When utilizing a kaleidoscope, you gaze through the tube while twisting, allowing light to warp and refract on the various reflective surface installed throughout.
This one however, forces the user to slowly fade out of the visible spectrum, as all color saturation drains from their appearance, followed by their brightness, as if they are being edited out of the world through a digital program.
What is externally observed happening to the user is similar to what the user sees when peering through the tube, as all color drains from their surroundings until they are surrounding by the question of nothing, as they are either or neither in a state of light or dark, and therefore cannot be perceived or observed by things in its surroundings.
Where as it is understood that all things visible to the human eye are due to the efforts of light and refraction, this item warps antilight, or darkness, to shape where light is and where light isnt, allowing the user to shape the visible reality around it.
Expend a point of Battery and spend an Action. Roll a single d10, Difficulty 4. If you fail or botch, the Effect fails and you cannot activate it again for an hour.
You phase out of reality for 10 minutes. During this time, you cannot affect the outside world or take any Actions. You cannot move. Nothing can interact with you in any way.
A knife that Bu Fang maintains carefully, a chef knife that while simple, has stuck with bu Fang since his old restaurant. It's nothing special, not from heritage, from some deep adventure, just from a stall that he bought from in his teen.
Yet it grew with him, witnessed his skills, his emotions and sweats, effort poured into the blade until it decided to repay him back his efforts, becoming a knife that is specifically from Bu Fang, by Bu fang, for Bu fang.
Edit: Fine, but will see some changes with the update
This Artifact can be used as a knife. It is roughly the same size as a knife and just as difficult to conceal.
Attack by rolling (Dexterity or Brawn) + (Melee or Brawl), Difficulty 6. Successful attacks deal Contested Outcome +4 Weapon Damage. The target's Armor is reduced to 1/2, rounded up against this Damage.
You also gain the following effects:
Upon the side of each boot at the top is a button, slightly indented where, when pressed, they activate.
Sideplating shifts as the boot arranges itself in a manner more befitting it's purpose. From within the cracks of the plating, it glows a neon green.
Then they fully activate raising the user up by an inch. They hover over the ground as if wearing magnets. Now they are able to zip around at great speeds.
The user can lean in the direction they wish to go to move. They can also put weight on both feet in opposing directions to stand still.
Expend a point of Battery and spend an Action.
Lasts 1 minute. Whenever you use your Movement, after all other calculations, the distance you may travel is doubled.
If your last Action was used for an all-out sprint or you are already accelerated, you may spend an Action to accelerate without a roll, adding 100 feet/Round (not affected by your speed bonus) to your sprint speed, to a max of an extra 300 feet/Round. As long as you stay at these speeds, you may use this distance per Round as your Free Movement.
Any terrain you traverse while accelerated must be passable by a standard vehicle at similar speeds. Stopping, turning sharply, or decelerating more than 100 feet/Round must be performed as an Action. Failing to decelerate with an Action (whether because of an obstacle, sudden unfavorable terrain, an Injury, or other event) counts as a tumble or catastrophic vehicle collision as per the vehicle rules.
If you perform an all-out Sprint while this Effect is active, all attacks targeting you suffer -3 dice for the next Round.
A gift from Ares. A modified firearm yet to be seen by this age. It's stealthy, concealable, and never runs out of ammo and packs a powerful punch. Perfect for bringing down any size game encountered.
This Artifact can be used as a rifle. It is roughly the same size as a rifle but can be collapsed into a matchbox and concealed. Collapsing or expanding it costs a Quick Action.
Attack by rolling Dexterity + Firearms, Difficulty 6. Successful attacks deal Contested Outcome +10 Weapon Damage.
You also gain the following effects:
The most prominent engraving on the bracer, the nib of an old fashioned pen, raises slightly from the surface. With a flick of the wrist or finger, a shiny golden shuriken in the shape of a pen nib fires from the wearer's fingertip. Trailing behind the shuriken is a thin line of ink, which vanishes on impact along with the nib. If the wearer chooses to, they transpose along the path of the ink from where they were to where it hit, appearing to move as a thicker section of ink along the line. Even if no fingers point straight at the target, the shuriken curves in flight to hit more accurately.
The bracers have multiple engraved images, each of them deep enough through the bronze to show the titanium beneath. While made as a pair of bracers, each is a different artifact. They were made as high quality costume elements but are fully functional for defense. The engravings were originally simply images with a personal meaning, but over time more will likely become enchanted.
Each function of the bracer is manifested from the enchanter's mental visualization, and the personal energy of the wearer.
This Artifact produces ephemeral projectiles that can be used as a shuriken.
Attack by rolling Dexterity + Athletics, Difficulty 6. Successful attacks deal Contested Outcome +2 Weapon Damage.
You also gain the following effects:
As he shoots his scalpel gun, the scalpel begins to dig in and performs a sort of surgery, causing the effect he programmed it to do.
Spend an Action to activate. Select a Living target within 20 feet. Roll Intellect + Technology at Difficulty 6. The target may roll Body, -2 dice at Difficulty 7, as a Free Action to resist.
If you succeed, the target receives a new Battle Scar of your choosing, limited by the contested Outcome:
This Gift's level is capped at 2 Gifts and cannot be increased further.
Standard issue in the Future Soldier's home time, the Personal Shield Generator (PSG) projects a protective energy barrier around the body. It absorbs damage far better than traditional armor, but its battery is quickly drained. When depleted, the PSG must spend a few seconds recharging.
When struck, the normally-invisible field of the PSG flashes, revealing a bright yellow honey-comb pattern encasing the body.
You gain the following benefits as long as you are wearing this Artifact.
You have 6 Armor, which reduces incoming Damage. Armor from multiple sources does not stack.
Your Armor cannot be destroyed, and it always provides a minimum of 2 Armor regardless of any Armor shredding or penetration. It cannot be circumvented with Called Shots. When shredded, it returns to full potency in one hour.
Any time your Armor prevents Damage, your Armor rating is temporarily decreased by 2. Whenever it goes five Rounds without preventing any Damage, it is restored back to its full value.
The Axe of Legend's blade has been imbued with the metal of the dark lord of rock and roll. It shreds chords and flesh. The rock god commanding it may recall it to their hand at will.
This Artifact can be used as a sword / axe. It is roughly the same size as a sword / axe and just as difficult to conceal.
Attack by rolling Brawn + Melee, Difficulty 6. Successful attacks deal Contested Outcome +4 Weapon Damage.
You also gain the following effects:
The spy can do up their passport to take on the appearance of any valid form of identification they may need.
This Artifact can change its appearance. When not transformed, it is roughly the same size as a passport and just as difficult to conceal.
Exert your Mind and spend an Action to activate. This Artifact changes its appearance into an Object within the category of forms of identification. This lasts until you decide to end the Effect, which may be done as a Free Action.
The new object's appearance can mimic specific items (such as a particular painting, a certain person’s ID, etc), but must be of a similar size and weight to this Artifact.
The new appearance is illusory; it will hold up to scrutiny, but its composition is not altered and it gains no new functionality. Any attempt to use it for a function which it cannot perform (for instance, making bread look like a knife and then trying to stab someone) will cause the illusion to fail or allow a Perception check to see through the illusion, at the GM's discretion.
The airship of solitude is the mad scientist's lair and preferred mode of travel. Not only does it include a full science laboratory, it can be collapsed into an incredibly small canvas cube and easily transported. The mad scientist may pilot the ship alone or rely on its autopilot features for ultimate convenience.
This Artifact can be used as a blimp. It is roughly the same size as a blimp but can be collapsed into a phone-sized canvas cube and concealed. Collapsing or expanding it costs a Quick Action.
This blimp has full science laboratory, bullet-proof envelope, and ample parachutes. Any roll to pilot this vehicle receives +2 dice.
You also gain the following effects:
If the Selkie's seal skin is worn close to the body, any contact with salt water will cause them to transform into a seal. While transformed, they have full access to their normal suite of Powers.
This Effect activates whenever you are submerged in salt water. It does not require an Action or Exertion. Your target should be intuitively based on the triggering event.
You transform into small for two hours or until you choose to end the Effect. See the Extended System text for stats.
While transformed, you cannot use any equipment (including Artifacts and Consumables), and you cannot use your Active, Targeted, or Trap Powers. However, you can use your Passive Powers. Any equipment you are wearing transforms with you.
Injuries and Wound Level are carried over between forms. However, transforming can never kill you; you merely remain Incapacitated until your Injuries are sufficiently healed.
