Clementine

My new guitar was awesome.

It played as loudly as I wanted, exactly as if I had plugged it into an amplifier, with no sign of how it was powered, or where the sound was coming from. The notes were smooth and harmonius, and I could make it sing or wail as easily as Jimi Hendrix himself. And that's not all.

With a focused effort, and a quick solo, I discovered that I could produce a blast of lightning centred on me and radiating outwards. Judging by the splintered trees and deafened squirrels in the woods I'd chosen to test it in, this thing could do some serious damage if I ever found myself fighting bad guys like on my last contract.

The letter I received with it implied that I could gain more powers both for myself, and for Clementine, and I eagerly looked forward to my next Contract.

Immortality is mine!

Once I got back from the storage yard robbery, I collapsed onto my settee at home, only to tense as I felt a strange power wash over me. I realised what it was - my new Gift for successful completion of the contract - and accepted the feeling, wondering what I would receive.

I gained an instinctive understanding of my power, which is useful as there is no outward sign of it - I was apparently now immortal, and would live until something killed me, rather than dying of old age. This was fantastic! With this power, I could wait forever until technology advanced sufficiently that I could travel the stars. The power also came with a suspended animation active effect that I could trigger at will, allowing me to survive the depths of space should I find myself without life support.

I was immensely pleased with my Gift, and spent some time just playing around with the suspended animation part. The day I became a contractor was the best day of my life.

Vivian's return

I made it to the hospital, before practically passing out from my injuries on the doorstep. I vaguely recall dialing Vivian's number - I knew she was a healer, and I'd saved her details into my phone when she handed me her card on my first contract.

I woke up in a hospital bed, Vivian standing over me. She'd healed me, and I looked around in panic for a second, trying to see if Clementine was ok. Fortunately, she was. I explained how I got my injuries to Vivian, and she told me that she was planning on healing more people in the hospital. I stuck around in gratitude, and it was a good thing I did.

After every healing, Vivian looked more and more worn out, until eventually I'm practically carrying her along. Several times, I had to direct her away from doctors and security guards who would have spotted her doing impossible things.

Eventually, she was tapped out, and we left the hospital with no further incidents, and I made my way back home to England.
