Following her first experience with Maikendo, Luna realized something as soon as she saw the little mouse leave the game looking down at her.
That the difference between being a physical entity and a digital one was a lot more narrow than she thought.
Reality seems to know that isn't right, and works to reject it. Over a minute, digital little 1's and 0's start to eat away at the edges of it before it breaks apart entirely.
Exert your Mind (unless you are Sculpting) and spend an Action. Select a Location within arm's reach.
Select one of the following alterations to create out of man-made construction materials originating at the target:
The alteration begins to form when you activate this Effect and finishes forming on your initiative in the next Round. Until it finishes forming, it is not guaranteed to function.
This alteration lasts one minute but may be prematurely destroyed or altered. Your alterations may be broken through with appropriate tools. Anyone attempting to break through must roll Brawn + a relevant Ability. A cumulative Outcome of 6 across all attempts breaks a hole large enough to move through. See the extended system text for GM guidance on various tools.
You may sculpt your walls, domes, or tunnels as you create them, without any additional activation time or cost.
Possession of this Power grants the following Battle Scar: Minor Vertigo: Take a -1 to any rolls involving balance or grace.
When augmenting herself, Kat alternates between restful meditative poses similar to yoga, and slowly going through a series of motions similar to martial arts katas. A light gray fog spreads down her limbs, trailing her hands and feet as she does these motions. This focuses her intention and clears her mind until the capability takes shape within her.
When using the pouch aspect, a similar looking fog appears where an object touches her as she places it into storage in a non-physical echo of herself. The same fog appears when she reaches in to pull something back out.
Heinlein wrote about other realities that may as well be fictional to us and called them Fictons. It's simpler to say than 'parallel universes' so now I call them that as well. My abilities come from a Ficton.
As explained by scientists in the Ficton I'm connected to, I have the same ability that some there do. Apparently I mentally manipulate Fermionic dark matter which connects me to their Ficton. This gives me visions from there when I focus on it. It also gives me 'super powers' like people there have.
I feel a kinship with someone there called KatAbra, both emotionally and in regards to powers. I discovered that I can learn to do anything she can do. Cat themed abilities, physical enhancement, and minor mystical abilities such as the ones I'll explain shortly. Potentially, I can learn to conceal myself from others, heal myself, erect mental defenses, that sort of thing. None of the flashy or manipulative stuff like elemental attacks, flying, or reading minds.
Improving my durability, speed, and hand to hand combat were simple enough. Environmental adaptation wasn't much tougher. Eventually I learned to manifest an echo of my physical body to use as limited storage (if you can sense magic it seems to be a shadow overlapping my body, vibrating in a pitch inaudible to normal ears). Most difficult to learn was making my mind manifest a functioning version of physical technology. While I'd like to find something more versatile to mimic than a cell phone, technology in our universe offers isn't as nice as what hero teams there use. If someone here has created a device similar to their communicators, I'd need to examine it and how it functions before mimicking it. Thankfully I don't need to know the inner workings, just the properties and how to use it.
My connection is only between here and that single Ficton, but each person who can do this connects to just one other Ficton, different for each of them. In the supers Ficton, people have connected to places that grant them things like fantasy magic, making Steampunk devices function, etc. Each of us gets something different, but we all get something somehow.
Exert your Mind and spend 30 minutes. You may only target yourself. The target can easily Resist.
You may add one augmentation to your target. Each augmentation counts as a Trauma and can have exactly one of the following Effects:
The augmentations you provide are not outwardly visible nor obvious.
You may end this Effect prematurely as a Free Action.
Your alteration "heals" over the course of the next month, after which it is fully cured.
A semi transparent liquid replaces Everblue's arm, it filling the void he made from his pursuit for strange artefacts... this one is much more... mechanical and fluid... too fluid, sometimes.
You gain the following benefits at all times.
You gain an additional limb that functions as a standard human arm and hand.
Each additional limb you posses can take one Quick Action per Round without incurring a -2 dice penalty to your main Action. Each additional appendage you have gives you +1 dice to make and resist Grapples (up to a maximum bonus of +4 dice).
Any Battle Scars that affect or remove your additional limb will heal in a single week.
Your appendage is capable of bending and squishing in normally-impossible ways. It may fit through any gap that is not water-tight and retain its functionality.
Your Extra Appendage counts as an object and can be hacked or targeted by any Powers that affect objects or machines. Injuries to your Extra Appendage cannot be healed by Powers that affect living things but may be repaired during Downtime.
Gobster McJaw has lived a life where his medium is not respected, referred to as a wide array of nonsensical words.
I'm a Jester, THE Jester.
You gain the following benefits at all times.
Your Charisma rating is increased by 0. You may Exert your Mind to automatically gain an Outcome of 5 on any roll that uses Charisma (Cannot be used on combat rolls or Power activations).
You also gain the following effects:
Simmy's arms are replaced by a pair of feathered wings that somehow still have the flexibility required to engage in her work. They aren't strong enough to allow her to take flight on her own... yet.
You gain the following benefits at all times.
As long as you are conscious, you are immune to falling Damage and may hover in place mid-air. Additionally, you may glide as you fall, traveling 35 feet horizontally for every 10 feet you fall. While gliding, you fall at a minimum speed of 10 feet per Round.
You are subject to the following effects while gliding:
Possession of this Power grants the following Trauma at all times: Magpie Syndrome - Activates whenever you spy a particularly shiny object. To avoid immediately approaching or investigating, roll Self-Control.
When coming into visual observation by a human not involved with the supernatural, Kōji transforms into what seems to be a completely normal raccoon dog.
This Effect activates whenever being seen by a human with no connection or knowledge of the supernatural.. It does not require an Action or Exertion. Your target should be intuitively based on the triggering event.
You transform into tanuki for two hours or until you choose to end the Effect. See the Extended System text for stats.
While transformed, you cannot use any equipment (including Artifacts and Consumables), and you do not have access to any of your Powers. The equipment you are wearing does not transform with you.
Injuries and Wound Level are carried over between forms. However, transforming can never kill you; you merely remain Incapacitated until your Injuries are sufficiently healed.
The time-twister presses a button on one of their wristwatches, and, in a flash of orange light, disappears. They have skipped 12 seconds forward in time. To them, the travel is instantaneous, but everyone else must wait until they reappear.
Exert your Mind and spend an Action. You must actively and obviously use a clock or watch to activate this Effect.
You phase out of reality for 4 Rounds. During this time, you cannot perceive or affect the outside world or take any Actions. You cannot move. Nothing can interact with you in any way.
When you phase out, you may bring up to 1 additional target in arm's reach with you.
It's true the mad scientist is one of the greatest minds of our generation, that they can solve any puzzle or riddle. However, no one wants to spend time with them.
You gain the following benefits at all times.
Your Intellect rating is increased by 1. You may Exert your Mind to automatically gain an Outcome of 5 on any roll that uses Intellect (Cannot be used on combat rolls or Power activations).
You also gain the following effects:
The detective can learn a lot by watching someone for a minute. Each subtle detail, every unexplained stain, reveals something about where the target has been. Ocassionally, they'll drop a business card, or explain how to contact them. The detective is listening.
Exert your Mind (unless you win a coin flip) and spend a minute. Select a Sapient target within 20 feet. This Effect cannot be used unless the target does not know you're watching them. At the end of your investigation, roll Charisma + Investigation at Difficulty 6.
You learn a single specific piece of information, chosen from the following list, about your target:
The quality and specificity of information gained depends on your Outcome.
You cannot investigate the same target more than once per day.
The psychic can reach into another's' mind and pilfer their deepest memories. Doing so causes the psychic's nose to bleed and is exceptionally draining.
Exert your Mind and spend an Action. Select a Living, Animate target within 25 feet. You must maintain Concentration while the effect is active. Roll Intellect + Investigation at Difficulty 6. The target may resist by rolling Mind at Difficulty 6.
If you succeed, you are able to view your target's memories. If you fail, the target knows you're attempting to read their memories.
You may ask a number of specific questions about their memory equal to your Contested Outcome. For example, “what is their computer password,” “What were they doing at 4:00PM yesterday,” etc. You cannot get answers to broad, analytical questions like “are they a good person?” or “what are their plans for the future?”
Each memory takes as long to read as it takes to answer the question. When replaying a full memory, it is replayed in double time.
This Effect is not obvious, and the only sign you are using an Effect is your nose bleeding. If someone suspects that an Effect was used, they must roll Perception + Alertness, Difficulty 8 to pick up on your Tell.
After this Effect ends, you cannot move quicker than a walk (15 feet per Round) for one minute and suffer a -1 dice penalty for an hour.
The ninja does not approve of guns; they prefer using the bow for its stealth and versatility.
You gain the following benefits as long as engaged in combat with wooden longbows.
You receive +2 dice to all rolls using wooden longbows. Reloading is a Free Action, and drawing your weapon does not require a Quick Action as long as it is on your person.
You also gain the following effects:
