of miscellaneous equipment.
  • You may only attempt to store Objects which are free-standing and disconnected from other things. The use of this Effect will not allow you to sever any connections holding an Object in place.
  • The Maximum Object Size parameter is intended to roughly capture the weight / size restriction of items and isn’t intended to restrict shape. GM discretion is advised. A human being is level 4 in the Maximum Object Size parameter.
