Sebastian Solace's Questionnaire

1. What town or city do you live in? Why do you live there instead of anywhere else? Describe your home.

Link Answered before Sebastian Solace's first Contract.

Sebastian, being a deep sea naga, lives in a sunken warship from some great naval battle or another, his home close to a trench deep enough for him to gather his most favorite of snacks, Bleeder mussels, which have a smooth, creamy texture, mixed with a scarlet hue and an indescribable taste.

the warship is of modern make, however Sebastian doesn't care enough about it to learn what country made it, only that it is large enough to hold all of his scavenged equipment and wares, as well as being comfortable to him, he has furnished it with whatever he could carry back from sunken shipping vessels or make himself from scrap materials.

2. How do you get your money right now? What do you spend it on?

Link Answered before Sebastian Solace's first Contract.

all of his income is gained from selling scrap and items from sunken ships, even having a service where he looks for specific items (and charges double what he would if he just found and sold it).

he often travels along the main shipping currents, marking down new sunken ships to come back to, and will sometimes stop at stationary fishing vessels he finds along the way to purchase snacks.

when it comes to what he spends his money on the most, though, its custom equipment, his clothes are an example, being commissioned from a highly rated tailor, they were made to let him carry more, whether that be scrap or tools.

3. Describe your Ambition. What are you striving for? How far would you go to achieve this? Would you kill for it? How close to death would you come for it?

Link Answered before Sebastian Solace's first Contract.

while he gets enough to be comfortable in life, he does still want more, mostly to get more specialized equipment, waterproof machines, and whatever shiny knickknack interests him. while, to him, he'd prefer to just trade something of equal value, he does know that money exists for a reason and will accept payment.

more often than not, if he needs to get something exceptionally expensive, he'll dredge up some gold or platinum and sell it for the cash to buy what he actually wants.

the most he's risked his life, so far at least, is when he encountered a trio of sharks while scrapping a shipping vessel and nearly got bit in half by one of them, he managed to escape though, and came back to the area a week later to finish scrapping.

4. What was the most defining event of your life (before signing The Contract), and how did it change you?

Link Answered before Sebastian Solace's first Contract.

the most defining event, without a doubt, has to be when Sebastian made his first sale to a land dweller, as it made him realize that he could get what he wanted on the surface, just by using those useless, if shiny, things that were just taking up space in his home. he's not ever looked back, not once. he's even managed to become a known part of some smaller communities, a source of stories, and even comfort on occasion, becoming a confidant to some people, someone they can talk to without fear of it spreading or being judged for it.

5. Name and briefly describe three people in your life. One must be the person you are closest to.

Alex
    IRL childhood friend
Alex and Sebastian have known each other since preschool and were often mistaken for siblings, as they stuck to each other rather often.
Sebastian got a VR system before her, entirely by luck, as he won a giveaway they both entered. Sebastian and Alex visit each other often, without telling the other they're coming, they've gotten so used to each other that they don't even wait to be let in, they just ring the doorbell and come inside.

Diver_Driver
    in-game friendly rival
Diver_Driver is a fellow deep-sea scavenger in the game, but he's human. they have a sort of "soft" rivalry, there's no hate, just friendly competition, sometimes, when they meet at the same sunken ship, they either do rock paper scissors to see who gets it or just split the loot evenly

Elika
    online chat board friend
Sebastian is still getting to know them, but they do have good taste in games, as they're planning on getting a VR headset, as well as playing several other multiplayer games that Sebastian does.

6. How was your childhood? Who were your parents? What were they like? Did you attend school? If so, did you fit in? If not, why not?

Childhood for Sebastian was...odd, ever since he was young he'd dream of living under the waves of the sea, often begging his parents to take him to the aquarium just so he could sit in the tunnel through one of the larger tanks and imagine he were sitting on the ocean floor, looking up at all the animals around him.

Sebastian's father left to join the military while he was young, so he often went long periods of time without seeing him, while his mother worked for the government, the department in charge of  veterans specifically, even becoming head of the local branch, both of them were loving and caring, even if they weren't always there for him.

at school, he met Alex, and that sealed the fate of anyone who dared to bully people on the playground, as the pair became a sort of...impromptu playground gaurdian pair, those who were being bullied would run to Sebastian and Alex, who would protect them from whoever was doing the bullying while noting down who it was, so they can tell the teachers once playground time was over.

7. Have you ever been in love? With who? What happened? If not, why not?

Link Answered after Contract 1, Deep Dives

Sebastian isn't interested in romantic relationships, being aromatic asexual, plain and simple. even the closest he's come to being "in love" is more of a sibling bond with Alex, he childhood friend. some have tried to get him to "find the one" but he usually find people like that annoying and stupid, and generally stealth block them after ghosting for a while if they're extra insistent, he doesn't like it when people try to "fix him" by setting him up with someone. love to him is a platonic thing, you love your parents, you love your friends, you love your pets, love based in physical attraction just confuses him.

8. What are your worst fears? Why?

being forgotten.

To him, the most terrifying thought is that of being left unremembered, he's fine with being left alone, sometimes he just wants silence, but the thought of being forgotten, of no longer being somebody to somebody? it terrifies him.

to him, someone already forgotten by many of his old friends, that is a fate worse than death, as the dead are remembered and honored or reviled, but the unremembered do not get either.
"to go unremembered... it's the closest thing you can get to having never existed, I think." he once said to Alex during one of her visits to his little haven. "so...thank you. for not forgetting me."
the two then promptly spent the rest of the day vibing in silence, barely saying a word to each other yet enjoying each other's company all the same.

in his old hometown, he was known, as someone anyone native could name, but after the incident, he was met face-to-face with one of his old friends. this individual who'd known Sebastian his whole life, looked at him as if he were a stranger. it put the of being unremembered into him. Only he, Alex and his parents were out of town when the incident happened, and so they alone were spared.

9. What is (are) your most prized possession(s)? What makes it (them) so special?

the thing Sebastian is most proud of has got to be the handmade sculpture a child made of his salvager suit after he rescued them from a sinking ship, it was his inspiration for his avatar in neo-genis, though with some modifications. he has it displayed in his office inside the SSS Sunken, even if only he can see it, he's still proud of it.

the SSS sunken is something he's similarly proud of, if less so, as warship wrecks are rare finds, ones intact enough to hollow out and live in as he did are even rarer, even if his home is more of an underwater bunker with the ship being the entrance, he often uses the captain's office, with its ostentatious desk and perfect view of the lit up parts of the Deep Trench behind him, as his place to take video calls, entirely because he feels it makes him look cooler, and that's about it.
