I've always been a bit more than light on my feet, but since the last job it's really been something else. Like there's no input between what I want to do and its being done. It took a little adjusting. I've been trying to work on my fading in and out too and I can manage it twice before starting to feel it get to my nerves now. Between my regular little burglings I went on a short camping trip like I used to do with my dad. Minimal equipment. Just something to do, really.
I feel like I'm ready for a bigger job. I've been poking around some of the other towns. Not sure I want to hit Ann Arbor. Don't wanna cause too much noise where I'm already at. I think I'll put it off til after the next job though, when I can feel really ready to up the ante.
First 15 days: Mostly recovering from the last contract. Even with Elrick's help, I'm pretty battered. I did some upper body workouts since the main problem is my recently recovered foot, and some small jobs on the side. Once I'm at least partially recovered, I'm gonna find somewhere good to hit. Probably go down to Toledo, case some of the richer-looking houses, check the security, and see what I can jump in, grab, and get through a fence. Maybe even find a new fence. Someone who'll give me a bigger cut, work better items, maybe even point out some good targets. I'll write the rest after I've made my move.
I made contact with an underworld dealer named Galligan Stone. He agreed to act as a fence for me if I could acquire an old Winchester that had been moved to a museum in Chicago. I drove over, cased the place and found two likely targets to infiltrate after it closed. Once it had, I became phantasmal, worked my way up to the door, picked it open, and quickly moved to the side to take cover as a guard came to check on it and re-lock it.
From there, I made my way to the closer of the two areas that weren't available to the public. Three guards outside, so I doubled back to the dinosaur area, created a distraction, and snuck past the two that came to check, and then the final one who remained at the door. Mostly a break room, but there was a door through the back that I went into that contained a bunch of things in storage for future exhibits. I couldn't find what I was looking for on the manifest, so I set about looking through the aisles manually. About two hours later, one of the workers coming in and out discovered me. I threatened him with my crossbow, but he dropped his clipboard and went off screaming.
Unfortunate event, but fortunately I was able to find what I was looking for on his clipboard. I found it and made a break for it with the guards hot on my tail. One of them tazed me as I went out the fire escape and I got chased through the streets for quite a while before I got away. Once I was clear, I made my way back to Galligan, and he was pretty impressed to find out that I'd retrieved his old rifle so fast. New contact: established.
