Zen and the art of Motorcycle construction

Spent most of this month putting some tender love and care into my Magic Carpet. She's a beauty, a '52 Hydraglide that is almost a twin of the Captain America bike from Easy Rider, except the paint job I've done on the tank.  Richie Rich was able to get me a racing-tuned gearbox for her and the seat's custom leather but the REAL special stuff is inside.  Run throughout the bike in various places in the engine and frame I've marked her with a sort of signature rune. it should eventually let me channel some other energy through it, and give it some special juice when I'm riding but we'll see what I can do with that. For now, it's still Just an awesome ride that i poured my blood sweat and tears into, and it's something awesome that i built with my own hands, not just patched up someone else's thing.

Chicago

Got a call from Isaac, he wants to maybe hire me on as the mechanic for his merc team.  We've talked about them a few times and it seems like a hell of a way to see the world. Plus, with his being a contractor and all, It might be a chance to get my hands on something that the Special Collections group might want. First job sounds like it'll genuinely help some people, too, getting rid of those rats burning down Chicago.

We talked over the engineering of it, building some oversized rat traps to collect them in, and ways to handle killing the little bastards without letting them torch the traps themselves. Gonna play the details close to the chest till it all goes off but i took the bike for a cross country ride out to Chi-town to meet him and start getting set up. Got a bunch of his guys beefed up with night vision eyes, and swapped my magic armor out for the same.  fixed up a field radio and a broken down old military humvee too, and we started looking online together at helicopter kits. Nothing with a huge tank, but that matters a lot less when you have magic fuel.

Worked a little with Uncle George's notes too and I've worked out a way to channel more power through the runes in my bike, and that upgrade when it's on a vehicle. I can drive like a bat out of hell when I'm in something I can link to that way and I barely notice I'm doing it.

Been sitting a few days while logistics are worked out...  Oops, got an urgent message in, maybe this is go time?

Changes

Izaac offered me a job.  It's weird to think about after working for myself for so long, but I'm taking him up on it.  I'm looking for an apprentice to run the shop in Lawrence and I'm setting up a bunkroom and machine shop aboard the AndMizror cargo ship, the Lucky Bastard.  Oh I'll still pop in around Lawrence from time to time to check on the house and the shop, but I'm leaving it in Henry's capable hands for the time being.

Taking a look around my new digs, I'm already plotting out where things are going to go, CNC, Lathes, Gunsmithing bench, etc.  I'm kind of excited to get into munitions and materiel. I'm also thinking i might look around online for some kit Helicopters that I can put together for us and Isaac's already got me working on some encrypted radios and a HumVee as well as some odds and ends stuff.

I wasn't wrong...

This thing with Marshall is going to be a problem. i did some digging around Cheyenne at the campground and i got some video footage. It wouldn't be enough to take to a jury, or even the cops, but it's him. with everything else, with what he did tell me and the alignment of it al, he killed that little girl.  I don't want to tip him off that i know, or start some kind of turf war but what in God's name would possess him to do that??  Getting into it with the wolves was one thing.  They were poaching cattle, though I don't think that's worth killing them, I don't know how it all went down, but what could make that child deserve to die in his eyes??

I need to know where he lives, and what he can bring to bear.  I talked to Ricter briefly to vouch for Izaac on the refugees and I mentioned this. Told him it was my mess to clean up, though.  But Bruno is interested(for his own reasons, mind) and Izaac will likely have my back.  Let's see what we can find out.
