And they whisper back, quiet voices in her ear, telling her some of the object's secrets.
Spend 2 Actions. Select a target Object within arm's reach. This Effect cannot be used unless you are fully enveloped in the Mists. At the end of your investigation, roll Perception + Investigation at Difficulty 6.
You learn all the following information about your target:
- Determine if this target is Alien in origin or whether it has any Alien energy or outside influences. You receive information about the type of energy, including the name of the relevant Source pool or equivalent.
- You learn the object's intended function and how to use it for its intended purpose, though not necessarily the ability to do so.
This Gift's Cost is capped at 2 and cannot be increased further.

The Sons of Salem
We swear to secure our people against the wickedness and evil of the invisible world.

The Sons of Salem is a loosely-organized conservative populist movement in the United States that preaches violent opposition to anything they perceive as witchcraft, demonic, or monstrous.
Blowhard podcaster Ted Gundy and former general of the mercenary group “Hognose,” Roland Rush, founded the movement in 2010 after a series of violent werewolf attacks and unexplained, supernatural murders in Tennessee. Memberships grew quickly, stoked by Ted’s fiery doomsday rhetoric on his podcast "Truth Seekers" and the aspiration of the masculine power embodied by Roland.
Although they speak of duty, honor, and maintaining the “natural order” of things, the Sons of Salem are driven by fear. They collect guns and appear at protests en-masse as a way of easing the all-consuming terror of their powerlessness. At the same time, they have conditioned themselves to respond to fear with “strength” (read: violence).

Appraise
Her greed knows no bounds.
The Thief examines an object closely for a minute to appraise its value. As their eyes dance across the subject, their pupils split vertically, and their irises fade to gold. If it is a particularly valuable item, the Thief may greedily lick their lips, revealing a forked tongue.
Within a minute, they have determined how materially valuable the object is and why.
Exert your Mind and spend a minute. Select a target Object within arm's reach. At the end of your investigation, roll Charisma + Culture at Difficulty 6.
You learn all the following information about your target:
- You learn the object's highest material value and why it is worth so much.
You cannot investigate the same target more than once per day.

Uncanny Assessment
Some things require a closer look.

Murder Mystery
"Uh huh..."
The detective looks briefly to the corpse, taking in the finer details of the scene as he removes a folder from his bag. Over the course of a minute or two, the papers within begin to fill with various details about the perp. Most pressingly: their full legal name and a number of photos detailing their current appearance.
Exert your Mind and spend a minute. Select a target Object within 25 feet. You must actively and obviously use a manila folder to activate this Effect. At the end of your investigation, roll Perception + Investigation at Difficulty 6.

- If this target is destroyed or killed, you learn the name and appearance of the being responsible.

Fire Sight: Spectral Lens
Just Lookin!
An invisibly thin veil of plasma glazes over your eyes as you analyze the object. Witnesses will perceive you as examining the object normally.
Seems like those college courses taught you something after all! You are able to interpret the spectral patterns objects emit through scientific knowledge and analysis. Thus, you are able to detect more in depth info on the chemical composition of the object and other such fine details.
