Ever since the collapse, Eden-227 has become a nesting ground for the depraved and anomalous. A white dwarf orbits where its sun had used to, and a continuous blizzard envelops the planet’s surface. Surviving colonies scavenge on the leftover resources of Eden's past civilizations, and utilize its extensive semi-thaumaturgical and mechanical systems in order to survive.
Once again, more of our own have fallen trying to salvage it.

- on the origin of the Reikgon
The supernatural in this setting can mainly be attributed to the Observer Effect, which posits that reality functions under different laws while being directly observed by a conscious being. The more sentient the observer, the greater their sway over reality-- with the deliberate use of it considered as Magic.
The closest an individual can get to harnessing this effect while retaining their humanity is to be born a Thaumatugist.
Because the potency of the observer effect is dependent on an innate aspect of the mind, it cannot be affected in any way except for extreme measures.
There is only one thing that can make a non-thaumaturgist's mind malleable enough to intuit the mechanics Thaumaturgists use to manipulate reality:
Pain.
Pair this with a church delusional enough to proclaim themselves as god, and a zealousness to burn away humanity in sulfur, and you get the Reikgon.
Nobody knows for certain the full events of what happened during the collapse, but we know that the ones responsible are making another move.

a.) AGENCY
An independent organization responsible for making contingencies in case the current government or sustainability of New Earth fails.
They regularly send out task forces to conduct investigations, damage control, and crisis management alongside government.
Currently looking into the events leading to Eden-227’s collapse and possible rehabilitation.
b.) Collapse
Refers to the malfunction of several major geothermal generators and the series of ensuing catastrophes that would result in Eden-227 becoming uninhabitable.
The agency helped in evacuating most of the population, replicating protocols from old earth governments before sending task forces for long term rehabilitation projects. When they returned, they hadn’t expected that there would be survivors.
c.) Systemic Infection
A fatal illness that progresses in 5 stages, eventually leading to the death of the host. Occurs from contact with Eden-227's atmosphere.
The progression of each stage can be delayed using specialized amoxicillin tablets, courtesy of Ulacyon.
d.) Factions
Categorized into 4 groups, ranked by how much of a threat they are to the agency:
- Raiders (Neutral)
- Scavengers (Hostile)
- Eden Restoration Unit (Kill on Sight)
- Reikgon / Anomalies (Actively Hunted)
e.) Third Wave
The previous team sent to Eden-227 to help in evacuation procedures.
Every member is to be considered KIA, except for Yosef who is branded a derelict to the AGENCY.
f.) ECHO Unit
Evidence Containing Holographic Ordinances
Automated recordings of an agent’s surroundings when they undergo high distress or a survival response. Used to document a personnel's most recent engagement and provide context to future agents in the event of their death, though it can also be activated manually to store key information.
g.) AGENT Container
Advanced GPS Electronic Navigation Tool
Specialized chest plates designed by the agency for various types of deployments. Each agent has a unique container adjusted to their specific needs, at times accommodating for various augmentations used to facilitate one's abilities.
Basic functions include GPS navigation, monitoring vitals, squad communication., weather prediction, storage management, etc.
