Mina has taken residence somewhere in the mountain areas of Utah near a small town called Brian Head. After Mina's accident, a change of scenery was required. Mina here from the hustle of the big city to get some piece and quite, and to mentally recover from her accident.
The cold air, and long walks through the forest have done wonders for Mina's state of mind. It also gives her plenty of space to practice her new found arcane skills that she's been studying up on during her recovery, and it's started to pay off.
Mina loves the grand outdoors and the mountains, and she wants to see them preserved for future generations.
Right now, Mina is living on the slim pickings of the winnings from her sponsorships from when she was an athlete, and coaching the local Olympic hopefuls.
Mina spends the majority of her money collecting occult grimoires and artifacts. Mina is searching for the list civilization of Atlantis, and hopes to learn it's secrets. So far, most of the stuff she's acquired has turned out to be "junk.". At least by her standards.
If something doesn't have any immediate clue to Atlantis, then it just goes in the local storage unit. All kinds of things can be found in there.
The search for Atlantis is going to be a long one, so Mina wants to increase her life span to give her the time to find it. Once that's done, Mina will devote her time to tracing down every last scrap of Atlantis that she can find.
Mina would prefer to avoid killing people if possible, if someone is dead, the amount they can share is severely limited. If someone shares a secret with her, then she'll share a secret with them.
As for how close to death Mina is willing to come, well she can't find Atlantis if she's dead, and searching for immortality first, well, it's safe to say Mina prefers to take the long view of things.
Mina was a aspiring Olympic hopeful until she got in a car accident. It was a terrible accident, and it ruined her aspirations of that elusive gold metal. The accident was so bad that it cost her an arm.
Mina always did have some curiosity about lost civilizations and a mind for the occult. So following the accident, Mina turned her curiosity into a hobby, and now it's an obsession.
Before the accident Mina was very practical and focused a lot on her training. Now, however, Mina has started to focus on the esoteric to the point it has her friends and family worried about her.
The three people closest to Mina in her life would have to be Professor Evans, Debbie Dains, and Don Sylvester.
Professor Evans is Mina's archeological mentor. He's the one who lit Mina's love for all things buried and forgotten. Originally, archeology was just a secondary degree in Mina's plans, but after Mina's accident. Professor Evans helped Mina through the rough patches. Now he's worried that Mina's obsession with Atlantis is going to doom her scholarly career.
Debbie Dains is Mina's childhood best friend. Debbie has always been a reliable friend, but their relationship has been strained as of late. Since Mina's accident, Mina has turned into a big pain lately. Debbie hopes it's just emotional scarring trying to make up for the loss of an arm, so Debbie hasn't given up on Mina just yet.
Then there's Don Silvester. Don is Mina's antiques dealer. Don is always keeping an eye out for anything unusual, and is always happy to feed Mina's obsession.
Mina's parents constantly pushed Mina to be her best. They pressed Mina to get the best grades, complete all the honor courses, and enroll in college early. Going for a run was the only time Mina was able to get piece and quite. This is were she developed her love for track and field. Soon after discovering her love, Mina's dreams quickly shifted to getting as many gold metals in the Olympics as possible. Mina's parents encouraged this dream, but they also pushed her to have a back-up career.
History was Mina's favorite subject, and she studied hard for it, and got in college for a scholarship because of her dedication. This all changed one night when a drunk driver crashed into her car on the way to college. This cost Mina her arm, and her dreams of becoming an Olympian. Her parents were also shattered by the revelation. Mina was able to start college in the next semester with her scholarship.
Mina has had lovers, but Mina's obsession with Atlantis always seemed for over shadow her desire for affection. Especially after her accident. Mina threw herself head first into her studies, having the be the best just like she always was. Mina wasn't going to let a simple drunk driver from letting her achieve greatness. Mina studied history, and the occult. Trying to do the impossible. Find ancient Atlantis. If Mina could just find Atlantis, she would prove to the world just how great she is.
One day, in the library when Mina was in the library, she found a book she knows wasn't there yesterday, and it was in an old dialect. Mina knew she found something special.
Mina's greatest fear would be never laying eyes on Atlantis. Ever since her accident, and the death of her dreams of standing on the Olympic podium, she wanted to make an impression on the world another way. As much as a long shot it is, Mina wants to find Atlantis.
She was always fascinated by the tale of Atlantis and how it sank beneath the waves oh so long ago. It's tails of hubris and it's falling didn't deter Mina. If anything, it seems to have propelled her forward more. If she could harness even a barest fraction of power the ancient Atlantians had, Mina feels as though she could make her mark on the world and help to improve the human condition.
But what if Mina manages to catch her dream? What if the treasures she uncovers just unleashed a new calamity upon the world? As self absorbed as Mina is, the last thing she wants to do is cause an apocalypse. So if Mina does somehow manage to uncover Atlantis, will she keep it secret? Does she turn it over to the governments of the world? Does she try to establish a new nation wholly in control of the lost nation?
Mina's current most prizes possession would have to be the ancient Atlantian Grimoire. Inside it lie many secrets untold of the lost civilization and the world. Deciphering the secrets within has turned into an obsession for Mina, it's not like it hasn't yielded results either.
Already Mina has learned three spells from the book as a result of her work. It seems the ancient Atlantian civilization mastered many things, and an abundance of knowledge was stored in this book.
The grimoire is also made of a few unknown materials. The cover is made of a hard, unknown metal, and the pages are made of a different, but flexible metal. The knowledge contained on each page seems to shift and shimmer as Mina glides her hand across them. The knowledge within seems to transmit itself into the brain of the reader, as if you're gazing into the fabric of reality itself.
Mina's biggest problem right now is a lack of creditability in the scientific industry. Especially in the field of archeology. There are several reasons for this. First reason is Mina hasn't even earned her associates degree yet. Anyone in that field of study wouldn't even take her seriously.
The second problem is Mina's chosen area of study. Atlantis? Seriously? It's something based entirely on myth and legend, according to the main stream theories at least. There's absolutely no indication that it really ever existed in the state conspiracy theorists would have you believe. That's if it even existed at all to begin with.
People Mina has shown her grimoire too only believe it to be an elaborate fake, and say she was taken advantage of by the shop dealer she bought it from.
Mina aims to prove them all wrong, and make the disbelievers eat their words. One way or another.
Mina's start to her day is the same as a regular person, except it has a dose of meditation in addition to coffee. After a meditation, Mina will go for a jog. Then it's breakfast time. Breakfast can be a bowl of cereal, eggs over toast, or a bagel. After that, it's shower time. Mina will usually wear something office casual for college classes.
After classes, it's time to coach fellow Olympic hopefuls in track and field. Then it's time for lunch. Lunch is often something from the campus cafeteria. Such as a salad, a sandwich or a wrap.
Then it's study time. Both of the occult kind and the college kind. Mina does need to keep up her grades after all. If she's going to show these bastards how it's done, she better learn how to do it in the first place.
Then it's time to show people how it's done.
