Vincent lives in Hilltown Township, PA, just north of Philadelphia. After finishing his genetics doctorate in Riga and as part of it, he was offered a job from one of the larger companies based in the nearby city. With a hefty salary and enough money saved before the move, over the years he has managed to buy out a plot of land in the nearby suburbs and construct a house that he wanted with the help of professionals - a two story building with an attached garage that doubled as a tool shed, a mini lab of his own, and a backyard porch with a two-sided chimney for grilling during warm summer days.
Detached from the main building, but still on the property is a small two story guest house - a living room, shower and sauna on the first floor, and two bedrooms coupled with a bathroom on the second.
Vincent works at a biochemical laboratory (Pfizer?) in Philadelphia, commuting to work via the train. He does own a car, but due to bad eyesight, anxiety and overall stress felt from driving, he prefers public transport and thirty minutes of less sleep, instead driving more leisurely on the weekends when heading into the city. The majority of the time he works on research into gene therapy and pesticide production.
Of course, earning a sum large enough to have your own house over a few years is nearly impossible even as an expert in a scientific field. With some less than legal contact he established through his ties in Latvia, Vince, having a knack for all things explosive, acidic and toxic, occasionally works on creating large batches of special primers, extra deadly ammo coatings, gases and explosive - whatever the customer wants. The usual contacts include various independent groups looking to incite conflict, though an occasional military company may request a batch of special artillery shells or grenades ever so often.
The majority of his salary goes into taxes, grocery shopping, land upkeep and bills, the rest into purchases of raw materials and ingredients for his own project into super-science. What remains gets saved for a rainy day or more costly immediate expenses such as car repairs or occasional cleaning services
The way he sees it, humanity is on the brink of entering a new age of elevated existence. With the new branches of super-science slowly developing, there now exists the possibility of enhancing our technology with the supernatural. With extensive knowledge into genetics and general biochemistry, Vince plans to understand the new biological laws that come with the unnatural abilities some people tend to possess. By understanding which laws they operate by, he will open the door to advanced splicing and grafting procedures, potentially allowing anyone to gain any sort of appendage they wish, to appear in any way they would want. Increased muscle density and volume, thick fur, prehensile tails - whatever anyone wishes to have, whichever natural benefit they might want to possess, it should all be possible.
This is only the next natural step in human evolution - acquisition of the best traits their universe has to offer, and their assimilation. Those who stand in the way of the greater good should be disregarded at best - eliminated at worst. Nobody should be forced to go through the procedure, of course, as those who decline it will eventually die out, while those who are elevated will pass on their genetic structures. Nature will do everyone on her own, inevitably. Those who will undermine his efforts, however, must be stamped out.
This is the doctor's greatest dream. To see the world evolved. He will stop at nothing to achieve this goal. He will betray allies, if needed, risk his own life, even die, as long as the end goal is met.
