Since acquiring my new mystical abilities, my prowess at solving missing persons cases has increased ten fold! They say that the first forty-eight hours of an investigation are the most important, but for me now it becomes the first twenty-four.
Many police will only accept a missing Person case if the victim has been gone longer than the forty-eight hour period, but with my new gift I can move even faster. The trail is hot and timed, and Inspector Bluedo is on the case.
Kidnapped children who might otherwise be lost to the wind now become much easier to find. And vile kidnappers who might have once so cleverly hid their misdeeds now become caught in my mystical enhanced investigation.
Sometimes the cases are colder than twenty-four hours, but this just requires a bit more investigation. My standard detective prowess is still in play, and even if I cannot immediately follow a trail to them, investigating enough to find their most resent trail helps me to confirm my suspicions.
Sometimes this can lead to trouble however. I find the culprit through mystic means, and yet I cannot reveal how. Though magic is known, I do not wish to reveal my gift just yet. I still must find evidence to support my claims, or at least enough to say I have more than a gut feeling (though in some cases I have used that when emergencies call for it.)
It is a fine line I must walk. The magic may give me hints, but it's the investigation itself that still gets me to the core of the case.
Speaking of investigation, in my spare time I have been doing a little research into my lineage. The words of the person who gave me the gift inspired my curiosity. Perhaps, in my investigation, I shall discover a clue as to what this mysterious individual may have meant.
After the debacle at the high school I have continued doubling down on my desire to solve more and more high profile cases. This, of course, has been a slow and steady rise, however with my more recent string of successes in tracking missing people it feels like the authorities are slowly starting to trust in my expertise.
Just last week there was a rather nasty jewelry store robbery in Beverly Hills. The amount of jewels stolen was quite high, but luckily one of the perpetrators happened to leave behind a single hair. And that was all I needed.
After extricating myself from prying eyes I was able to use my gift to pick up a trail. I lead the police to a rather upscale apartment. One wouldn't think that this would be the hideout of jewelry store robbers, but my gift has not failed me yet.
We got a warrant to search the apartment. The rather upscale couple who lived there were outraged by our intrusion. The swore up and down that we wouldn't find anything, and I have no doubt that would have been true for any normal detective. But in addition to my already admirable abilities, with the addition of a little magic I am something more.
I followed the trail and it curiously led me over their balcony. This was strange at first. I asked an officer to hold me over the edge by the ankles.
The couple yelled even more in outrage, but I saw it. The glint of fear in their eyes. The officer complied, and after dangling upside down like a bat for but a few moments I found it. A set of plastic bags filled with jewels taped to the bottom of the balcony. They tried to run, of course, but they were already trapped.
The paycheck from this case was nice. But the applause I recieved from my police compatriots was all the sweeter.
After my latest misadventure which nearly took my life, I decided that it was time for the next stage of my career. During many of the cases that I've been sent on, I ended up working with various international intelligence agencies in the investigation and clean up of said events. I had worked twice with the American FBI and once with the Canada's CSIS. I have lately phone that, just as in my normal career as a private investigator that working with local law enforcement can be most beneficial, however, as I discovered in my first contract that lack of official credintials outside of my detective's badge can be a bit of a hinder.
Thus, in order to strengthen both my position and my authority, I decided to submit my application to join Interpol. With the appropriate Interpol credentials, I would be able to more freely coordinate with local law enforcement and hopefully have a stronger stance to get culprits and citizens to cooperate. I filed online, as one does, and after a reasonable time I recieved an email back. I had been accepted. Huzzah!
The email said that I was off for two weeks of training in beautiful Scottland. I took a moment to relish in my victory and celebrate at my favorite cat cafe (the one with the exceptional desserts), before backing my bags and heading off to the beautiful land of kilts and bagpipes. The training was intense, but also extremely educational. I learned a lot, made lots of potential new friends, and passed with flying colors. I look forward to putting my new training to use in the future, though hopefully when I do the circumstances won't be quite so perlilous.
