Patch 22.5.1 - Guide Search, GM notes, Mechanics Adjustments

This is a minor patch that adds a new guidebook search feature and secret GM notes for Contractors, and also adjusts some mechanics related to weapons.

Highlights

The Player’s Guide dropdown and index now features a search-as-you-type feature that should make it far easier to find the section you’re looking for. Check it out!

Secret GM Notes on Contractors

Contractor character sheets now feature a GM Notes section beneath the Biography under the Story tab. This section is viewable and editable by anyone with permission to edit the Contractor in question besides that Contractor’s Player.

This is a great place to plot Contractor conflicts or keep track of secrets that relate to a particular Contractor.

Mechanics Adjustments.

We also made some minor mechanics changes this patch.

  • Armor: Removed the Penalty from flack jacket / Kevlar + helmet. Now it is simply impossible to conceal and socially abnormal to wear.
  • Shotguns: There is now only one type of shotgun (no difference between shot and slugs). It does +2 Damage with a base range of 75 feet.
  • Heavy Sniper Rifles now have guidance on how long it takes to set up a tripod. It’s a full Action.
  • Unarmed Attacks now do -2 Damage and Brawn does not act as Armor against them.
  • Stun Guns have had their systems clarified.
  • Pepper Spray now has a system in the Player’s Guide.
  • Grapples and Choking have been simplified and changed slightly. Read the new rules in the Player’s Guide.
  • Initiative Ties are now broken based on the size of the initiative roll’s dice pool, then GM’s discretion (previously, they were broken based on Attribute values).
  • Failed Trauma Rolls now result in either a new Trauma OR a point of Mind damage. Botched Trauma Rolls result in both a Mind damage AND a new Trauma (previously two Mind Damage and two Traumas).
  • Self-Control Rolls are what it’s called when you roll Mind to avoid losing control of your Contractor when one of their Traumas are triggered. There’s no mechanical change; it just has a name now so that people are less likely to get it confused with a Trauma roll.
  • Anguish is the new name of the Limit previously called “Torture.”

Other Changes

Website Improvements

  • Updated the new Player’s Guide / Tutorial to fix bugs and introduce the Gifts system better.
  • A Contractor’s timeline now displays how many Improvements they’ve been granted. This is only visible to the Player who owns the Contractor.
  • Fixed an issue where Gift names failed to display symbols properly.
  • Added a warning during contractor creation if more than 7 points of Liabilities are taken.
  • When viewing an empty Journal page, the prompt to write a new entry now includes the Scenario’s title.
  • Improved the timeline display on contractor sheets.
  • Fixed a bug where logged-out players would see errors viewing their character sheets.
  • Fixed a bug that caused a generic 500 error page to show instead of the “fun” one.

Gift Changes

  • Added a parameter to Spawn Minion that determines their movement speed.
  • Replaced Cantrip on Raise Dead with Easy
  • Bullet Dodging on Unarmed Mastery no longer requires Armored Fist.
  • Mass Panic on Traumatize now requires Seasoned status
  • Added an Enhancement to Archery Mastery: Faster than a Speeding Bullet (Your arrows are treated as Firearms when determining how they can be Reacted to.)
