Doctor Andorn Peregrine's Questionnaire

1. What town or city do you live in? Why do you live there instead of anywhere else? Describe your home.

Link Answered before Doctor Andorn Peregrine's first Contract.

Doctor Andorn Peregrine lives in (Insert Place whenever I ask Maru where DSP bases are). He lives there because he has no living relatives and had no real reason to stay behind in his old family home. So, when he was approached by DSP agents because of his supernatural affliction and impressive research on similar subjects, he promptly moved to be closer to his new job. It was the job closest-aligned with his goals that he could find, really. Being right next to those that harbored the secrets of the universe usually made it a lot easier to see and research.

It's fairly hectic around (Insert Place Here) sometimes, but Doctor Peregrine lives for the chaos.

2. How do you get your money right now? What do you spend it on?

Link Answered before Doctor Andorn Peregrine's first Contract.

Doctor Andorn Peregrine gets his money from two similar sources. His job where he helps in the research of paranormal creatures, items, and other phenomena. And his hobby, where he writes fan-fictions about characters from obscure indie games with cult followings, receiving donations for his efforts. One is obviously higher paying than the other, but it's not as far off as you'd think, with a particular Andy4natic closing the gap by an eye-widening amount... (The world is a strange place)

He spends most of his money on renovating his b̶u̶n̶k̶e̶r̶  humble abode and pursuing personal projects, most of which involve the supernatural or merely extreme (and often ridiculous) measures.

3. Describe your Ambition. What are you striving for? How far would you go to achieve this? Would you kill for it? How close to death would you come for it?

Link Answered before Doctor Andorn Peregrine's first Contract.

Andorn Peregrine's Ambition is to uncover the secrets of the universe, whatever that would entail. To merely glimpse into it is worth the lives of thousands. To truly uncover it entirely and understand it...that is worth the world.

He would go to endless lengths to fulfill this goal, but at the same time, would seem almost lackadaisical in his efforts to achieve it. His understanding is that the secrets of the universe haven't been found yet, and people have been trying boring old centuries-old science and research, so why not take a few years to try and stumble upon it by doing things others haven't ever even thought of? And if anything is going to bring about the digital code behind this both real and fake simulation we live in, it's going to be at least somewhat related to those with Gifts from it. (He's fucking insane)

He would both kill and die for these secrets, because in his mind, that is the true end goal of every being, living or dead, sapient or non-sapient. It is the literal biggest goal one could have, save for controlling the secrets themselves, which may be his next goal if he is still alive after uncovering them...

4. What was the most defining event of your life (before signing The Contract), and how did it change you?

Link Answered before Doctor Andorn Peregrine's first Contract.

The most defining event of Andorn's life had to be his birth. Due to a curse that even Andorn himself doesn't entirely understand, he's been both plagued by and blessed by non-sensical secrets of the world. Whenever he would close his eyes, he sees things never seen by any other being before. Whenever he would plug his ears, he hears voices and sounds that are entirely foreign and indescribable. As he has grown in both body and mind, these experiences have lessened slightly.

But back when he was a baby, barely having even been born yet, these secrets were at their peak, in both intensity and decipherability. Sadly, having been a literal fetus, Andorn could not make sense of these. It didn't help that there was nobody there to explain these things to him, with his family succumbing to the madness and...other...effects of the curse shortly after his birth.

Andorn's goal now requires him to find a way to place himself in that same state he had at birth. Back when he was but an empty vessel for the secrets, with no memories besides the vague feeling of warmth inside his mother's belly, and the infinite blackness of the void.

5. Name and briefly describe three people in your life. One must be the person you are closest to.

Link Answered before Doctor Andorn Peregrine's first Contract.

Being the type of person Andorn is, he doesn't have many people he could truly call his friends, just for lack of compatibility. That doesn't mean he doesn't have any, though.

1. Nicodemus Castellanos is a high-ranking DSP official, and one who has taken a particular interest and liking to Andorn. His unique experiences and way of thinking has garnered a sense of both respect and pity for the mad man. Nicodemus himself is a fairly stoic and no-nonsense type of guy, with him acting as a sort of guardian for Andorn, both in the sense that he keeps Andorn from doing anything TOO crazy and he protects him from the consequences of when he fails to do the first part. Andorn loves Nicodemus, seeing him as an older brother who needs to smile and have fun more, while Nicodemus sees the younger man as a son. (This is the person he is closest to)

2. Rebecca "Becka" Johnson is a fellow supernatural nutjob, but she wasn't fortunate enough to be as self-sufficient or seen as helpful enough to be given the privileges that Andorn has. Currently, Becka resides in a low-security DSP holding cell, seen as a minor danger to public safety, what with her being a sort of witch that can turn peoples' brains into her limbed servants, acting as particularly disturbing guard dogs. She sees Andorn as a fellow crazy and the two of them have a bit they like to do where they act like a bad cop and a rebellious prisoner when he is sent there to do professional work with her. This, in turn, makes pleasure visits more affective, meaning Andorn has been given permission to visit her to "hang out", the cameras catching every movement and word. Andorn genuinely likes the woman, and enjoys the image of her human brain attack puppies.

3. Doctor Michael Hyde is a fellow researcher alongside Andorn, and they themself have supernatural capabilities, however restrictive. He has the ability to be incredibly hard to notice, but it only seems to work on those of the opposite sex. At least, that's the running theory the rest of the department has. Michael is a timid man in comparison to Andorn, and he appears to be around 22, despite being closer to Andorn's age at 29. The two work together on some of the most difficult to interpret artifacts and seem to have great synergy, with Andorn immediately theorizing possible uses and abilities it may have during his testing, while Michael brings him back to reality and translates his theories into normal people speak. The two are quite close, but more in the sense that they have a deep respect for each other, and less of a personal connection, as much as Andorn tries to get the guy to go out and talk to people.

6. How was your childhood? Who were your parents? What were they like? Did you attend school? If so, did you fit in? If not, why not?

Link Answered after Contract 1, Sugar & Spice

Andorn didn't have much of a childhood, as his parents succumbed to the curse his family is placed under. From what he did know of his parents, they were crazy lunatics who were more akin to strangers than anything. He's sure he would have had some great memories, were his earliest memories not of his father's hand slowly disappearing through the floor as he fell through the world.

Andorn grew up mostly in an orphanage somewhere in California, where he never quite seemed to fit in. Sure, he was funny sometimes and always seemed to attract indescribable crowd of people to him, but not so effectively as to counteract his strange and almost alien personality.

He was lucky enough to escape from the orphanage through a program to help talented children (indoctrinate the high-IQ children) and get them set on a better path in life. One with a bit higher chance of success.

It was only a few uneventful years of schooling did Andorn realize something.

He definitely has OCD.

7. Have you ever been in love? With who? What happened? If not, why not?

Link Answered after Contract 1, Sugar & Spice

Andorn claims to have been in love many times, and frequently calls himself a passionate lover, bleeding heart, etc.

Sometimes it is jokingly(?) to a coworker when they bail him out for one of his goofy and often absurd projects, other times he finds himself head over heels for a particularly polite waitress and claims that his life is for naught without her. Nobody can quite tell if he is kidding or if he is just that eccentric.

But Andorn knows. It's all real. He knows it for sure. He just has so much love and he feels just so greatly. But somehow, for some reason, he finds himself completely at ease with the idea of hurting them. He just feels...relaxed...all the time.

8. What are your worst fears? Why?

Link Answered after Contract 2, Suckin' Air

Andorn's worst fear is most definitely being forgotten. This isn't because he wants to be some famous historical figure who will live on in history books (even if he would love that), but for a more obvious reason.

His curse.

Due to the nature of his family's curse, it doesn't simply kill you. It actually doesn't do that at all! No, it keeps you in a perpetual state of living and not living. There is no death in the equation, as it is only what you currently are and NOT that. Not quite the same as death, although speaking philosophically, it could be argued there is no difference.

Anyway, the point is that Andorn, despite being this happy go-lucky madman who fears nothing (because he fears no mundane death), he still fears what lies beyond existence. He doesn't fear this because he is afraid of the unknown. Quite the opposite. He KNOWS what comes with that. Nothing. Yet everything. He knows he would have no control, being melted into the dark. Where he can't see the everything, and only has the nothing his mind makes up.

He would be the only stimuli in the never changing everything that changes.

And he fears nothing greater.

9. What is (are) your most prized possession(s)? What makes it (them) so special?

Link Answered after Contract 2, Suckin' Air

Andorn's most prized possession(s) would have to be his Tamagotchi, his subordinates in his department, and his rock collection.

He has found himself feeling an obsessive love for the digital pet, especially after he "resuscitated" it (tinkered with the programming) to bring the same one back to life and make it much more resistant to death. He often puts little care into the happiness meter, although feeds it as much as it wants. His subordinates at work would be highly disturbed at the correlation to them they see in this dynamic.

Both his subordinates and his Tamagotchi seem to be suffering from Andorn's constant overbearing "love", yet this doesn't explain Andorn's attachment to rocks.

...

He just fucking LOVES rocks.

Using some obscure method of measurement, which sorts using words like: Vibe, Character, Tappiness, and How Well It Can Be Used As A Device Of Harm, Andorn's mind, maybe due to his curse, also leaves him with some sort of innate connection to minerals and stone in general. At least, that's our excuse...
