Life After (First)Death
Finding myself back in the real world after the... mission was certainly something. Death in there felt... weird. You'd expect pain. Expect some form of agony. But it felt like... nothing. As if you were simply floating in the nothingness. It definitely lingered in my mind even hours after the fact, always there... just in the back of my head as I was doing other things.
Even whilst attending some of my classes, I... could never get that feeling of nothingness outside of my head. I wonder if I will ever stop feeling that lingering sensation.
It certainly made me fear death less, if that is what's awaiting all of us at the end of the finish line. Just... nothingness. Perhaps I feel some relief, some catharsis over it. Even if my death wasn't all that pretty.
But enough of those dreary thoughts. A friend from college sent me an invite to a party, I wonder if that'll alleviate some of those thoughts.

Cooking and Expanding one's palate
After the... stressful few hours of that contract, and the taste of gumbo being... revitalizing after said shit show. I've decided to expand the number of recipes I know how to cook. Starting with recipes around Louisiana Creole Cuisine, one thing is for certain, it made me like oysters. Never had much taste for such... seafoods, but the ways they cooked it certainly helped me stomach that particular brand of cuisine.
I certainly had to try my hand at making gumbo myself, and though it's probably nowhere close to what I got at the end of the contract, I'd say I did well enough for myself. Strongly flavored stock, a mix of meat and shellfish, a thickener, and the Creole "Holy Trinity": Celery, Bell Peppers, and Onions. I went heavier on the meats and shellfish as the nearby grocery store had a sale on such, so I have a lot of left overs saved up for the next couple of days.
Gen-Wyld: Beyond Natural
On March 14, 2018, a little-known company named Gen-Wyld announced FDA approval for a groundbreaking procedure to enhance a patient’s primary and secondary sexual characteristics using gene therapy. The company was an overnight success.
Shortly thereafter, they introduced a suite of gene-altering body modification procedures that allowed patients to make dramatic aesthetic changes to their bodies by gene-splicing “non-human” anatomy. Those daring (and wealthy) enough can now add cuttlefish pigmentation to their skin, sport a pair of fox ears, and even add a functional tail. While rare, these so-called “modders” draw plenty of hate from conservative communities.
Thanks to their revolutionary procedures, Gen-Wyld is now a household name. Norman Carlson, Gen-Wyld’s chief evangelist, recently announced the company is in the trial phase for a groundbreaking treatment for diabetes.
Yet despite their success, a shroud of secrecy surrounds Gen-Wyld. Their no-patent policy obscures the secrets of their procedures from the public eye. Financial experts claim that Gen-Wyld is run less like a traditional business and more like an NGO with some specific, unknown objective.
Some claim that they will not stop until humanity has been reduced to monstrous slaves and that Gen-Wyld’s board of directors will install themselves as inhuman overlords of the new world order.
However, until the true secrets behind Gen-Wyld are discovered, the genetic biotech firm will continue to grow, develop, and progress its grand designs.
