Quincy approached me and started talking about forests. Notes follow:
Ancient Forest around his manor, family keeps it safe.
Unused. No Hunting. Wolves and other wildlife.
Quincy's ancestor made a bargain with a god that their family would protect it for prosperity as long as the forest is maintained.
Quincy didn't believe in story, called it a folk tale, but likes the environment and supporting it. Recently, due to the situation we found ourselves in, he has thought it might actually be there after all, and wants to speak to it.
He wants a guide?
Explained my job. Backpacking trips are on paths, not just exploring wilderness. He seems to still wants my help. Doesn't need me to do anything supernatural.
$20,000 is offered. At first I think it's too much, but I realize it would cover the hazard pay for the supernatural danger.
He thinks I'm quick to assume ill intent. He requests that I "not upset it". I agree.
Since I started this strange new job, a lot of things have started coming easier to me. My memory's still not so good, but that's why the journaling! As I go about doing my day job I find my feet surer, my pack lighter. I feel like I've upped my endurance training regimen by a factor of five, but it's only a little harder. It's amazing! The new job is terrifying of course, and so the new strength is much appreciated - I need to keep myself safe while dealing with all these horrors. I'm hoping that part calms down, but for some reason I can feel in the back of my head like I already know it's only going to get worse from here. Like it's happened before, you know? I don't have anything about that in my notes though. So, it's probably nothing.
[There's a portion a few lines long scratched out so it is unreadable.]
I got a call from Quincy, and apparently Sable needed help with her ankle still. So he flew over with her and I gave her some painkillers in front of Jerry's store. Seems to have worked wonders, so I'm fairly sure it was just a little sprain. She was very thankful, and gave me a hug, which was great because I felt like I'd really done some good. Quincy was saying words like "American Healthcare" and trying to pay money to me or something, so I told him to just donate it to Jerry. I found out later apparently the man donated $25,000 to Jerry's store. Which. I'm not sure how he'll even spend that much money to be honest, but I'm sure he'll appreciate it! Maybe one of those machines that weighs your produce for you instead of needing the little scale weights?
Ooh, or he could get an automatic door! Amazing.
Quincy told me the plan, and I think he knows what he's doing so I went along with it.
Sweepstakes to get Agent Summers to meet up with us in Vegas (it was rigged, which. Kind of fucked).
Once there, I give him some pills to get his brain ok again so he can talk. I'm thankful that these pills seem able to treat pretty much anything!
We discuss how we need to get his and Winters' families out, and some different ways to do that.
Get a kid's body (I veto this) to fake their deaths.
Boating accident. We talk about a jetski accident but would be too hard.
We figure out we can buy a little time still, so we get Summers to get Quincy some random anomalous item to pay his rich friends and decide we're not faking their deaths just yet. I think Quincy said something about extracting them to the middle east, soon.
