Jeff Todd lives near Hollywood, in a small apartment in a poor area. He grew up and despite being plain, or maybe because of it, never quite fit in and always wanted to. He moved to Hollywood to make it big, but goshdarn just never stood out and got a break. Now he's viewed as an utterly reliable Hollywood universal standin. Always on call, always ready to just be there as an extra, in the background, filling in, helping balance lighting. He pushes on in an utterly mundane way, and wishes everyone got a chance to experience what is was like to be different from themselves. Famous for a change, rich for a change! Hollywood is the place where lies become truths, and everyone can dream and pretend even in the harshest reality.
Jeff Todd gets his money by being a Hollywood workhorse. He's paid a pittance effectively, but he's always scraping by. He spends his meager earnings just getting by for the most part - on his apartment, plain off the rack clothes. Any extra money its nice to try new experiences - something new.... maybe for a day we can pretend life turned out differently and we are someone else. Someone important in a fancy restaurant? Someone powerful riding the elevator with you, and you wonder why they sound so angry on some business call? Someone physically intimidating perhaps? Even for a day it's nice to put someone new on...
Jeff resents that he never seemed to stand out and get a break. He wants that for himself, but he really thinks that should be universal. Everyone should get a chance to be something else more often. A different person, a different gender, different mindset and strengths and weaknesses. We all deserve it and the world would be a heck of a lot better of a place if everyone did walk a mile in everyone else's shoes. At this point in his life, he doesn't think it will happen for him or others, but if he knew there might be a way... Jeff could justify a lot to himself in service of that greater good. Certainly he doesn't feel like he has much to lose at this point for himself - but would he deprive something of someone else in the way? They are part of the problem after all....
