Jackie ("J") Thorne's Journal

Jackie's tech log

A side-effect of being part computer means you can start to treat your mind like a database. I started keeping logs of what goes on in my life, storing them as files in my head, so that I wouldn't forget.

Log #001-002 isn't chronologically created until after J gets a gift.

#002 - Life in Prison

Life in prison isn't that bad. We have to follow a schedule constantly so we always have something to do. The more worrying part is what happens after I get out. I'll have to stay in here a while, considering what we did, which is a rather unnerving thought. I'll definitely need to break out of here eventually if I don't want to go on the run again, though I do need to be careful about escaping. If I do this sloppy I probably won't be able to stay anywhere in the U.S. that could provide me with a sufficient amount of clients.

The only calming aspect of this whole situation is that I don't have officially a job to lose, but I'll need to start calling all my connections as soon as I get out. If whoever gave us our last job could get me to Nevada from Detroit, I'm pretty sure they could get us out of prison. Hopefully they would still want to contact us after the job we just bombed.

#004 - Mind Expanding

After I got back to my cell, I waited for my reward. Our employers made my shitty old tv work, so I wouldn't be surprised if they could contact me in jail. After minutes of sitting around, I felt nauseous and dizzy, and threw up blood into the sink. I felt my brain shift and reform, restructuring itself more efficiently. This must be their reward. I felt my mind expand, and become organized. It felt like I was accessing a database containing all of my memories and thoughts. In terms of physically, I felt ecstatic. I felt a tingling on my skin, pulling me towards the wiring in the walls and the appliances around the building. When I touch it I swear I feel like I can overwhelm it and take it over completely. Whenever I get a chance, I need to try it out on something, see how much I can do, and how much it'll help me get out of this place.

#006 - Prison Business

As soon as I arrived back, I immediately turned to Fat Larry. Gave him my civilian clothes, and my new bone knife. Told him I'm preparing to get us out, and to just take it as proof, or at worst collateral.

I also felt my power grow. Much faster than last time, didn't have to wait a bit. I can feel electricity in the walls. I know where devices are. My mind is too slow to process right now, though it definitely is getting faster. I don't have anywhere to try it, but I know if I could get some computer or phone or something I could offload all of the difficult parts onto that, and sort through the data better.

It probably won't be that long until I can to escape. Hell if I wanted to just get myself out, I could probably do it now. But I told Larry I'd get him out, and he's pretty useful. I also rather like Vivian, and I know there's another one in here, from my first contract. I haven't seen him in a while, hope he didn't get himself killed on another mission, he could maybe be useful if he's on the way out.
