When I came back from my day long trip to Ireland, my mom was understandably upset with me skipping school. I was always a bad liar and my mother a good detector, so I didn't even try lying, just explaining everything that happened. Surprisingly she believed me and I was able to vent a bit about my feelings. How I felt like I could never achieve something of greatness, always being bound to ordinarity. How it seemed no matter how hard I tried, I never really improved from my starting ability.
Then she opened up. Apparently she and my dad were part of some sort of cult before I was born. Participated in some rituals for the well-being of the child. When my father died, she left. She was never sure if any of the rituals really worked, but she did notice that I was remarkably healthy and had little problems with starting things. Afterwards she went into the attic and out of an old shoebox she handed me a magical necklace from the cult.
I'll try to get more info on the cult, what they're doing right now, if I can somehow find a way to go and break ordinarity. Getting an internship/job at the British Museum would also help with that both info about the cult and other ways to circumvent such things.
Also when she pulled out the necklace, I almost broke mentally. Probably some sort of aftereffect from the mission, so mom helped me get some psychological help with that.
So after the last contract I basically had no choice but to tell my mom what happened, a burn scar that big is hard to cover up. She was understandably upset, but said she would not stop me if that's what I desire. She'll look into some way to maybe get our insurance to cover a plastic surgery.
On a happier note: I managed to score an interview with the British Museum. And actually managed to get the internship after a few questions from the older fellow (who gifted me some werebear blood). A bit of help here and there and working with the 2 I met already (Dr. Rivermore and Robert Millhouse from last time) and a bit of working with the rest of the task force and in exchange they let me use their resources, both knowledge and actual artifacts they acquired over the last few hundred years (only as a loan of course). I think with school ending soon, I'll try to take over the job full time from then. But for now I gotta make the best out of my situation, I can feel that I'm getting closer to my goal.
So close to becoming king of England...
