Markus Lives in a relatively normal house in Gladstone Oregon. He lives in this house with his mother who pays for the house while he stays rent free. He spends most of his time in his room playing video games, watching videos on YouTube and other streaming services, doing homework, etc. The home itself is fairly standard, 2 floors (one is a basement which Markus uses as his room) with your usual amenity's (washing machine, dryer, dishwasher, bathrooms, etc.) even though most of it is taken up by hallways. There's also a garage which Markus and his mom keeps their cars, one belonging to each of them. Markuses car (a green Chevrolet trailblazer) is what he uses to get around most of the time, while his mom's car is broken, and they haven't found anyone to run repairs yet. Markus makes sure to keep hi room clean, take out the trash, do the dishes, and clean the bathrooms on a weekly basis, partially for convenience, but mostly because he feels bad for his mom having to pay for him.
Markus has a part-time job as a Employe at a mcdonalds. however most of his money goes into his collage fund so he is very unwilling to spend money(Especially during contracts). Markus refuses to spend more than 100 dollars a week(especially not on a single purchase) but when he does spend money it's often used to buy a new game, get new batteries, get groceries, buy cleaning supply's for his room,(maybe on a blue moon)some fast food, etc. as an employee, Markus is fairly hard working, always trying to be the first to take peoples orders(and suppressing his dislike of them).
Markus's ambition is to establish a technological garden of Edan: a place without sin, weakness, or sadness that will be run by machines which are incapable of making biased or skewed judgements. Markus understands neither what this ambition entails nor how he would even achieve it. Markus is willing to go out of his way to achieve his goal, but he will not do so if it meant someone would die as a direct result or biproduct. even when he does go out of his way to work towards his ambition, he will only ever half commit he's not willing to die, kill, or torture others to attain this goal and will give up on the attempt if he needs to and might even give up on the ambition entirely if he believes there's no way to achieve it without crossing this line.
when Markus was a kid (around 6), his father (James Bartholamew) was convicted of murder and found guilty, having been sentenced to life in prison without parole. However, he'd die in a prison riot less than a year later. After 6 years had passed, and Markus had learned the gravity of his father's actions at the age of 12, it was revealed that James Bartholemew was innocent, as the real murderer was found and admitted to his crimes out of guilt. His father had died as an unwilling scapegoat for someone to use in order to get away with their own crimes, all for them to get caught 6 years later. This event would always stick out to markus as a glimpse into just how flawed the justace system was, he lost trust in the justace system as is, felt it needed to change, but he also felt to powerless to fix it on his own.
Markus only has one person in his life:
Agatha Bartholomew(markus's mom):Marchuses mom is a middle aged(mid 50's) woman who spends most of her time at work: a clothing store which she ownes. Because she spends so Mutch time running this store, she mostly askes markus to do chores and Arons. she often askes markus to drive her to work and back or walks on her own.
