Elizabethtown, KY 30 minute drive away form Louisville.

Sam moved to Elizabethtown, a comparitivley smaller and calmer town from Louisville leaving his father and younger brother to take care of his elderly grandparents.

The only things he took with him were his father's old mountain bicicle and their family dog, Shaitan. 

Shaitan is a 173 pound alabai sam rescued from a dog fighting pit roughly eight years ago, a beast with a rough exterior clad in muscle and rough scar tissue, but loving tender and quite frankly lazy on the inside.

Sam and Shaitan live in his grandparent's garage that he refurnished into a quaint little living space with a bed, desk and some free weights to keep himself in shape. 

Sam works at a no kill dog shelter in Louisville, though on particularly slow days he's not above doing odd jobs on the side - anything from dog walking, dog catching, car washing, loan mowing and perhaps a less than legal underground pit fight once or twice or five times...

The paycheck goes as fast as it comes - between the bills, medical expenses, food for Shaitan's botomless pit of a stomach and his younger brother's college fund what little remains is spent putting food on the table and funding Sam's dream of maybe someday making it big in an MMA promotion.
