Apocalypse Earth is a twisted reflection of the modern world where the countries of the world are working to one up each other with weapons and technology. Along with this mad dash in tech, the occurrences of the supernatural are much more common. Stories about childhood monsters are now common. Or is it just that the internet makes them more accessible? One cannot tell. But one thing is certain. While things seem normal on the surface, the undercurrents are definitely changing. Charlatans become pop culture icons, and each revelation inspires a new cult. The world is changing. The secret societies that pull humanity's strings scramble to adapt.

Now's a good time to move up.

House Rules

Contractors from Apocalypse Earth Are portable, and may play in Contracts in other Playgroups.
Apocalypse Earth grants 6 Experience points to GMs who achieve the Golden Ratio.
  • Citizenship: Active Players are expected to GM Contracts from time to time. If you have played as a Contractor in your most recent six Contracts, you are barred from playing in The Illumination again until you GM.
  • Supernatural Powers: All non-mastery, non-concealed Powers must be obviously supernatural when activated or grant a mutation that marks the wielder as supernatural or bizarre if discovered.

Apocalypse Earth

The world has always had its share of strange and unknown things.  In the past these things were more common as the etheric winds of mana have waxed and waned in the world.  Now it seems, the world is in an upswing of etheric energy.  This brings with it an uptick in encounters with what we call, "the supernatural".  Things that make their way here from "elsewhere".  Creatures that have lain dormant awaiting the increasing etheric energy on the planet.  

The simple fact is that society has progressed to a point where hiding in the shadows has become difficult for many creatures that don't fit into our stable and understandable worldview.  

While most people don't really believe in the supernatural it has become quite a bit more present.  While many may say that the videos uploaded are hoaxes, others will claim that the darkweb holds traffic relating to darker things than kidnappers and child porn.  Gatherings of fell creatures and secret cabals move below the surface of our sunny, oblivious world.

Into this melting pot with various sectors on a collision course to open co-existence, there are those who would seek to manage this rebirth of the supernatural.  Enter the Harbingers.  Working to manage the chaos of the unknown and slowly allow it to integrate into standard society, they handle many of the more difficult to imagine scenarios through the judicious use of  what they call "Contractors".  Remarkable individuals brought together by a Harbinger for a specific purpose.  Even if those purposes are at times unfathomable to a normal mind.

Be a part of the world, on the cusp of a new era.  Will it adjust and adapt?  Or will it crumble into chaos?  You choose to partake and determine the ultimate fate of the world you know.
