Charlie's eyes glow with the same spiritual light that the Dead Line does when under the active effects of The Lifeline. She brings her target's consciousness temporarily to a temporary 'transitory' space. In this space, both Charlie and her target can see each other standing in an environment representing their souls in an endless dark void. (As detailed in the Extended Description.)
Charlie feels out souls as if they were abstract environments tied to the person's inner self. A violent and insecure person would have a volcano twisted and bent, about to snap, while a gentle and patient person would have a calm pool of water in a delicate glade.
Charlie's own soul is an ever-changing labyrinth of railroad tracks spiking out in all directions. The labyrinth's many tunnels hold a single winding rail flickering with green-blue fire leading to some unknown place.
(When describing the shape of a character's soul, consider the following:
- What is the character's temperament?
- What are the character's aspirations?
- How does the character view themselves?
- How can you tie the abstract shape of a soul to the character's nature?)
Exert your Mind and spend 2 Actions. Select a Sapient target or a Creature within 20 feet. You may select a target at any range if you use up a mark of the target's movement, such as a subway ticket or a footprint, of the target. You must actively and obviously use a conductor's cap to activate this Effect. At the end of your investigation, roll Intellect + Occult at Difficulty 6.
You learn all the following information about your target:
The quality and specificity of information gained depends on your Outcome. For any information you learn about your target, the corresponding information about you is shared with them.
This Effect is obviously Alien and eye-catching across its range to those witnessing it, and you are obviously the source.
Any information you gather is visible to those with line of sight to Charlie as they, too, are brought into the Intersection, (they also stand on platforms made in the shape of their own souls, but not nearly enough to make a judgment on) and made publicly available. This also includes any information the target learns about you.
You cannot investigate the same target more than once per day.
By having your target go through therapy totalling 24 hours in duration you are capable of assisting them in curing a trauma they possess
Exert your Mind to activate. Select a Living target within arm's reach. You cannot target yourself. Over the course of one day, your patient must communicate with you and reveal at least one of their Traumas to you, including the details of those Traumas and the circumstances of how they were acquired. After the full treatment time has elapsed, roll Charisma + Influence at Difficulty 6.
Your target may Resist. If your treatment is successful, you may remove one of the patient's revealed Traumas without incurring any Experience cost.
Something of a Pool Shark in his day, when he throws a stone, flicks a ball bearing, or lobs a hand grenade - the item ricochets off to it's target, striking with surprising force.
Edgar Stokes was quite the Billiards player back in the day - many of the rough brawls of his younger days were with people he hustled at the Pool Table. When aiming for something he can see (or smell), Edgar has an uncanny ability to ricochet shots off multiple surfaces, striking victims with relative ease.
You gain the following benefits as long as you are engaged in combat with thrown weapons. You must actively and obviously be using a lucky charm to gain the benefits of this Effect.
+2 dice to all rolls utilizing thrown weapons.
Possession of this Power grants the following Trauma at all times: Hustler: Roll Self Control to turn down a game of chance.
You also gain the following effects:
The Kuznya swings a hammer with incredible power and expert precision hundreds of times every day, one more time won't mater.
You gain the following benefits as long as you are engaged in combat with melee weapons.
+2 dice to all rolls with melee weapons. You may Defend against firearm attacks from any range using melee weapons.
You also gain the following effects:
Dante is a master at blending in to any crowd or organization. If they can find complete privacy, they may channel their focus to temporarily create the illusion of any outfit or uniform they desire. The new clothes shimmer into existence over their existing garb over the course of a minute of meditation.
Exert your Mind and spend 2 Actions. You must make a Trauma roll when you use this Effect. Its Difficulty cannot be reduced by any means. If you fail or Botch, you receive one Mind Damage and a new Trauma.
You become disguised in a manner of your choosing. The disguise lasts for two hours, or you may end it early at will.
The new appearance must have a similar sex, age, and race to your own. You cannot significantly change your height and weight. Your disguise cannot directly mimic an existing person. You may change the appearance of your outfit. A disguise cannot affect your Attributes or other stats.
You may roll Charisma + Crafts to attempt to make your disguise Beautiful. If your Outcome is 6 or higher, non-Effect Charisma rolls where your good looks could help are rolled at -2 Difficulty. If you fail or botch, you are ugly instead, and non-Effect Charisma rolls are made at +2 Difficulty.
You cannot alter the appearance of your flesh and blood.
It has been the work of the Garuhl to heal the world since the world produced life. Using the natural medicine of the earth, Carter can channel Gaia's blessing to heal.
Exert your Mind and spend 1 minute. Select a Living target within arm's reach. You must use up hand full of herbs in order to activate this Effect. Choose a specific Injury on your target that has not yet been treated with this Effect and roll Brawn + Alertness at Difficulty 6.
If you succeed, the Injury is reduced in Severity by your Outcome. If you reduce its Severity to 0, the Injury is fully healed. Otherwise, it is partially healed and will heal the rest of the way at its natural rate.
This counts as a successful Makeshift Stabilization if the Injury was not already Stabilized; any Battle Scars caused by the Injury will remain.
Once the werewolf tastes the blood of their prey, there's no escape. Those injured by the beast's claws and teeth are marked with its saliva. Their wounds smell strongly of blood, and it's only a matter of time before the werewolf returns with a vengeance to finish the kill.
This Effect activates whenever a target you have injured with your teeth or claws escapes the range of your unarmed attacks. It does not require an Action or Exertion. Select a target within arm's reach. Your target should be intuitively based on the triggering event. This Effect cannot be used unless the target is alive and bleeds.
Your target is marked with a throbbing wound that smells strongly of blood. The mark can only be discovered with a deep medical inspection or Effect. Removal inflicts a Severity 1 Injury on the target.
You are aware of the marked target's direction and distance from you. This lasts for the next month, or until either the mark is removed, or you choose to end the Effect. You can have up to 1 mark active.
You receive +2 dice to any rolls made against a marked target.
You never know whether or not the musician's death is merely part of the performance.
You gain the following benefits at all times.
If you would take an Injury that would kill you, you don’t die. Instead, you survive in an Incapacitated state. This state lasts for the next hour, at which point you fully return to life. Unstabilized Injuries do not degrade while you are Incapacitated
If, while you are unconscious, your wound level rises above your rating in Body + Charisma, or if you take an Injury with Severity greater than your rating in Charisma, you die. After you return, the Injury that would have killed you, as well as any Injuries sustained while Incapacitated, are healed. Battle scars obtained during this time remain.
The Toon performs some sort of cartoonish act of violence. This may be handing someone a bomb, hitting someone with a cartoon mallet, burping a burp that is so noxious it melts flesh, or anything else as long as it is cartoonish.
The attack is more of a throwaway gag than a plot element, so any props or properties of the attack are incidental and disappear immediately. Animated mallets evaporate in a puff of smoke, fire does not spread, and electricity cannot power devices.
Exert your Mind and spend an Action. Select a target within 45 feet. Roll Charisma + Performance Difficulty 6. The target may contest by rolling to Dodge or Defend as a Reaction, Difficulty 6.
If the contested Outcome is positive, the target takes that much Damage plus 4. Armor is fully effective against this damage.
The Ninja's incredible dedication to their discipline grants them supernatural dexterity and agility.
You gain the following benefits at all times.
Your Dexterity rating is increased by 1. You may Exert your Mind to automatically gain an Outcome of 5 on any roll that uses Dexterity (Cannot be used on combat rolls or Power activations).
The Vampire may channel their inner beast and take the form of an animal. It is said they may transform into either a wolf or a bat. If used too often, the Vampire risks losing themselves to their beast forever.
Exert your Mind and spend an Action. You must make a Trauma roll when you use this Effect. Its Difficulty cannot be reduced by any means. If you fail or Botch, you receive one Mind Damage and a new Trauma.
You transform into a vampire bat or a wolf until you transform into something else or choose to return to your original form. See the Extended System text for stats.
While transformed, you cannot use any equipment (including Artifacts and Consumables), and you do not have access to any of your Powers. Any equipment you are wearing transforms with you.
Injuries and Wound Level are carried over between forms. However, transforming can never kill you; you merely remain Incapacitated until your Injuries are sufficiently healed.
Possession of this Power grants the following Battle Scar: A disfigured face with bat-like ears.
