Cashing In

Well, it turns out all of that quest business was real-- I've still got that card that clown gave me. Shoutouts to Little Rainbow.

I've been flipping through the journal to see if any new sections have filled in or something like that. I figured I wasn't gonna get any superpowers like laser eyes or free money printers, after all. Took some experimentation, but eventually, I figured out that I could pull out some of the pages and use them for protection if I focus. Pretty neat, guess this'll keep me safe from the more dangerous jobs in the future.

Still, this payment isn't really a money machine like I mentioned before, so I consider this card to be the real prize. Seriously, a free $25 dollars per day is genuinely life changing. Finally don't have to subsist on Hot Pockets and instant noodles for most days, now. I should probably start figuring out how to invest this later, but hey. I just came off some kind of magic, cosmic quest. May as well indulge myself.

Curses

Been doing some reflecting after that job. Was definitely the opposite kind of crazy from previous one.

I'm pretty sure I got hit with some sort of divine judgement. Don't think I'll be smited or anything like that soon, but it was pressing enough to start reading into this supernatural stuff more. It's also good practice for fiction writing-- maybe I can catch another target audience with this knowledge.

Back to... well, the whole curse business. I'll probably have to do some repenting or stand some divine trial or some plot line like that, but honestly, I'm not too worried about that. By the time it's relevant, I'll be able to handle it.

A little worried about what this says about my character development though... Did kinda throw that whole city to a pack of wolves metaphorically speaking, and I was definitely willing to throw in the other guys with me as well. Definitely pretty messed up of me...

But, that's show business for you. Take the winning path when you see it. Especially if the other path leads to possible certain death.

I think that, if I were placed in that situation again, I'd make the same decision.

Stocking Up

Tabatha offered to buy me a new car, which I gladly accepted. After driving around that shitty Toyota for the past three years, upgrading to something with functioning air conditioning was heavenly.

While I was at it, I also decided to ask for a new suit. Something bulletproof, kinda like that scene from John Wick. It feels a little sad parting with my old outfit... I've worn that thing since basically high school, but now that I'm getting shot by actual machine guns during these jobs... it's a change I'll just have to get used to. It's comfortable enough to nap in, at least.

So far, I've got the car stowed away in the little pocket space I learned how to access after the job, along with some backup ink and a spare journal. Until I actually start publishing and making bank off royalties, I'll have keep relying on Tabatha for these bigger purchases-- and it seems like she's got some drama she needs help with from a previous job...

Hopefully that won't be too troublesome.
