A Whole New World

Knowing the supernatural exists is one thing, experiencing it firsthand is another. I'd seen the videos on Cryptoleak just like everyone else. And I didn't trust any that any government or powerful corporation ever told us the whole truth, just like everyone else. Everyone sensible, at least. But supernatural entities and occurrences never really concerned me. They had no pertinence to my cases, so they weren't important. That all changed when I became a Contractor.

What I experienced was insane, and now I have the useless arm to show for it. Though in the grand scheme of things, that seems a small price to pay for the door that was just opened for me. And now that I know the extent of what's out there, there's no turning back. I've become obsessed, researching into everything I can. In spite of the common knowledge we all accept, there seems to be nothing about my experience. No mysterious entities giving people weird jobs. Unfortunately my companions won't be of any help either. Catherine is just as new to this as me, and I have no clue what Zeta IX's deal is. Not sure I want to either. Either way, he is unavailable for questioning. Probably shouldn't look to into that one. Not yet, at least. Though he did get me the info to contact this Professor character, and apparently he may be able to help with my arm. As inconvenient as this thing is, it's not my top priority right now. I need to know more.

I have some new vocabulary for my new world. Harbinger. Contractor. I don't know what exactly the Harbingers are, but there seems to be a lot of them. They recruit us, the contractors, and dispense the supernatural gifts in the name of whatever higher power it is they serve. These contracts themselves seem to be pretty straightforward, in spite of how insane the actual jobs themselves are. Complete the job, get a gift. Simple as that. These gifts are unique to the individual contractors as well. Our resident TV Psychic Catherine may have been a phony before, but she wields real power now. After seeing her reduce that fake captain to a blubbering mess on the floor with one look, I made a mental note to not get on her bad side. The trigger-happy cowboy used some sort of blood magic, which is as fascinating as it is likely foolish. And Mike the handyman certainly lived up to his looks. He was able to magically add some sort of hidden pocket to my right wrist. With a simple flick I can summon things from it in an instant. It really helps with the whole one arm thing, though I really should look into that Professor Zeta mentioned soon. Perhaps before my next contract, whenever that will be.
